Our Summer Goals!

A & C: this summer we both have quite different goals/what we want to achieve, but its nice to have some plans on what we want to do over the summer months so thought we would share ours with you!

C: Obviously, if you are a regular reader of this blog you would know that I am pretty preggo now as I am due in September, so I am now on maternity leave – wahooo! So here is my list of things I want to do before my life is taken over by babies, feeds and dirty nappies!

1. Baking/Cooking! I never get time anymore to bake or spend an afternoon making a really nice meal. I am sure I won’t feel up to this all the time, but I can’t wait to actually have some spare time to make a nice cake or even make some jam/chutneys (which I love making!)

2. Read! No one ever has time for reading properly do they? I am hoping to make the most of the lovely summer weather (which probably will last about another week at the most realistically) and sit outside whilst I relax with some good books – recommendations welcome please!

3. Go to the beach! I love the beach, I don’t go in the water as I am pretty convinced I will die in a freak shark attack… but I love it all the same. Fish and chips, 2p machines, dinky doughnuts and walks in the sunshine? Yes please! I am determined to go this year before I get too tired out!

4. Take photos in the sunshine of some preggo OOTD’s! I am really disappointed in myself for not doing any of these yet. I would love to be able to look at other preggo styles/get some ideas on what to wear so I definitely need to do a few of these whilst the weather is perfect for photos! In fact I might get Annie to help me this weekend!

5. Finish unpacking my spare bedroom and therefore have space to do some crafts! I want to make some cushions for the nursery and some bunting – another project that Annie will have to help me with! Will definitely do some how-to posts on these badboys if I persuade her to help me!

A: I have a love/hate relationship with Summer, I love the warm evenings and days spent in the garden – but the super hot days just aren’t for me, so here are my plans/tips for staying cool!

1. Watch the sunsets. I’m well aware that this sounds soppy and ridiculous but we live in a part of the UK that’s incredibly flat which means the sunsets are epic. And our garden allows for amazing views because we are surrounded by fields. I love to end a hectic day sat down the bottom of our garden with a book, a cat and maybe (probably) a glass of wine. It’s super peaceful and so good for relaxing!

2. Slip and slides! Quite often on a weekend we end up with our niece and nephew playing in the garden, and after a full on couple of hours running around like crazies in the sun, what better way is there to cool down than a slip and slide?!

3. Wear orange lipstick! It’s one of my favourite colours to wear but it is pretty daring, especially with orange hair! But I love the way it looks so I need to push myself.

4. Go for walks. I really need to do this one, I’ve been eating healthily and being really good but I think going for some walks will make me feel even better. But I love being at home far too much and never want to leave the house!

5. Go camping. Another problem caused by not wanting to leave the house! We have a beautiful old campervan called Jeremy which we’ve used a couple of times this year, but we definitely need to have a few more long weekends away before it gets too chilly!

6. Last one I promise, but it’s an important one – make jam! One of my favourite things to do in the summer and if I’m lucky it lasts into the winter too! Will be posting recipes as soon as I make some!

What are your plans this summer? Let us know if you have any recommendations! #twolittleowls

#Loveis A Valentine’s OOTD ft. M&Co

A & C: With Valentine’s Day on it’s way, we’ve put together a V day look using this beautiful Wave Heart Print Cardigan from M&Co.

IMG_5480

IMG_5481
This is priced at £26.00, and has such a cute heart print with gorgeous red buttons – we love it. It’s made from a lovely lightweight knit too so it’s super wearable. Because of this, we are both going to style it in our own way to give you some inspo.

A: I love easy to wear cardigans like this, they can so easily be dressed up or down – but if I was off out for the evening I would team this with my favourite black swing dress, black tights and black chelsea boots. I’d go for a simple gold necklace and small gold hoop earrings – and of course winged eyeliner and red lips using my Sleek Matte Lip Cream. If you can’t wear red lipstick on Valentine’s Day, when can you!

