Summer Love Tag

11mf6dw

The beautiful Scarlet at Anxiously Bold tagged us for this and we thought it would be really fun to do, so here goes!

1. Summer lipstick you’re loving?

C: Mac in Creme Cup – Annie got me it for my birthday and I love it so much!

A: Revlon in Peach 075 (see it in our haul here)

2. Summer nail polish you’re loving?
C: Models Own scented nail polish in “Grape” is the perfect Summer pastel lilac. I also love Annie’s choice too!

A: Soigne polish in Persimmon, another review here from us -but it really is the best nail polish!

3. Bikini you’re loving?
C:I haven’t been on holiday this year (apart from our long weekend glamping) so haven’t worn any bikinis!

A: I took this bikini top from Topshop on holiday this year – it’s so so comfy and flattering, and I wore it with leopard print bottoms.

4. Favourite summer frappuccino from Starbucks?
C: I don’t really go to Starbucks… but if I did I prefer sweet flavours. So probably a caramel or vanilla one!

A: I don’t drink coffee – but I am loving Costa’s Strawberries and Cream coolers. Amazing.

5. Favourite fake tan?
C: I don’t normally fake tan, I’m happy with my ghost like skin. However, after actually going outside this year, I did get some dodgy tan marks that I used gradual tanners on to cover up. I tired the St Tropez Gradual Tan and the Nip + Fab 365 Body Glow Fix and was suprised/impressed with both of them.

A: Erm I don’t fake tan. I’m super pale/practically blue and the thought of slathering myself in something orange is just not appealing – esp as I have really orange hair.

6. Favourite summer song?
C: Obviously “Summertime” by Will Smith!

A:I love West Coast by Lana Del Rey

7. Favourite summer accessories?

C: My sunglasses and midi rings. I can’t wear necklaces/bracelets when I am hot as they irritate me!

A: My cat eye sunglasses – I never leave the house without them!

8. Favourite summer fragrance/perfume?
C: CKIN2U

A: Honey by Marc Jacobs

9. Summer book you’re loving?
C: I’m currently reading “Love in the Time of Cholera” by Gabriel Garcia Marquez. What is more Summery than love?!

A: I read The Rosie Project by Graeme Simsion whilst I was on holiday – it’s such a good read!

10. What are you most excited to do this summer?
Summer is almost over but we had a pretty fun time – we spent a weekend glamping (see the post here) and we are off to the #bloggersfest next week (ahhhhhhhh!). But we are also really excited about Winter, the woolly tights and knitted jumpers in particular. We have both been knitting over the last few weeks, with lessons from Annie’s mum so we will show you our progress soon!

We would like to tag An English Rose from Manchester, Jasmin Charlotte Lifestyle and milliemakeup Have fun girls! #twolittleowls

A Beautiful Glamping Weekend

C & A: As some of you lovely followers may know, we had a little holiday this weekend which has been planned for a while and coincided with Chloe’s birthday. We are pretty lucky that our boyfriends are pretty much as bezzie as we are so the four of us like to go on an annual camping trip, along with our friend Spen.

Last year we visited the lovely Amber’s Bell Tents in Norfolk, and wrote up a review here. We had such a good time last year that we tried to book again but Amber has been super busy with bookings, and deservedly so because her bell tents and the surroundings are beautiful (there’s a link to Amber’s website on our review if you’re interested in booking!).

Because we live close to Norfolk and we love it so much, we decided to head to a similar area and after a bit of googling we found the perfect place.

Norfolk Glamping and Yurt Holidays have two sites, one based at Yaxham Waters with traditional mongolian yurts and a train carriage, and the other in Filby with bell tents and tipis. We decided to head to the Yaxham based site because it’s a little closer to us and there’s two fishing lakes on site – perfect to keep the boys occupied for the whole weekend. Plus, none of us had stayed in a yurt before and the pictures on the site looked amazing.

We booked from Friday night for 3 nights and after a quick trip to Morrisions on Friday morning for essentials (cheese and wine), we were packed and ready to go with the Frozen soundtrack for company along the way – the boys went in their own car, I’m not sure they could’ve dealt with us being super excited and singing ‘Do You Wanna Build a Snowman’ for an hour.

