Chloe’s Spring Wishlist!

C: It is super sunny outside at the moment, and although it isnt exactly warm yet it is making me very excited for the coming Summer! So I thought, what better way to celebrate then by putting together a Spring Wishlist, in the hope that some lovely person decides to treat me to all these beautiful things (wishful thinking eh?)!

photo(39)

1. Asos Maternity Skater Dress in Check £28 – okay so most of you are not interested in maternity clothes, but I think we can all appreciate this as a great dress in its own right. I love checked prints, so this would be perfect for the Spring weather, as it would also look great with tights when its a bit chillier!

 2. Clinique Long Last Matte Lipstick £18 – recently Clinique have really upped their make up game and refreshed their lipstick line. I love their skincare so much, but have never been that interested in their make up until seeing these badboys. I think the Matte Petal shade (a super soft, girly pink) would be my first choice for Spring.

 3. Topshop Semi Previous Teardrop Necklace £10 – layering up jewellery is super on trend at the moment, so this necklace is the perfect place to start if you are unsure! I love the green colour, as it would make the perfect contrast to so many outfits.

 4. New Look Tan Leather Woven Sandals £24.99 – my favourite sandals finally died of old age so I had to throw them away at the end of last Summer (booooo) so I have been on the search for the perfect pair. I love the woven effect of these, brown goes with everything AND they slip on, so I dont have to panic that I won’t be able to do my own shoes up soon once super pregnant! Perfect!

So there is what I am currently lusting after, what about you guys? What do you think of my choices? #twolittleowls

Dress: H&M
Boots: TK Maxx
Jewellery: Vintage and stolen from Chloe

A: I LOVE this dress. I bought it one day when I was hunting for something to wear for an evening out with friends, and actually spotted it first in the shirt version. I loved the pattern but the shape just wasn’t right on me, so when I found the same fabric in a swing dress I took it straight to the till. Swing dresses are so fun to wear, they are comfy (and super handy when you’re going out for a massive meal, somewhere to disguise the food baby), and look good on most shapes. I particularly like wearing them because although I’ve got a few lumpy bits, I don’t have a curvy figure and am I little conscious of my lack of chest. This is flattering though, in the best kind of way. And don’t worry, I do realise that it is the same colour as my hair, for some reason I am always drawn to ginger clothes. No idea why cause they don’t always look good (there is such a thing as too much ginger ya know!). This kind of works though (I think??) because of the gorgeous 60’s tile print – which goes perfectly with the swing shape. I love anything vintage, and I think this really carries the retro vibe. The pleating on the back is such a lovely detail too! And it is super wearable, dress it up with heels and a jacket for a night out, or with flats and a cosy cardi for daytime.

C: To me this dress completely sums up Annies style; comfortable, vintage and different. It perfectly suits Annies figure (this shape looks amazing on most, apart from those with all the lady lumps like me, it would look like I was wearing a bin bag) and is perfect for this time of year. You could layer this up with a knitted cardi for day time, or a leather jacket for going out. Plus… it’s ginger. Annies ginger. Perfect combo.

A Vintage Bride ft. Lover.ly

A: I was recently having a browse on the world wide web, and quickly got  lost in the never ending scrolling, but found myself on the beautiful Lover.ly Website. I was so inspired by it that I knew I would have to put together a post for you all and share their gorgeous wedding dresses. Unfortunately neither of us are currently engaged (very stubborn boyfriends), but we love weddings and hey, a girl can dream.

Lover.ly was launched in 2012 by a one-time maid of honor and her team of former bridesmaids and groomsmen determined to simplify the wedding planning process. It’s described as ‘the new way to plan your wedding’, and it really is. You can search under key words, themes and colours – making the whole process so much easier to find anything and everything for your big day. All the products they feature include direct links to the site they are available from, as well as prices – it’s pretty much like a shopping version of Pinterest – what more could you want in life?

I’ve decided to pull together a ‘look’, featuring hair, make-up and accessories to go with a theme I would choose – which would have to be bohemian and vintage inspired. So here is my choice;

172966_pas-de-deux-bridal-ebro-skirt-1413473577-193

Pas De Deux Bridal – Ginata Coverlet & Ebro Skirt (price on request)

Firstly, I apologise in advance to any brides to be. If you’re anything like me you will have fallen in love with this beautiful skirt and top combination (and if you have, DO NOT click the link to head to their website because their whole collection is just as beautiful!). I love the classic cut of the Ebro Skirt, with it’s nipped in waistband and gorgeous chantilly lace and illusion tulle layers, it really is my ideal wedding day look. The two-piece wedding day look is a fairly new trend, and it’s so versatile, you can really easily tune the whole outfit to exactly what you want. Personally, this being teamed with the Ginata Coverlet is bridal perfection to me. I love the high neck and sleeves with the skin showing through, keeping you covered but not concealed – for any brides who have insecurities about their arms, or chest, like I do. I also love the vintage vibe that a two-piece has and when you throw in the silhouette that the skirt creates, you’ve got a gorgeous retro-inspired bridal look. Unfortunately, this is one of the few collections on Lover.ly that don’t inform you of their prices, which normally means they are pretty pricey (sorry about that!).