C: normally I prefer a chunkier knit than this (my style isn’t very girly!) but who can say no to such a cute cardi! I would style this with a bright red loose vest top, my black super skinny jeans and my burgundy lace up heeled boots! Perfect for date night at the cinema/out for a meal!

You can find this cardigan by clicking here, and heading to the M and Co site.
We’d like to say a massive thank you to M and Co for this opportunity too, we really enjoyed putting these looks together! If you’d like to head to their blog, just click here!

A Sunday Sale Haul

A: Today, I went on a shopping trip with my Aunty – we were hunting for outfits and gifts for some events we both have coming up soon, but both got distracted by the sales and ended up having a lovely time. Our local department store had an amazing sale on and I got some real bargains.

IMG_5467
Firstly, this navy patterned dress. It’s from N & Willow – not a brand I’ve heard of before but it’s a simple jersey, beautifully cut dress and will be perfect for work. Although I don’t have a strict dress code for work, I do like to look fairly smart. It’s a lovely thin and comfortable fabric too so I will be able to wear it most of the year, but I think it’ll look best with boots and tights in the winter. This was originally £50 but reduced to £11.50.
This black top is from a brand called ‘Girls On Film’. This looks a lot better on, I promise. The lace trim on the hem dresses up the simple black shift shape and I think it’ll look best with a black tube skirt and some statement jewels (to follow!). Originally £28, reduced to £7.50!

IMG_5469

IMG_5468
I then spotted this amazing/slightly horrendous kimono. I really do love it though, it has sequins, velvet and tassels – what more could you want!! This is from Quiz clothing and I cannot wait to wear it. £35 reduced to £10 – and my aunty got one too! She’s off to a wedding next week during the evening and has a black jumpsuit to wear so this will finish it off perfectly.

IMG_5471

IMG_5472 This blouse is from one of my favourite brands; Vila. I loved going to the shop we got all of these from because they’ve stocked Vila for a while now – but this was the last of their stock as they are discontinuing the line! Sadly I didn’t get there quick enough to make the most of the reduced stock, but this blouse makes up for is because it really is beautiful. Admittedly, it doesn’t look much on the hanger or from the front – but the back is made from a huge pleated voile type fabric and it looks so pretty! I had to have it, and it was reduced to £10.50 from £35 – even better! Another purchase I can’t wait to wear.

IMG_5474
Lastly, some jewellery. I can never say no to some new jewels but chokers are a first for me. I really like the idea of them but I think they might make my neck look a bit fat?! I thought I’d take the plunge though because these ones from Miss Selfridge were only £2.50 each, both reduced from £9. They’re really pretty too and both have two parts for them so I actually got four necklaces for £5!
My aunty then found this amazing statement piece from Wallis. This was originally £20 but I got it for just £5! And it’s so pretty too! I wear these sort of colours all the time so it will slot in perfectly to my collection.
Finally, three sets of gold coloured hoops from Miss Selfridge, originally £8 but £2 in the sale. Some perfect staple earrings to wear every day.

So that’s all of my haul for today – I haven’t been shopping in a while, and neither Chloe or I went at all during the sales because we are both trying to save – but I thought I did pretty well today with these bargains so didn’t feel so bad!

What have you been buying in the sales? #twolittleowlsblog

Shirt: Asda
Pinafore Dress: Primark
Shoes: Primark

A: Something a little different today, a work OOTD. I actually work in an office so always have to look smart and presentable – but I never like to look boring. I steer away from suits and structured clothing because they just don’t suit me – I like to let my personality shine through, even if it’s just a little. This is one of my favourite things to wear for work. It’s super comfy, easy to wear and looks smart, and the shirt and dress do not crease at all – perfect. Although when I wear this my boyfriend always ask why I’m wearing my Tetris dress and why I don’t wear it with a shirt that matches. No idea what he is talking about, florals and checks go perfectly well together!