Most importantly, we beat the boys to the campsite and when we arrived, Shane the super lovely owner showed us round. We unpacked the cars and got settled in, and went for a bimble around the site. There were even chickens and goats, along with the fishing lakes!

The yurts are based in their own little camping area, and there’s also an area for caravans and tents – as well as the availabilty to hire lodges. We can highly recommend this for camping – whether you have a tent, caravan or are looking to hire a yurt or lodge, the site is lovely with a fully stocked farmshop, cafe, shower block and beautiful, peaceful views.

Inside the yurts is a double bed (a real bed whilst camping, what more could you want?!), some cute armchairs and a sofa bed – as well as some lovely wooden cabinets full of plates, saucepans and anything else you many need.

Super excited at having a proper bed for camping!

There’s also a gas stove for brews in the morning and a woodburner too in case its a little chilly. Although there was no electricty, there were laterns hanging inside and a good supply of tealights which create such a lovely atmosphere and give off plenty of light. The fur rugs and cushions are lovely finishing touches and make the yurt feel super cosy. Outside the yurt is a hammock and a seating area, along with a fire pit, bbq and communal pizza oven – perfect for the evenings.

Chloe with super cool camping hair…

On Chloe’s birthday, we had bacon sandwiches and Buck’s Fizz for breakfast, and whilst the boys went fishing, Chloe and I took a trip out to Swaffham. The weather was so sunny, and we checked out the local farmer’s market, an antiques market and the local charity shops – as well as having an essential break for ice-creams. We also went out for a lovely meal in the evening and managed to get a photo of us all!

On Sunday, we ventured out to Dunston Hall Antiques fair (and we only got a little bit lost). The hall was beautiful and the grounds too, but we didn’t stay too long at the fair because it was all very expensive and posh – we like to have a good rummage around a car boot or an emporium. So we stopped off at a village pub on the way back to the campsite for a ploughman’s lunch, because we hadn’t had enough cheese already.

Dunston Hall – a little too posh for us!

Monday was the day to come home, the weekend went so quickly! Annie knew about an amazing antiques emporium that we could stop off at on the way home though, so it made the journey a little more exciting. The Emporium in Long Sutton is jam-packed with amazing goodies, and you can always guarantee finding some sort of gem hidden away for a bargain. If you know of an emporium in your local area and haven’t been, you need to go! You can normally find information about them on the internet quite easily (Antiques Atlas is a really good website for this!).

Just chilling.

We had such a lovely time that we wanted to share our photos and experience with you. If you like this post, please let us know! We would love to know what your holiday plans are too, and if you can recommend any Glamping sites in the UK!

We will be posting photos of all of our lovely purchases over the next week or so, so why not give us a cheeky follow #twolittleowls

July Birchbox: Sun, Sea & Sand

20140713-171556-62156072.jpg

A: if you’re one of our lovely followers, you’ll probably have seen Chloe’s July Birchbox first impressions a few days ago (if not you can find it here). Although I got the same in my July box, here’s my first impressions…

WELEDA MILLET NOURISHING SHAMPOO. Full size is £8.95, sample value is £0.85.
I’m a massive fan of this brand and I’m hoping this is going to be as good as it’s smells! It’s is a pretty small sample and I’ll probably only get one use out of it, but I’m looking forward to reviewing it!

BALANCE ME WONDER EYE CREAM. Full size is £20, sample value is £9.33.
I don’t actually use an eye cream in my beauty regime, but I will be adding this in to see if there’s any major advantages I’m missing out on.

LAQA & CO SHEER LIP LUBE PENCIL IN MENATOUR. Full size is £14.00, sample value is £7.57.
Okay I am going to be totally honest about this…it’s a horrible colour. I’m really surprised I got sent this colour because I’ve filled in my surveys on the Birchbox website and I can’t speak for all gingers out there but for me, purple is 100% a no go for lipstick. Or anything actually. Plus it’s got a really weird mint scent?! I won’t ever use this. Unless I’m going to a fancy dress party as a crazy witch/Ursula from The Little Mermaid.