Nars Illuminator

Kiko Cosmetics Velvet Mat Satin Lipstick in Autumn Pink

Benefit They’re Real Push-Up Liner

Make-up wise, I think a classic winged liner would be perfect for this dress – with dewey highlights and rose coloured lips. The Benefit eyeliner is renowned for its lasting power – and would stay in place all day for a Bride on her wedding day. And the Kiko lipstick is a beautiful shade of pink to compliment the Nars illuminator (click here for a full review of the Kiko lipstick). This simple make-up look would go perfectly with the dress, the heavy lace pattern would be too much if it was teamed with bold make-up.

hair1floralhair

A floral hair crown would be perfect to finish this bridal look and would look beautiful either with long, tousled curls or a messy up do. Fresh flowers would be a must for me though, and you can tie them in with your colour scheme and bridal bouquet to bring the whole wedding together.

I love the overall look of this – the heavily patterned lace dress with it’s gorgeous texture and style is complimented by the simple yet romantic make-up. The floral hair crown would really bring this look together, and I would choose one in pink and orange hues, to compliment the pink undertone in the lipstick. The overall muted pastel tones that this wedding look would create would be perfect for a spring/outdoor wedding – something which I would adore!

I’ve had so much fun writing this post, and would like to send a big thank you to Lover.ly for the inspiration!

Annie’s Autumn Fashion Wishlist

A: Following Chloe’s wishlist last week, I’ve created a wishlist with all of my Autumn favourites. I love jumpers, knitwear, woolly tights and boots so this is my favourite time of year (well almost, technically it should still be sunny in September but its pouring with rain as I type this).

cesia_front

Louche Cesia Floral Dress – originally £55 but just £20 in the sale from Joy the Store

I really love this dress and cannot believe what a bargain it is. It is a little summery for Autumn, but team it with a bright knit and some navy woolly tights and I’d be good to go. I think it would be super wearable and the print is just too pretty to resist.

dovana_mustard_fr2

Louche Dovanna Jumper – £42 from Joy the Store

This is from the same site as the floral dress (you really need to go check it out, I basically want to buy everything from there), and I LOVE it. I love layering jumpers over dresses, and this would look so good with the floral dress I’ve chosen. It is a little on the pricey side, but it definitely counts as an investment.

35309668_435x435

Helen Berman Maribo Cable Knit Beanie – £40 from Urban Outfitters

A hat in an Autumn wishlist is a must, and this beanie is amazing. Again, it is a little pricey but I love it. So that’s totally allowed.

Road Trip Suede Desert Boots – £55 from ASOS

I’ve been after some boots in this style for so long and I love these so much. Perfect for dressing up an outfit or everyday wear.

*Obviously as I (unfortunately) do not own these items, these photos are from the companies websites 🙂

A: I’ve bought this lovely floral dress for a wedding I have to go to in October and I’m super happy with it. It’s fits beautifully and has a lovely shape – and is so wearable. It can be dressed up or down and for this outfit I styled it with pretty flats, some vintage jewellery and Bill the cat for an everyday summer dress. It was a bargain and cost just £16 from Peacocks! I’m planning on wearing it with black tights and some coloured heels for the wedding, and maybe a hat if I can find one.

Chloe’s Summer Wishlist

C: it has been such beautiful weather the past few days that I have been dreaming of my new summer wardrobe/make up. I love it when the seasons change and you have the perfect excuse for a little retail therapy, so here’s what I have been lusting after.

photo-13

Topshop Leaf Print Sundress £38. I absolutely adore the print on this, and it is the perfect comfy dress to throw on when its hot weather. I might have to invest.

Maxfactor 3 in 1 foundation. I have heard great things about this and I really want to try it. This is perfect for festivals etc when you want good coverage/a primer but don’t want to waste time applying make up. 3 steps in 1? I am sold.