C:I love this outfit! It just shows that you can look smart for work whilst not looking boring, and showing off some personality! I think a lot of people are a little nervous about clashing prints, and this is the perfect way to start. Pick something a darker colour (like this pinafore dress) and then choose a brighter print to go underneath. As long as one of your prints is relatively simple, you can’t go wrong! Let us know if you try it!

A #dearsally Christmas OOTD

C: A Christmassy OOTD for you lovelies today! If you saw my #dearsally wishlist (which you can see here) then you may recognise this outfit!

photo(33)

After doing my #dearsally wishlist, the lovelies at Long Tall Sally were kind enough to send me the Christmas day outfit that I had chosen! So here is how it all looks together in real life, I added my favourite tartan scarf just to add to the festiveness as well as a red lip. What do you guys think?

The quality of the clothes is spot on, and I am especially in love with the boots! They are honestly just the perfect Chelsea boots, even L likes them – when normally he just moans I have too many shoes! The jumper is also a beautifully thin material, meaning it is perfect for being at work in those warm offices, or for Christmas shopping as you can look festive without being too hot! #twolittleowls

Blogmas 2014 Day 15 – share some Christmas outfits!

Share some Christmas outfits

A & C: We don’t know about you guys, but for as soon as we hit December – the Christmas jumpers are out. They are cosy, practical and have the bonus of looking amazing. So here’s some photo’s we took whilst wearing ours/wrapping presents/drinking Snowballs/watching Christmas films, and we even cracked out the red lipstick – hope you enjoy us looking super sexy!!

Cape: TK Maxx
Skirt: H&M
Top: Primark vest top
Cardigan: Dorothy Perkins (Annie’s!)
Boots: Doc Marten

C: To me, autumnal fashion is all about being cosy, as well as stylish. My “portable blanket” as my boyfriend calls it, is the perfect way to do this. It makes any simple outfit look well put together and I chose black and white so it would pretty much go with everything/anything! I styled these with a simple blue tube skirt, a black vest top and cardigan and my beloved Air Wares. Literally, haven’t worn anything else on my feet since I bought them! I think this outfit perfectly shows off my signature Autumn look, and capes are everywhere at the moment so make sure you get one!

A: I think that this is such a good look on Chloe – and blanket wraps are so easy to style. I do prefer them styled with a skirt, tights and boots though – rather that jeans, it just makes them look a little dressier, and the Doc Martens go perfectly with this look, giving it more of an edge. I have stolen Chloe’s wrap quite a few times, I am desperate for one myself but I don’t suit the monochrome trend so keeping my eyes peeled for a tartan one, please let me know if you’ve spotted one!

Dress: Vintage

Coat: Vintage

Shoes: New Look

C: I have always loved vintage, so when my beautiful nanny was having a clear out I obviously got first pick of the goodies (plus they don’t fit anyone else… what a shame). The dress and coat are AMAZING! They fit perfectly, and although I am not normally a dressy up sort of person during the day, I would totally wear this to a Christmas party. I was so pleased with these photos – Annie’s photography skills obvs – that I took them round to show my nanny and she was super excited that we were using her clothes! So crack on and make your nanny’s (and your wardrobes) happy, have a little looksie into those old closets and see if you can find some gems!

A: This is such an unusual look for Chloe, but I adore it. Normally she’s kicking around in her Doc Martens (see here!), but she looks so elegant and sophisticated in this outfit (say whattt?!). Her Nanny has SUCH a beautiful taste in clothes, and they fit Chloe perfectly. She is so lucky! And back in the day, clothes were made to be flattering – and this coat and dress really are. The beautiful beading on the dress is still in prefect condition, and the fabric looks brand new. Plus the coat is beyond amazing. We were pretty pleased with how these pictures turned and, and we are both convinced that it’s a result of THE coat (no offence Chloe). Sometimes, vintage just works in such a beautiful way!

Dress: Sainsbury’s (!!)

