November’s empties

C: I have missed doing these posts so much! I love a good empties pile, makes me feel super productive especially just before Christmas! Alas, this empties is slightly lacking on the productive front… I have so many products that are super close to the end but just not quite there yet, so hopefully Decembers empties will be slightly more impressive!

Soap & glorys hand food. An essential in my house, especially due to having eczema and doing lots of washing up (children make so much mess) so my hands are always dry and sore if I’m not regularly using a hand cream. I love this one from soap & glory, it smells amazing and is super moisturising. Only downside is it takes a while to sink in so this tends to be one I keep by my bed to use over night!

Repurchase? Yes!

Mitchum deodorant… wouldn’t normally include this in an empties post. Deodorant isn’t usually exciting, but for me this is! Normally I react to most deodorants or after a while I hate the smell of them? I have been using this (not this exact one) one for several years now and it’s literally the best.

Repurchase? If you like smelling nice and not being a sweatybetty this is a life essential. So yes.

Batiste dry shampoo for dark hair. I hate batiste a bit? Like others are so much better but it’s so easy to get hold of that I just end up panic buying it whenever I go shopping. The brown one is much better though and I actually get on with it much better than the uncoloured ones that take six years to remove the grey spray from my hair!

Repurchase? Probs yes, although I’m going to try super hard to remember to try something else next time!

Body shop mango shower gel- now are you not impressed that I have finished up that massive shower gel?! L helped… but still. I love body shop shower gels and there is always at least one in my shower on the go, however I wasn’t that keen on this scent, it was too sweet and sickly got me!

Repurchase? Yes but not this flavour!

Finally we have Dr lipps nipple butter which is actually a mini lip balm! I bloody love this stuff, it’s super thick and moisturising without being sticky (literally looks like you have shiny lip gloss on) and keeps your lips in perfect condition ready for red lipstick season! It doesn’t dry your lips out even more so you have to keep reapplying for the rest of your life (Vaseline I’m looking at you) so it’s taken me about 4 months just to use up this tiny sample!

Repurchase? I would if I didn’t already have a full size ready to go!

So there we have my mini empties post! Hopefully my December empties will be more impressive and include some of the items I’m hoping to finish up before Christmas! Send me a link to your empties too, I love reading them!

Review: current fave nude.

C: the majority of the time I wear a nude/brown lipstick. So when I find one I love I literally wear it for weeks until I’m bored of it… however have I found the love of my life lipstick wise? I might just be ready to settle down.

This is the perfect my lips but better shade for me! It isn’t drying, feels comfortable on the lips and I love the colour. This one is shade 45 and is perfect for those with pale skin tones but dark hair and eyes.

Not the best selfie… but you get the idea! The perfect lipstick for a relaxed every day make up look. The only down side is it isn’t particularly long wearing. It isnt terrible?! Lasts a good couple of hours, but if you eat or drink anything it’s going to need reapplying (although it fades nicely so you don’t look ridiculous in between applications!) which is fine for such a budget friendly lipstick (this is normally on offer or on sale so you can pick it up for under a fiver!)

Any of you guys tried this lasting finish by Kate lipstick? Any other colours I should be investing in/a long lasting colour dupe?!

The ultimate child proof make up storage?

C: afternoon! A little DIY job (that I can’t take full credit for) today in the form of make up storage! Now Ivy is partial to a lipstick or ten. Eats them, covers her face on them, basically does everything a tiny human can to ruin my beautiful make up collection. So I made a plan to keep it all safe from her teeny evil hands!

So here we have my humble collection, saved from the beast (love her really) by basically being too high to reach. All I did was get two cheap wooden shelves from Homebase, paint them and add a piece of wood (L did it…) to one of the shelves with some door handles screwed in for scarf and bag hangage (not a word apparently).

Finally I used my acrylic storage and some cute jars that I had saved (that normally sit cluttering up my cupboard with no purpose) for a cheap and simple make up solution!

What do you think?!

A wishful Christmas wish list

C: you ever see something and think OH GOD IM IN LOVE, and then realise that it’s completely unnecessary so you shouldn’t ask for it for Christmas? But secretly you keep thinking about it and wish it was yours? Here is my secret Christmas wish list (in the hope L decides he wants to buy me a lot of extra presents)

David Ayling is a jewellery making genius! I follow him on Facebook and he creates such beautiful pieces, I’m always slightly jelly that I don’t own anything! This ring is my absolute fav, I showed it to L and he said maybe if he gets a bonus in Feb so fingers crossed!!! (On another note, follow DA on Facebook as he also does jewellery making evenings etc. Which are super exciting!)

We then have the Leonore Doc Martens. These are my fave brand for shoes and I already have two pairs (which never wear out so will last forever!) so I don’t NEED these… but I sure as hell would like them! Plus.. fleece lined? Who doesn’t need new winter warm boots?