Topshop Giggle Geek Shoes £30. I love these/I am a geek so even the name fits me perfectly. I think these would be the perfect summer work shoes as they are still smart and not opened toed. I would have ordered them already, but I have to try shoes on as I am awkward/between sizes.

Revlon Lip Butters. Once again I have heard amazing things about these and to be honest it doesn’t take a lot of persuasion to get me to buy new lipsticks. I can’t decide on a colour yet so if you have recommendations please do let me know, but these sound perfect for low maintenance summer lips!

An evening out with Chloe and Annie

C & A: so last night, we went to a ball in our local town. We had been pretty excited about this for a long while because it’s a good excuse to get all dressed up, and who doesn’t like getting dressed up? We bought our dresses a couple of months ago (and posted about them here) and we were booked in with Chloe’s lovely sister-in-law to have our hair done. We both went for a similar look (surprisingly…) which was curly, with some plaits and waves – a bit of a boho vibe. Here’s the finished result;

20140608-151249-54769093.jpg
We then headed to Chloe’s house to finish the transformation (neither of us had any make up on and couldn’t look in the mirror at our hair properly because we just kept looking at the lack of make up). First job was to choose some music to get ready to. The obvious choice was the frozen soundtrack, which made us feel like Disney princesses so we did some dancing.

20140608-151730-55050792.jpg
After we calmed down, we moved onto the important work. Make up. We will give you a full low down tomorrow of how we created our looks, but for now here’s the final product.

20140608-152206-55326218.jpg
We don’t scrub up too bad do we?

After a glass of prosecco, we were dressed and ready to go.

20140608-152531-55531124.jpg
Annie chose some huge statement earrings from H&M and a gold cuff for accessories, and Chloe went for a statement necklace from Dorothy Perkins with two gold bangles. We both wore flat sandals (thank god – it was super warm last night and I don’t think we could’ve handled heels with all the dancing!).

We had a really lovely evening, thank you to Chloe’s lovely in-laws for inviting us because it was so much fun.

Just to keep you entertained, here’s some funny photos. You’ll probably notice it’s virtually impossible for us to both look remotely normal in a photo…And our other halves are just as bad. We did manage to get a few nice ones though!

Chloe’s mini haul!

C: you may have seen Annie’s amazing haul from our shopping trip on the weekend, so I thought I had better share with you what I got! I didn’t go quite as crazy as Annie as I really don’t need new clothes and I am meant to be saving for a house, but here’s what I did treat myself too:

20140415-163701.jpg

I got this amazing 1950’s style skirt from Primark for a bargain £10! I can’t wait to wear it this summer with a vintage blouse or a loose vest top, it will look amazing. It is also a bit longer than my other skirts so I can wear it without tights and not have to worry – perfect!

I also got this loose dress from TK Maxx for £12.99 (well I didn’t buy it due to “saving” but then I was sad when I got home so my good friend Kitty took me to buy it the next day!). I can’t find any links for you to buy it on (the) line but there were several in store so I am sure you would be able to find it – the make is QED London! This is perfect for one of those days where you need to be comfy but still want to look reasonable! I have been wearing this with leggings all day whilst in Uni and I am in love!

I also got a new nail varnish top coat but that was a boring picture… I shall do a review once I have tested it out properly! We also got new dresses for a ball we are going too in June, but we shall be doing a special post for those dresses to see what you lot think, so keep an eye out for that! What have you guys been buying recently? #twolittleowlsblog

Holiday Haul

A: Yesterday was a good day for me, I went on a bit of a shopping spree with some birthday money I had been given as an early present. Because I’m going on holiday next week, I though I might as well treat myself to some new holiday essentials. I’d already had an idea of what I wanted (and posted a wishlist last week), and although I didnt get exactly what was on my list – I’m still super happy!

Image

I bought way too much stuff and some of it was just normal holiday essentials, but I took pictures of the fun stuff for you!

The strange wonderous tassely capey thing is from Primark and is going to be perfect for a poolside cover up (it also makes me feel amazing when I wear it, my boyfriend thinks I’m really weird for wearing it around the house though…). Chloe spotted this and it was a bargain for £15.

Next, I found this lovely shift dress for £13 and this cream maxi skirt with a lace panel on the front for £10. These are both from Primark too, it’s the perfect shop for holiday buys!!

I had found my perfect sandals on the Topshop website but I wanted to try them before I bought them. Unfortunately my local shop didn’t have any but I found these gorgeous leather sandals in Office instead. I really like these, and I love the colour – they won’t match much of my clothes but this is a bonus for me! I hate coordinating! They look like they’re going to be really comfy too, and they were £32 without my 10% student discount so a super bargain!