Cardigan: New Look

Boots: Dr. Marten

Necklace: Primark

C:I love this outfit! Its comfy, warm, practical and pretty. Perfecto. I couldn’t believe I found this dress in Sainsers! £15 in the sale as well, so soon go it home and teamed it with the DM’s and some knitwear – definitely my signature style! I don’t like to look too girly, so I always team up dresses etc with some sort of manly boots (girly shoes just don’t suit my feet, honest).

A: This outfit sums Chloe up. The girly 40’s style dress is really lovely, I want it so will definitely have to borrow it soon, and it’s super wearable too – dress it up with heels for a smart work dress, or team it with a cosy cardigan like Chloe has done, and you’ve got a perfect everyday look. I love them way she has teamed it with her Doc Martens too. She hasn’t stopped wearing them since she bought them (true story), and is a pro at mismatching looks and making them work. The floral print with the heavy boots and detailed gold necklace works perfectly!

Halloween Leopard Make-Up Tutorial

A: This isn’t a tutorial as such but we have been far too excited about Halloween recently, and we couldn’t wait any longer to practice our make-up for Halloween so with a take away and both of our make-up stashes at the ready we went for it (on a Wednesday night whilst wearing our pj’s…!). We couldn’t not take photos to show you all, so we thought we would give you a run down of how we created the looks. Please bear in mind that we are in no way qualified as make-up artists. I only wore mascara up until a year ago so I’m still learning! Chloe’s Sugar Skull tutorial is here, and here’s my practice run…

photo

I know that a leopard isn’t particularly scary, but I cannot tell you how much fun I had doing this. So I don’t even care that it isn’t scary – I’m being a leopard for Halloween. And a ginger one at that.

Here’s how I achieved the look…

1. Base. Apply a bb cream all over. You can use foundation obviously, but I wanted to let my freckles show through because after all, a leopard can never change it’s spots. I used Mac’s Prep and Prime BB Cream, which is what I use everyday anyway.

2. Contour! I used my bare Minerals powder in Warmth – which is a perfect colour for this look. I contoured heavily around my cheek bones, forehead and chin with a large brush. I then used a smaller brush to contour down my nose and up into my brows. I have really fair eyebrows so I used this powder to bulk them out too.

3. Eyes. First I applied Bootycall from my Naked 2 palette all over my lid, and underneath my eye too. I then used a matte brown eye shadow (one which I received in my You Beauty box this month, click here to see it!), in my crease with Half Baked from my Naked 2 palette. I took this out further than I normally would because the eyes are one of the main parts of this look. I then blended this out and up to my brow. I also took the Half Baked, which is a lovely gold shimmer, underneath my waterline. After the eyeshadow, I applied the liquid liner. This took A LOT of patience. I always wear a winged liner, but never like this before. And like I already said, I am no Beauty professional. Obviously it will be a lot neater when I do it on the night, and I will also fill in my waterline with a black pencil to make it even more dramatic. Undecided on whether to wear false lashes or not though, so your opinions would be great!

4. Leopard Spots! These were the part which were the most fun. Again, on the night I will do more of these, but I just wanted to get a feel for doing them on the practice run. They are so super easy to do, and I think they look really effective. I used a liquid liner to draw some ‘c’, ‘u’ and ‘o’ shapes, and then used a damp brush in the gold eye shadow to apply to the centre of some of the spots. I also used this eye shadow to highlight down bridge of my nose and the groove above my top lip. If you can find a lovely shimmery gold, it looks really effective.

5. Nose and Whiskers. I used the same liquid liner to draw an outline of my nose on my erm…nose. I then filled it in and added little spots below and flicks for whiskers. I used the liner to fill in my top lip too. I think this looks super effective, but you could use a red lipstick too if you wanted a different look!

I had so much fun creating this make-up and I can’t wait to show you the whole finished look! What are your Halloween plans? #twolittleowlsblog
