November’s empties

C: I have missed doing these posts so much! I love a good empties pile, makes me feel super productive especially just before Christmas! Alas, this empties is slightly lacking on the productive front… I have so many products that are super close to the end but just not quite there yet, so hopefully Decembers empties will be slightly more impressive!

Soap & glorys hand food. An essential in my house, especially due to having eczema and doing lots of washing up (children make so much mess) so my hands are always dry and sore if I’m not regularly using a hand cream. I love this one from soap & glory, it smells amazing and is super moisturising. Only downside is it takes a while to sink in so this tends to be one I keep by my bed to use over night!

Repurchase? Yes!

Mitchum deodorant… wouldn’t normally include this in an empties post. Deodorant isn’t usually exciting, but for me this is! Normally I react to most deodorants or after a while I hate the smell of them? I have been using this (not this exact one) one for several years now and it’s literally the best.

Repurchase? If you like smelling nice and not being a sweatybetty this is a life essential. So yes.

Batiste dry shampoo for dark hair. I hate batiste a bit? Like others are so much better but it’s so easy to get hold of that I just end up panic buying it whenever I go shopping. The brown one is much better though and I actually get on with it much better than the uncoloured ones that take six years to remove the grey spray from my hair!

Repurchase? Probs yes, although I’m going to try super hard to remember to try something else next time!

Body shop mango shower gel- now are you not impressed that I have finished up that massive shower gel?! L helped… but still. I love body shop shower gels and there is always at least one in my shower on the go, however I wasn’t that keen on this scent, it was too sweet and sickly got me!

Repurchase? Yes but not this flavour!

Finally we have Dr lipps nipple butter which is actually a mini lip balm! I bloody love this stuff, it’s super thick and moisturising without being sticky (literally looks like you have shiny lip gloss on) and keeps your lips in perfect condition ready for red lipstick season! It doesn’t dry your lips out even more so you have to keep reapplying for the rest of your life (Vaseline I’m looking at you) so it’s taken me about 4 months just to use up this tiny sample!

Repurchase? I would if I didn’t already have a full size ready to go!

So there we have my mini empties post! Hopefully my December empties will be more impressive and include some of the items I’m hoping to finish up before Christmas! Send me a link to your empties too, I love reading them!

February’s Empties

C: apologies for this being slightly late/the lack of posts… Our internet hasn’t been working which super sucks (mainly for the lack of Netflix or cat videos). This month hasn’t been particularly successful on the empties front, with only 7 items being finished! It’s one of those months where loads of things are running out but aren’t quite finished so hopefully next month will be a winner!

Original Source Vanilla & Raspberry Showergel – I get one of these every year in my Christmas stocking from the mother2 and I love it! It smells amazing and lathers up super well.

Repurchase? I would do if I use up my shower stash before next Christmas!

The Body Shop Ginger Anti-Dandruff Shampoo – I started using this when I had hormonal scalp issuess when preggo and I love it. I don’t have any scalp problems now but when I stopped using it I realised other products were making my scalp sore so I went back to this. It’s truly amazing.

Repurchase? Already have.

The Body Shop Satsuma Body Polish – both L and I always use this. It’s perfect at keeping skin smooth and smells nice!

Repurchase? Yes.

Rimmel 60 Secs Nail Polish in 310 Red Carpet – yeah that’s right… I actually used up a nail polish! Pretty pleased with myself about this one as my nail stash is getting pretty out of control and I always get bored of colours after a couple of uses! This was the standard quality you expect from Rimmel, a 3 day manicure that was easy to achieve.

Repurchase? Would happily buy Rimmel polishes again if my stash ever diminishes.

Loreal Revitalist Multiactive Daily Moisturiser- another product im impressed I used up! I have been trying to use up the many moisturisers I have received in beauty boxes and this was first to go. It’s too thick for every day use but at night it did a great job of keeping my skin moisturised. No idea if it helps with anti aging cos I like to think I’m not old yet.

Repurchase? It isn’t the sort of product I need so no.

Molton Brown Rhubarb and Rose Hand Cream- I loved this! It smells amazing and did a great job of keeping my hands from getting dry!

Repurchase? Yes if I ever use up the hand creams I have stashed away.

English Laundry perfume- I received this in a birchbox and I love it so had been using it on special occasions only. It smells so sweet but sophisticated!

Repurchase? I would if I’m ever richbut I think it’s too much for me to spend on a perfume! I might ask for it for Christmas or something though!

So there we have my slightly disappointing but mainly positive empties! Let me know if you agree with my mini reviews! #twolittleowls

December 2015’s Empties Part One : Facial Skincare and Make-Up!

C: so this month in a bid to use up lots of half used products in prep for my Christmas clear out I have used up a whopping 24 products! Because I have used so many I have split this post into two, so my body skincare, shower gels and hair care products will be discussed in my next post so I don’t bore you all too much with a super mega long post!

Facial Skincare

IMG_0914

The Body Shop Vitamin E Hydrating Toner – I actually stole this from Annie as I wanted to try it and she wasn’t in love, so cheers Annie, I have now used it up if you were hoping for it back… long story short, I didn’t love this. It didn’t irritate my skin, it removed any last traces of make up… but it was just a bit sticky? Which I find weird for a toner and didn’t make my skin feel especially clean or nice.

Repurchase? No.