Thirdly (not a word) we have the Violet Voss Ride or Die palette which is available from beauty bay. I did consider putting this on my list cos you know… just look at it. But I have so many unloved palettes waiting for my attention it seemed silly to get another! Sad face.

Finally we have a Mac Christmas collection of 12 mini lipsticks. Now really, no one needs 12 mini lipsticks but surely everyone wants them? I asked L for these too, and I won’t say what he described them as on here but I’m guessing it’s a no! Alas. I do love miniature things!

So guys, anything you are secretly wishing for for Christmas that is totally unnecessary but super beautiful?! Let me know! Xxx

Ps… obviously I don’t own any of these delights so photos are borrowed from their websites! Any problems and I will remove them for you 🙂

A No7 Christmas Count Down – Day 5!

C: hallo and welcome to the 5th December which is my lovely mummy’s birthday! The 5th is always the marker that it’s almost Christmas to me, mothers bday then Christmas and all! And to celebrate I once again opened my no7 advent calendar at 6.30am cos my cutie baba owl decided 6am is an acceptable weekend wake up time (she’s wrong).

Apologies for the poo photo, said early owl is asleep on me and I can’t move! But…. Finally some make up (primer is essential but not fun so it doesn’t count)! This is a 4ml Shine & Tint in Posy. I am not sure if this is full sized? Which I could look at on their website but that takes effort so soz, not gonna.

Basically this is “a lightweight glossy gel for shiny colour with a lasting tint and soft comfortable lips”. Sounds promising, and this is also a nice neutral colour so should suit most skin tones… Although I would have liked something a little more festive. But I suppose this way you are more likely to suit more people, which is clever but less fun.

Have any of you guys tried these shine & tints? I can’t wait to try it out and review it for you guys! Looks like lots of no7 reviews are coming your way! #twolittleowls

Review: Rimmel Lasting Finish by Kate Moss Lipstick in 45

C: Annie treated me to this amazing lipstick for my birthday as I had been admiring it in Boots for a while but decided I had way too many lipsticks to invest in another. Obviously Annie knew this was not true, I clearly needed more and this was the perfect addition to my ever expanding collection!

IMG_0239

First of all (although Annie disagrees) I absolutely love the packaging of the new nudes collection! This photo actually makes it look a bit pinker than it is in real life, but it is beautiful! I think its sophisticated and looks way more high end than a Rimmel lipstick.

IMG_0240

I had picked out shade 45 as apparently this is the best shade for my hair colour/skin-tone (there was a handy shade guide in Boots) and also because this is the sort of nude colour that I think suits me best in a lipstick! Just look how pretty it is!

IMG_0295

Cheeky little swatch for you there – Im afraid my face won’t be featuring on the blog any more until this pesky preggo bloat has disappeared. So possibly never again actually, so this swatch will have to do guys! But just look at the colour! This is with just one swipe, so you can actually build up the colour with a second layer if you want it to be more pigmented.

The formula is also super creamy and feels comfortable enough on your lips for every day wear – something you definitely need from a nude lipstick. However, the quality is the same we have come to expect from Kate Moss’ lipsticks and the lasting power is pretty good too! So for the bargain price of just £5.49 (available here) you just can’t go wrong with this little bargain – it is definitely one I shall be getting a lot of use out of.

Have any of you guys invested in Kates new nude lipstick range? If so do you recommend any other shades? Let me know! #twolittleowls

Project Pan: Rimmel Lasting Finish in Birthday Suit

A: Chloe and I have decided to give Project Pan a go this Summer (click here to see our full post), and I’ve been loving using one of my lipsticks featured so I thought I’d share this look with you.

This is the Rimmel Lasting Finish Lipstick in Birthday Suit, a beautiful nude with a gold shimmer.

I did my usual base with Model Co BB cream, Rimmel Clear Complexion Powder and I then added a gold shimmer eyeshadow from my Bellapierre Get The Look kit (review coming soon!), and my go to winged liner and mascara.

I really think this lipstick works well with a subtle eye for an everyday look, but I’m also super excited to team it with a smokey eye for an evening look too! The texture is lovely and creamy, and keeps my lips hydrated all day. It’s not really long lasting, but a nude is easy to apply throughout the day so I don’t mind too much!

What do you think to this look? #twolittleowls

The Make-Up Clear Out!

C: now I have moved house and have started my maternity leave I decided it was time for the dreaded make up clear out. I am an epic hoarder and absolutely hate throwing away things that aren’t completely used up, I also used to take all my older make up in my work bag so I didn’t risk breaking or loosing something precious (broken UD palettes sound like a tragedy to anyone else?!). Now I have finished work I have absolutely no reason to keep some of these products that generally went un-used anyway, so here we have my make up clear out!

