January’s Empties Part 1 – Skincare and Make-Up

C: hi guys! We have been taking a little break from blogging recently but I can’t get out of the habit of collecting my empties to share with you all. There’s a definite sense of achievement in using up so much of my stash! I did super well in Jan so I’m splitting it into two posts and will be sharing my body care items another day!

Make-Up and Nail Stuff

Seche Vite Top Coat- this is my holy grail nail polish top coat. It makes my mani last ages and gives it a lovely glossy finish, only problem with it is the last bit always goes gloopy and horrid.

Repurchase? Yes.

Essie Nail polish in silver glitter-Iv had this so long the name has rubbed off! I loved this as it gave good coverage for a glitter polish and lasted well.

Repurchase? Yes if I can find the same shade again. I won’t be buying it again any time soon though as I have loads of silver polishes to use up.

Benefit Porefessional Primer – another blogger favourite that I actually really liked. I went off it for a while but used this sample up whilst away with family and re fell in love with it. I had forgotten how great it is! I find other cheaper primers last the same over time but nothing compares to how well make up applies over this.

Repurchase? Yes!

Bourjois 123 Perfect CC Cream – I have dedicated a whole post to this as I really love it and it’s a CC cream that’s actually pale enough for me! This is perfect for those days where you aren’t wearing much make up but still want a flawless base.

Repurchase? Definitely.

ELF Eyebrow Kit – I loved this and used it every day for about a year! However since using it up and trying other products I realise it probably isn’t as amazing as I first thought. In comparison to others it is a little cakey and the applicator provided is awful!

Repurchase? No.

Soap & Glory Kick Ass Powder- another product I loved! This was perfect at setting foundation and keeping shine at bay! It also lasted way longer than most other powders Iv tried.

Repurchase? Hella yeah!

Skincare

Garnier Micellar Water- won’t go on about this as everyone in the world knows about it. Amazing.

Repurchase? Definitely

Clinique Moisture Surge – I got my usual Clinique moisturiser for Christmas but I have been trying to use up the many samples I have hanging about and I’m so glad I did as I love this! It’s perfect for winter when your skin needs extra attention but would be too heavy for me in summer I think.

Repurchase? Definitely next autumn.

The Body Shop Camomile Sumptuous Cleansing Butter- I am so proud of myself for using this up as it was never ending! Definite value for money there! This was great at removing make up but did eventually end up making my eyes pretty sore, I’m not sure why!

Repurchase? No.

Green people Hydrating Firming Serum – didn’t like this, it was good at moisturising but made my skin feel sticky some how? I also like to think I don’t need my skin firming so just not the product for me!

Repurchase? No.

Herbal Essences Hydrating Shampoo and conditioner- not skincare but had to add them in somewhere! I got these for my baba hospital bag but I’m gross and didn’t use them so decided to finally use them up to make room in my very crowded bathroom. Iv used this brand before but this time they made my hair look greasy and gave me a super itchy scalp so obviously don’t agree with me any more!

Repurchase? No.

So there we have the first part of my empties! Let me know if you agree with my mini reviews! #twolittleowls

December 2015’s Empties Part One : Facial Skincare and Make-Up!

C: so this month in a bid to use up lots of half used products in prep for my Christmas clear out I have used up a whopping 24 products! Because I have used so many I have split this post into two, so my body skincare, shower gels and hair care products will be discussed in my next post so I don’t bore you all too much with a super mega long post!

Facial Skincare

IMG_0914

The Body Shop Vitamin E Hydrating Toner – I actually stole this from Annie as I wanted to try it and she wasn’t in love, so cheers Annie, I have now used it up if you were hoping for it back… long story short, I didn’t love this. It didn’t irritate my skin, it removed any last traces of make up… but it was just a bit sticky? Which I find weird for a toner and didn’t make my skin feel especially clean or nice.

Repurchase? No.

Lush Tea Tree Water – this is currently my HG toner. It doesn’t irritate my sensitive skin but is powerful enough to actually make a difference on my spots and blemishes.

Repurchase? Hella yeah

Clinique Clarifying Lotion – this is one of those products that has been basically empty for about a year I swear but never ended. I only use this about twice a week, when I feel like my skin needs a deep clean or I have been wearing a lot of make up and want to make sure it has been removed properly. If I use this more often its just too strong for my sensitive skin and causes redness/itching. But I love it for those days when I have had cray cray make up (Im thinking of you, Halloween!).

Repurchase? Yes.

Soap & Glory Fab Pore Mask – it wouldnt be one of my empty posts if it didn’t feature some S&G products would it? I enjoyed using this (don’t leave it on too long else you will have a sad face) and it made my skin feel super clean. It also lasts ages considering its quite a small pot as you really don’t need much. As for pore minimising? I didn’t notice much, but realistically I don’t think any products achieve the ever searched for pore minimising-ness. Yep, thats deffo a word.

Repurchase? If I hadn’t already got about 6 other face masks to use up then yes.