GILCHRIST & SOAMES ENGLISH SPA SEA KELP EXTRACT MINERAL BATH. Full size is £11.25, sample value is £1.90
This is a pretty well known brand, and it smells lovely. It’s a pretty good sample size too, and in a hot bath I’m sure it’s going to be perfect for relaxing.

WHISH THREE WISHES LAVENDER BODY BUTTER. Full size is £14.50, sample value is £2.13.
I was a little dubious about this, although I love lavender – it is a little old lady-ish. But it doesn’t really smell of lavender – it actually smells super yummy. I almost want to eat it. I’ll be popping this in my handbag to use as a hand cream, and it should last a while because it’s a good size!

ULTRADEX ORAL SPRAY. Full size which is worth £3.65.
This was my favourite product this month, which is a little weird as it’s classed as the lifestyle extra. I’ve already tested it and it tastes really good!

The total value of this months box is £25.43, and it cost £12.95 including p&p – this is really good value and Birchbox even included a sneak peek card of what’s going to be included in the August box which is exciting! I’m reasonably happy with this months box, but the theme of Sun, Sea & Sand was a little off as I can’t see how the products follow this.

What did you receive in your Birchbox this month? #twolittleowls

Regis: Holiday Hair Beauty must-haves

A & C: Regis Salons have recently launched their *brand new* online store, and we’ve had a bit of a gander to find our favourite products for sun protection in this lovely weather. We both have long, super thick hair so hair care is pretty important to us, and after we saw their competition lauch – we knew we had to give it a go.

ultimate-radiance-shampoo-360ml-157473ultimate-radiance-conditioner-360ml-157996

DESIGNLINE Ultimate Radiance Shampoo

“Achieve beautiful, vibrant, energized hair with DESIGNLINE Ultimate Radiance Shampoo 350ml which revitalizes and protects your hair.”

DESIGNLINEUltimate Radiance Conditioner

“Get the beautiful, vibrant hair you want with DESIGNLINE Ultimate Radiance Conditioner 355ml which instantly detangles, heals and conditions hair.”

We had to include these as a pair, because they are SUCH bargains and it’s always nice to have a shampoo and conditioner as a set. Designline is also Regis Salon’s own line of hair care. The shampoo has a sulfate free formula which removes chlorine (perfect for days spent in the pool!) and impurities without stripping the moisture from you hair.

And if your hair is feeling dry because of too much time in the sun, Regis recommends the conditioner because it replenishes hydration and provides ultimate smoothness – leaving your hair with a radiant shine. What more could you want? They cost just £8.99 each – a baragin and available here if you’re as tempted as us.

DESIGNLINE Olive Oil Restoring Oil

“Rich in vitamins and antioxidants DESIGNLINE Olive Oil Restoring Oil is just what you need to create sleek, smooth styles with no frizz.”

Another pick from Regis’s own range, olive oil based products are perfect for sun and uv protection. This has been designed to soften and hydrate your hair, leaving your hair looking and feeling amazing. You can find it here for £11.49.

hydrating-balm-250ml-78081

DESIGNLINE Hydrating Balm

“If your hair is in need of a bit of moisture then our stylist recommend DESIGNLINE Hydrating Balm 250ml which will leave your hair touchably soft, moist and supple.”

Regis introduce this as a ‘spa day’ for your hair, and after you’ve worked hard for all those hours relaxing in the sun, your hair would be in a need of a treat – and this looks perfect. £11.49 is pretty reasonable for such a luxury, you can find it here.

Annie’s Holiday Wish List/Essentials: Part 2

A: this is a little late for a holiday wishlist, considering I’m going tomorrow – but Chloe and I have been trés busy with Birthday antics, so I’ve combined my wish list and essentials into one.

Image

1. I found this Nivea Protect and Bronze spray whilst I was supposed to be food shopping in Morrisons yesterday. It perfect for me because I’m so pale and pasty, but it promises to support skin’s natural tanning ability because it contains a natural plant extract which helps support skin’s own melanin production – clever! It was a bargain too, on offer for £5!