FullSizeRender-5

Aww look at all the sad, battered and bruised make up! As you can see most of these products are super old but previously very loved! So what exactly have I decided to throw out?

IMG_0077

Natural Collection Eye Case – I got this for Christmas when I was about 15 from my Auntie and I was in love with it! Unfortunately, I also dropped it and broke the black colour and used up the dark brown and almost all of the pale neutral shade. I basically kept this for sentimental purposes as it was my first eye shadow palette, as I have never really used the purple and pink shades!

IMG_0080

Avon True Colour Eyeshadows in Deep Forest – another well loved eye shadow product, that I would still be using today if it hadn’t died of old age. The shadows used to be super pigmented and blendable but have gone hard and horrid. I am not moaning, as I bought these at uni so they lasted a good couple of years! I would happily re-purchase these if Avon stocked the colour again (which they don’t, alas).

IMG_0078

17 Colour Compact – pretty sure my Auntie also got me this one Christmas too! Both of the neutral shades are basically finished and I would never use the blue eye shadow even if I do pretend I am adventurous with my make up – thats just too adventurous/13 years old for me to handle! I also never use lip products that come in palettes due to the obvious eyeshadow powdery/stickiness that you can witness here!

IMG_0079

Virgin Vie Lipstick in Sheer Candy – yes you read that right, I am such a hoarder I have still kept a Virgin Vie lipstick that is basically empty and definitely gone off. I haven’t used this in forever but once again another product I was struggling to say goodbye to as I hadn’t quite finished it (I am starting to think I take after my stingy father a little bit too much!).

Ted Baker Purple Eyeliner – there is no shade name on this, and I don’t think I have ever used it to be quite honest. It came in a gift set and I completely forgot about it! It is not very pigmented now, possibly due to old age so its time for the bin I’m afraid.

So there we have my make up clear out! Is anyone else as bad at hoarding products as me?! I don’t know what it is about beauty items, but unless they have ran out I just can’t seem to say goodbye! On the plus side, I am now all ready to set up my dressing table in my new house, so keep an eye out for my beauty storage posts that are coming your way! #twolittleowls

The Perfect Summer Nude

A: this is a lipstick I’ve been loving recently – and I’ve had it a while, Chloe bought it for my birthday last year. But I’ve been finding myself go for this every time I go out at the moment. It’s the Rimmel by Kate Moss in the shade 03.

It really is perfect for this time of year because it’s so easy to wear and apply. It’s have a beautiful sheen which I prefer to a matte in the summer months – and it’s super hydrating which is always a bonus. The shade is so pretty, and can be layered really easily – so you can go for a subtle creamy nude or layer it up for a dark tone. And it’s the perfect day time to night time lipstick, if you’ve been at work but haven’t got time to do another make up look, you can apply this and you’re good to go! It also has amazing lasting qualities which is ideal for those summer days when the last thing you want to be worrying about is touching your make up up!

Have you got any nude lipstick recommendations? #twolittleowls

Review: Bourjois Rouge Edition AQUA Laque in Rose on the Rocks

C: If you saw my recent haul post (Which is here if you missed it) I had wanted to try Bourjois’ liquid lipsticks for AGES and finally picked up the “Aqua” (glossy for normal people I believe) version in Rose on the Rocks. I have been trying it out for a few days now so wanted to give you guys a quick review!

photo 2(36)

Available here for £8.99 or often on offer for 3 for 2, Boots describe this product as follows: “Mirror-like shine, intense colour & 10hr hydration”. So what did I think?

First of all, I absolutely love this rose colour. As soon as I put it on I was like YES! THIS IS AMAZING! And text Annie about it straight away… always a good sign. For me this is the perfect my lips but better colour, and one of the reasons I often pick up a rose/pinky colour when trying a new lipstick or brand. However… I wouldn’t agree that it is an intense colour, not for this shade anyway. As you can see in the swatch below this is more of a wash of colour in a gloss. I have seen swatches of other colours, such as the reds etc that really are intensely pigmented, and although this isn’t it doesn’t make me like it any less.

photo 3(21)

As for shine… it really is a lovely gloss effect without the horrid stickiness that you get with most lipglosses. It feels very moisturising and comfortable on the lips and does help keep lips hydrated – so those claims really are true! However, it doesn’t last for very long! After about an hour it has just disappeared! It leaves a slight stain behind but all glossiness is gone and it needs reapplying, especially if you eat or drink anything. The plus side to this is that you don’t need a mirror to reapply and it smells like sweets, so I quite enjoyed the process really!

So all in all, a beautiful if slightly less pigmented than claimed moisturising lip product! I personally still love it even with its slight flaws as it makes my make up look more natural. Has anyone else tried these? If so are the other colours similar in pigmentation/longevity?! #twolittleowls