First Aid Beauty Face Cleanser – I reviewed this here, so check out my review if you are interested in trying this.

Repurchase? Yes, its perfect for sensitive skin

Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturising Gel – another product we have previously reviewed.

Repurchase? If I hadn’t asked Santa for it then yes!

Make-Up

IMG_0916

Mac Matchmaster Foundation – this foundation is AMAZING. I love it, and its the perfect foundation if you are super pale like me as they have load’s of shades to match you too! This also lasted me a year!

Repurchase? Yes!

Benefit They’re Real Mascara – another product I have previously reviewed, but this bad boy is my HG mascara! I love it! Perfect for thick, long lashes that last all day!

Repurchase? Yes!

No7 Gold Glitter Top Coat – this has alas died of old age *insert sad face. I have had this about two years though so I really can’t complain! Due to all the glitter sinking to the bottom I seem to have used up all the nail varnish without the glitter… bad times! Love it though!

Repurchase? I already have another!

Korres Eyeliner – this used to be my go-to eyeliner. It is super soft and pigmented so I used this to create a feline flick on my upper lashes when I was too lazy to use liquid eyeliner! It also lasts all day without smudging (although it smudges a little if using on your lower lash line)

Repurchase? I would if I didn’t have a large amount of eye liners to use up!

So there we have the first part of my December empties! Hope you enjoyed it! Let me know if you have tried any of these products and agree with my mini reviews! #twolittleowls

Project Pan!

A & C: hi guys and welcome to our new feature: project pan! We may be a little late to the party on this one as we have seen so many project pan videos/posts and think it is an amazing idea! As beauty bloggers we end up with so many amazing products that just get pushed to the back of our stashes and never get used. Well we have decided that that is clearly a waste and we need some motivation to use up items in our stashes rather than just move on to the next new thing.

I know this is a Summer project for most people, and we are gonna stick with the lipstick theme for this Summer like everyone else, but every couple of months we are going to set ourselves a new target for project pan and keep you guys updated! If you would like to join us then let us know in the comments, and we can include links to your blogs etc. all we ask in return is a link back to this post when you set your project pan targets!

We shall be posting updates/FOTDs featuring our chosen lipsticks, and have decided (as we are as late to this as everything else) that we have until the end of September to use these bad boys up!

Chloe’s picks:

Clinique Chubby Stick in Watermelon – I love this beauty so much, that I have almost finished it and have been saving the last bit for some sort of special occasion that will never happen! I have loads of other chubby sticks waiting to be opened so that is why I chose this! It is also super easy to wear every day so think using it up is achievable!

Model Co Party Proof Lipstick in Kitty – One of my favourite Birchbox discoveries was this beauty. I loved it so much that I bought the set of 3… meaning I have two of these! Hence why I have chosen to use it up! It doesn’t break my heart too much to say goodbye when I know I already have another!

Soap and Glory Sexy Motherpucker Lipgloss – I reviewed this here, and apparently lip glosses don’t have an excellent use by date once opened so thought I would choose this. I also feel like a chubby stick, lipstick and lip gloss are three very different options so I have something for every occasion – meaning I won’t get too bored of using these up!

Annies Picks:

Avon Colour Trend in Coral Wisp – I love a good Avon bargain as much as the next beauty blogger, and this is a beauty. It has a gorgeous pale coral colour which is super buildable and ideal for summer. Plus it smells amazing!

Model Co Party Proof in Kitty – I’m totally with Chloe on the one, it’s one of my faves. But don’t worry – I have another in my lipstick stock so I won’t mind using it either! It’s really wearable and goes with pretty much any look – day or night!

Rimmerl Lasting Finish in Birthday Suit – this is a true oldie, I can’t even remember when I got it and I forgot how lovely it is. It’s a for fours nude with a gold shimmer, so another summer perfect lip product. I’m really looking forward to getting back into this – but I have a feeling I might be sad when it’s all gone!

So what do you guys think of project pan?! Let us know if you want to get involved and if so what you think our theme should be for the end of September! We can’t wait to get started designing some make up looks with these badboys! #twolittleowls

Review: Clinique Pore Refining Solutions Instant Perfector

C: this was an accidental, panic purchase a while ago… I wanted my dramatically different moisturising gel, and there was a free gift if you bought two items. So obviously I HAD to have the free gift! The lady at the counter helped me pick this out, and even though I have a few pore related issues (as in they are gigantic) I just shoved this in my stash and didn’t even try it for ages!

photo 2

“Look smooth and virtually flawless with pores that appear more than 50% smaller-instantly. Natural-looking matte finish lasts up to 8 hours. Resists sweat, humidity. In two skin tone shades or Invisible Bright for subtle brightening.”

So do I agree with Cliniques claims? All you do with this is apply it like a primer before your foundation (or alone if you don’t wear foundation). You only need a tiny amount for your whole face, which is good really as it is £20 for 15ml (available here).