Image

2.  These are an essential for any nail varnish addict. I have already packed and excessive choice of nail varnishes for my trip – what better way to relax than by the poolside with a cocktail whilst painting your nails? These are from Superdrug and were £1.50.

Image

3. My hairdresser told me about this when I had my hair cut last week – it’s really hard to find colour enriching hair products for natural ginger/red hair. I still haven’t bought this, but I may have to dash to the hairdressers tonight because my hair tends to go really blond in the sun, and you always need a good conditioner whilst you’re abroad to stop the heat and chlorine damaging your hair. This Aveda Conditioner ‘enriches warm tones in dark and red shades of hair. Madder root helps purify scalp and hair; natural colours help add and intensify red hues’. It’s £20 for 250ml and you can buy it online here.

Image

4. I normally wear bare Minerals foundation, but this is what I will be using whilst I’m on holiday. Because bare Minerals is a powder, it can dry my skin out – and I won’t need any more drying out whilst I’m in 30+ degree heat so I’ve gone for this BB cream. I’ve never used a bb cream before but I’m hoping it’s going to work for me.  I can’t really wear normal foundation because it makes my freckles look really strange and as I had some Birchbox points to use, I thought I would order this to try it out. You can buy it here for £15.

Holiday Haul

A: Yesterday was a good day for me, I went on a bit of a shopping spree with some birthday money I had been given as an early present. Because I’m going on holiday next week, I though I might as well treat myself to some new holiday essentials. I’d already had an idea of what I wanted (and posted a wishlist last week), and although I didnt get exactly what was on my list – I’m still super happy!

Image

I bought way too much stuff and some of it was just normal holiday essentials, but I took pictures of the fun stuff for you!

The strange wonderous tassely capey thing is from Primark and is going to be perfect for a poolside cover up (it also makes me feel amazing when I wear it, my boyfriend thinks I’m really weird for wearing it around the house though…). Chloe spotted this and it was a bargain for £15.

Next, I found this lovely shift dress for £13 and this cream maxi skirt with a lace panel on the front for £10. These are both from Primark too, it’s the perfect shop for holiday buys!!

I had found my perfect sandals on the Topshop website but I wanted to try them before I bought them. Unfortunately my local shop didn’t have any but I found these gorgeous leather sandals in Office instead. I really like these, and I love the colour – they won’t match much of my clothes but this is a bonus for me! I hate coordinating! They look like they’re going to be really comfy too, and they were £32 without my 10% student discount so a super bargain!

Annie’s Holiday Wish List: Part 1

A: So as i’m sure you’ve noticed (because I’m SO excited!) I am off on holiday soon, and I’ve been trawling the internet to find some holiday goodies. There’s so many new things that I obviously need to buy that I thought I’d do them in two parts; my clothes and accessories wish list today, and my beauty wish list in Part 2.

Image

Top of the list is this amazing swimsuit. I’ve already got a couple of bikinis ready to pack but I though I had better find something for those days where I’ve eaten too much and need to hide the belly. I love this Ferdinand Monokini, it covers all the right places and I’m not particularly blessed in the boob department so the fringing on this will be perfect for me. I found this on Asos for £52.00.

I love a good hat and I’m so pale and pasty that I burn really easily so this Accessorize sun hat is a must have for me – £25.00.

Holiday footwear is always a bit of a problem for me. I am super picky because I HATE toeposts and my massive cankles mean I have to be really careful with ankle straps. Once I’ve found a pair I love, I pretty much wear them to death and I spotted these in Topshop the other day  – I think I’m onto a winner with them. They are made from really soft leather and will be perfect for the evenings with either a maxi dress or a shorter dress. A bargain too, they are only £30.00.

I’m loving the whole 90’s vibe that’s going on at the minute, including the jelly shoes! It is a little scary though, cosidering I’m only 24 and the things I used to wear are coming back round again! I love this 90’s twin set from Ark. It looks great together or it can be worn as separates – it’s so versatile! £19.99.
