Review: No7 Nail Polish Collection

C: I realised today that I have not spoken much on this blog about one of my absolute favourite brands: No7! I think it is so underestimated by beauty bloggers/everyone and really is fabulous quality, so I am going to start a series of posts looking at the brand! Today I am going to start with my nail polish collection, which I absolutely love. Every time there is a No7 voucher going round I like to pick up a new colour, and my parents always get me no7 nail polish sets for Christmas as they know I love them!

photo 2(33)

From left to right the colours I own are: gold glitter top coat, daisy darling, silver glitter top coat, temptress, stand back, beanie, damson dream, hot to trot and totally teal. (Apologies for the washing machine in the bottom of the photo… its hard to lay on the floor and take photos when almost 6 months preggo!)

Obviously the glitter bad boys are BEAUTIFUL, and then I think “temptress” is my favourite shade – it is apparently a dupe for Chanels Rouge Noir, although I personally don’t own that so I can’t vouch for it! The colours are beautiful, and here is a photo of a mani I recently created using the bright blue shade “stand back”.

This is with no top coat applied, so you can see how glossy the formula is! This bottle is also about 5 years old… and still applies smoothly and hasn’t gone clumpy. I have literally never had to throw a no7 nail polish out unless I have completely ran it out. It is magical.

The brush is also perfectly shaped to fit the contours of your nails, meaning it is perfect for nail polish beginngers as two swipes and you are done! Two coats later and you have the perfect manicure that lasts for a good 3 days alone or about a week with a nice topcoat on top!

Have any of you guys tried any no7 nail polishes? Do you love them too? Let me know if you decide to invest in any – particularly if you get those fabulous £3 off vouchers! These polishes are available for £6 each from here #twolittleowlsblog

OOTD: parkers, vintage scarves and glittery jumpers

photo 1 photo 2 photo 3 photo 4

Parker: George at Asda

Jumper: Primark

Skirt: New Look

Boots: TK Maxx

Scarf: Vintage

Necklace: Vintage

A: This is a usual everyday look for me for this time of year. You will never see me in a pair of trousers (unless they are pyjamas), skirts and dress are so much comfier. I love this tartan one because it can be worn with pretty much anything, like a glittery jumper! The scarf works perfectly because it brings a bit of colour to the outfit, and my cameo necklace is one I wear all the time. Plus this coat is so so cosy, with its massive hood and faux fur linging – it makes me so happy! I actually bought it last year and I was so excited to get it out this year.

What’re your fave ootd’s for this time of year?

OOTD: florals, knitwear and doc martens

Dress: Sainsbury’s (!!)

Cardigan: New Look

Boots: Dr. Marten

Necklace: Primark

C:I love this outfit! Its comfy, warm, practical and pretty. Perfecto. I couldn’t believe I found this dress in Sainsers! £15 in the sale as well, so soon go it home and teamed it with the DM’s and some knitwear – definitely my signature style! I don’t like to look too girly, so I always team up dresses etc with some sort of manly boots (girly shoes just don’t suit my feet, honest).

A: This outfit sums Chloe up. The girly 40’s style dress is really lovely, I want it so will definitely have to borrow it soon, and it’s super wearable too – dress it up with heels for a smart work dress, or team it with a cosy cardigan like Chloe has done, and you’ve got a perfect everyday look. I love them way she has teamed it with her Doc Martens too. She hasn’t stopped wearing them since she bought them (true story), and is a pro at mismatching looks and making them work. The floral print with the heavy boots and detailed gold necklace works perfectly!

What do you guys think? Let us know! #twolittleowls

Annie’s Autumn Fashion Wishlist

A: Following Chloe’s wishlist last week, I’ve created a wishlist with all of my Autumn favourites. I love jumpers, knitwear, woolly tights and boots so this is my favourite time of year (well almost, technically it should still be sunny in September but its pouring with rain as I type this).

Louche Cesia Floral Dress – originally £55 but just £20 in the sale from Joy the Store

I really love this dress and cannot believe what a bargain it is. It is a little summery for Autumn, but team it with a bright knit and some navy woolly tights and I’d be good to go. I think it would be super wearable and the print is just too pretty to resist.