I then have to say that it really does smooth your skin and make pores appear smaller. I have absolutely no idea how, its quite strange really. It provides a good base to apply make up, so your foundation doesn’t slip around over it/fall off your face. I am not entirely sure whether it is sweat resistant, as I try to ensure that I avoid sweating at all costs but as I am going to be heavily pregnant over summer I am sure I will be able to report back on that one!

So Cliniques product lives up to it’s impressive claims but… for some reason I just don’t love this product. I have no idea why, I just forget to use it. However, if you fancy trying this, I would say it is similar to Benefits Porefessional (and similar in price really!), so if you enjoy that you will more than likely love this too!

Anyone else tried this from Clinique? What were your thoughts? #twolittleowls

Chloe’s Spring Wishlist!

C: It is super sunny outside at the moment, and although it isnt exactly warm yet it is making me very excited for the coming Summer! So I thought, what better way to celebrate then by putting together a Spring Wishlist, in the hope that some lovely person decides to treat me to all these beautiful things (wishful thinking eh?)!

photo(39)

1. Asos Maternity Skater Dress in Check £28 – okay so most of you are not interested in maternity clothes, but I think we can all appreciate this as a great dress in its own right. I love checked prints, so this would be perfect for the Spring weather, as it would also look great with tights when its a bit chillier!

 2. Clinique Long Last Matte Lipstick £18 – recently Clinique have really upped their make up game and refreshed their lipstick line. I love their skincare so much, but have never been that interested in their make up until seeing these badboys. I think the Matte Petal shade (a super soft, girly pink) would be my first choice for Spring.

 3. Topshop Semi Previous Teardrop Necklace £10 – layering up jewellery is super on trend at the moment, so this necklace is the perfect place to start if you are unsure! I love the green colour, as it would make the perfect contrast to so many outfits.

 4. New Look Tan Leather Woven Sandals £24.99 – my favourite sandals finally died of old age so I had to throw them away at the end of last Summer (booooo) so I have been on the search for the perfect pair. I love the woven effect of these, brown goes with everything AND they slip on, so I dont have to panic that I won’t be able to do my own shoes up soon once super pregnant! Perfect!

So there is what I am currently lusting after, what about you guys? What do you think of my choices? #twolittleowls

Review: Clinique Moisture Surge Extended Thirst Relief Moisturiser

C: oh here I go again… another moisturiser review. My skin has been so dry recently I have had to change up my routine, something I absolutely hate doing as I prefer to stick with products that I know work for me. Instead this has forced me to look through my stash and use up some of the many other products I have hiding away, and one little gem that has been discovered is this amazing Clinique moisturiser! I have always been a fan of Clinique skincare, and the Dramatically Different Moisturising Gel is usually my go to moisturiser, so I had high hopes for this – and as usual, I am super clever and was right!

photo 2-24

First up isn’t this little pot super cute? The fact it is miniature and pink makes me way too happy. I clearly need a life. But anyway, my only problem with the packaging itself is that I hate having to put my fingers in a pot for skincare for my face! It just seems so unhygienic! But I suppose if you are less lazy than me you could use something to remove the product from the pot, or just shove it on your face and not moan. Either way.

Onto the product itself, as a moisturiser it is pretty dayum impressive and definitely lives up to its super long name. All of my dry patches were gone with one use! No joke. One use. It didn’t break me out or clog up my skin so I was pretty happy. However, I personally found it too heavy to use as a day cream under my make up, as I have pretty oily skin so it did make me extra shiny. To combat this I used my Clinique Gel Moisturiser in the morning and just used this as almost a face mask over night. All dry skin gone and no hint of oily skin! It sinks in quickly and doesn’t feel heavy on the skin so it was a pleasure to use at night. I would deffo recommend for anyone with super dry skin like me!

Have any of you guys tried this? #twolittleowls

Fearne: Made You Look – Review & Make-Up Look

C: If you saw my Christmas beauty haul post (which is here if you fancy a look) you will know that I received the Fearne: Made You Look set which I was super excited about! I love Fearne Cotton’s style, and her make up is always flawless so I had high hopes for this set!

photo 1(23)

First of all the packaging is amazing! It contains 3 eyeshadows, a glitter pot, eyeshadow base and a double ended applicator. The eyeshadows do not have names that I can see, but there is a peachy shade, a kahki and a mink like colour. Excellent descriptions there… ha! They are all shimmery but there is very little fall out and they are easy to blend together.

photo 3(13)

Above are the swatches so you can see the colours yourself, if you can describe them better then please give it a go! These swatches are done without a primer, and with the beautiful pearlescent eye shadow base they are even more pigmented. So here is the look I created with these beauties:

photo(36)

I used the darker shade in the crease, with the mink colour as an all over lid colour. I then used the pinky/peachy shade in the inner corners of my eyes and as a highlighter! I finished the look with a flick of liquid eye liner and some mascara! As I was going for a natural look I matched this with my Clinique Chubby Stick in Watermelon, but for a night out I would add the gold glitter and use a nice red lipstick instead!

Let us know what you think of this look, or if you also received this set for Christmas! Can’t wait to hear from you #twolittleowls