Louche Dovanna Jumper – £42 from Joy the Store

This is from the same site as the floral dress (you really need to go check it out, I basically want to buy everything from there), and I LOVE it. I love layering jumpers over dresses, and this would look so good with the floral dress I’ve chosen. It is a little on the pricey side, but it definitely counts as an investment.

Helen Berman Maribo Cable Knit Beanie – £40 from Urban Outfitters

A hat in an Autumn wishlist is a must, and this beanie is amazing. Again, it is a little pricey but I love it. So that’s totally allowed.

Road Trip Suede Desert Boots – £55 from ASOS

I’ve been after some boots in this style for so long and I love these so much. Perfect for dressing up an outfit or everyday wear.

*Obviously as I (unfortunately) do not own these items, these photos are from the companies websites 🙂

Morning Skincare Routine

C: now I am in no way saying that I am a beauty expert, but one thing I do know quite a lot on is skin care. After years of struggling to find products that work for my skin I have tried so many different things (that both work and don’t!). I helped Annie sort out her skin care routine a while ago, so we thought it would be a nice idea to share my routine and products for anyone who is struggling to find a solution for them!

Please keep in mind that I have dry, sensitive skin that is prone too break outs and blocked pores. I think these products would be suitable for anyone with similar skin/problems and will make suggestions for other skin types where I can!

So first up I like to wash my face whilst in the shower and I have been using the Simple Moisturising Facial Wash. This stuff never irritates my skin or causes me to break out in spots, it just gives a nice start to the morning – clean skin! I think this product would be suitable for any type of skin.

Next I use the No7 Beautiful Skin cleansing lotion to make sure all dirt is removed and my skin is thoroughly cleansed (Or the panda eyes from Benefits They’re Real is removed – impossible to get it all off I swear). Once again another product that can be used every day and doesn’t irritate. I am not sure whether this would be too much for someone with oily skin – I would suggest a cleansing lotion or Micellar Water cleanser may be more appropriate but my skin personally needs the moisture.

Every other day instead of the cleansing lotion I use Lush’s Let The Good Times Roll (which we reviewed in full here), which is an exfoliating cleanser. This is so gentle I can use it every other day, removing any dry skin patches and ensuring my foundation applies nicely. Would recommend for any skin type, and it multi tasks as an exfoliator for your body too!

A couple of times a week I use the Clinique Clarifying Lotion. This literally removes every speck of dirt/make up from your face. Even after a double cleanse this bad boy can find some more – genius. This is too strong for using on my skin regularly so I just used it every now and again to clear out my pores. I think this would be perfect for anyone whose skin is less sensitive and if you go to a Clinique counter they will match one to your skin type for you!

Last up is the Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturising Gel. I use this every day and it is the only moisturiser I think I will ever use. Its amazing. For a full review please click here.

I hope you have found this post helpful, if you have any questions about these products or need some recommendations (or have some for me!) please do comment. I have be posting my night time routine tomorrow! #twolittleowlsblog

modelsown nail varnishes: a review

A & C: So we have been lusting after these modelsown speckled egg nail varnishes, and we got some in our latest haul as they were on offer in Boots (any 2 items from modelsown for £8 – bargain). We both got different colours so thought we would share a photo and our thoughts with you!

C: This is delightfully large picture of my manly hands. Fortunately the beautiful nail varnish makes up for the hands! I got the “Duck” colour which is a beautiful pale blue (naming then after birds is adorable!) with black specks through out, a perfect colour for Spring! I really liked this nail varnish, it was easy to apply (I thought it would be a bit like applying glitter nail varnish but it was a smooth and quick process) and most importantly it lasted a long time. It even survived the dreaded washing up test – the boyfriend doesn’t agree that if you have painted your nails you can’t possibly wash up.

A: I chose the “Magpie” green (I need to stop buying green nail varnishs but I just can’t help it!), and I was also surprised by how smoothly it applied. It did last a suprisingly long time and didn’t chip much either. The first time I wore it, I didn’t apply a top coat and it was still really durable, I also performed a nail varnish sin and didn’t apply a base coat (I was way too excited to try it) but it came off so easily and didn’t stain my nail bed. This is the first modelsown nail varnish I’ve bought, but it defintaley won’t be the last! Very happy!

Have you tried the #speckledegg range form modelsown? #twolittleowls