Lush Tea Tree Water – this is currently my HG toner. It doesn’t irritate my sensitive skin but is powerful enough to actually make a difference on my spots and blemishes.

Repurchase? Hella yeah

Clinique Clarifying Lotion – this is one of those products that has been basically empty for about a year I swear but never ended. I only use this about twice a week, when I feel like my skin needs a deep clean or I have been wearing a lot of make up and want to make sure it has been removed properly. If I use this more often its just too strong for my sensitive skin and causes redness/itching. But I love it for those days when I have had cray cray make up (Im thinking of you, Halloween!).

Repurchase? Yes.

Soap & Glory Fab Pore Mask – it wouldnt be one of my empty posts if it didn’t feature some S&G products would it? I enjoyed using this (don’t leave it on too long else you will have a sad face) and it made my skin feel super clean. It also lasts ages considering its quite a small pot as you really don’t need much. As for pore minimising? I didn’t notice much, but realistically I don’t think any products achieve the ever searched for pore minimising-ness. Yep, thats deffo a word.

Repurchase? If I hadn’t already got about 6 other face masks to use up then yes.

First Aid Beauty Face Cleanser – I reviewed this here, so check out my review if you are interested in trying this.

Repurchase? Yes, its perfect for sensitive skin

Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturising Gel – another product we have previously reviewed.

Repurchase? If I hadn’t asked Santa for it then yes!

Make-Up

IMG_0916

Mac Matchmaster Foundation – this foundation is AMAZING. I love it, and its the perfect foundation if you are super pale like me as they have load’s of shades to match you too! This also lasted me a year!

Repurchase? Yes!

Benefit They’re Real Mascara – another product I have previously reviewed, but this bad boy is my HG mascara! I love it! Perfect for thick, long lashes that last all day!

Repurchase? Yes!

No7 Gold Glitter Top Coat – this has alas died of old age *insert sad face. I have had this about two years though so I really can’t complain! Due to all the glitter sinking to the bottom I seem to have used up all the nail varnish without the glitter… bad times! Love it though!

Repurchase? I already have another!

Korres Eyeliner – this used to be my go-to eyeliner. It is super soft and pigmented so I used this to create a feline flick on my upper lashes when I was too lazy to use liquid eyeliner! It also lasts all day without smudging (although it smudges a little if using on your lower lash line)

Repurchase? I would if I didn’t have a large amount of eye liners to use up!

So there we have the first part of my December empties! Hope you enjoyed it! Let me know if you have tried any of these products and agree with my mini reviews! #twolittleowls

Chloe’s October Empties!

C: Another month… another very successful empties box! I hadn’t really paid attention to what I was using up this month so I was pleasantly surprised to see that I had used up nine things – thats pretty impressive work for me, especially when I wasn’t specifically trying to use stuff up! So here is this months empties:

IMG_0181

Lacura Face Care Aqua-complete Multi Intensive Serum – Annie actually reviewed this very accurately here, so I wont go into too much detail but I really liked this. I did remove the label though so it would look prettier on my dresser… but it is a great serum, especially for the price!

Repurchase? Definitely! This is such a bargain!

The Body Shop Pink Grapefruit Shower gel – this had been sat in my stash since Christmas as I hate eating grapefruit, and grapefruit washing up liquid makes me vom so I assumed I would hate this! Due to laziness, as this was the first shower gel I came too whilst having a rummage I finally used it and loved it! The scent is delicate and beautiful, and it lathers up nicely so a little goes a long way! This tiny bottle lasted me over two weeks – another reason why I love the Body Shop!

Repurchase? Surprisingly yes!

Sarah McNamara Miracle Skin Transformer Hyrdoactive Microderm – another Birchbox sample here I believe! I liked the scrubbiness of this, it was nicely exfoliating without being too harsh but I wasn’t keen on the formula on the cream. It just sat on top of my skin and didn’t sink in at all, meaning when I used a micellar water afterwards there was still loads of make up there.

Repurchase? Nope.

Soap & Glory The Righteous Butter – Im pretty sure one of these turns up in my empties posts about every other month! I bloody love this stuff! It smells amazing and is super moisturising, it is definitely one of my favourite products ever!

Repurchase? I still have two more in my stash, but when I run out I definitely will.

Tresemme Salon Sleek Glossing Spray – I loved this! It helped tame fly aways, reduced frizz and added a nice shine to my hair without making it look greasy.

Repurchase? I would do but I haven’t been able to find it anywhere! If I do then yes!

IMG_0182

My Burberry Perfume – another sample Annies mum gave me (I promise I will find time to unpack my perfume collection at some point and stop just using samples)! I really like this, and its way more sophisticated than most perfumes I wear so I ended up using it up pretty quickly! It also lasts all day and I received lots of compliments when wearing it!

Repurchase? I think I actually would you know, and I never buy perfumes!

Benefit They’re Real Mascara – my favourite mascara that I reviewed here!

Repurchase? I still have a full sized version on the go, but I will be doing, yes.

Anna Sui Secret Wish perfume – I won’t go on about this, as it just wasn’t the right scent for me. It lasted all day and I am sure it would be lovely on someone else but I just didn’t love it! I also promise I am running out of perfume samples to use up so I will stop boring you with them soon!

Repurchase? Nope.

Black Eyeliner from The Body Shop – I have no idea which Body Shop eyeliner this was, as it lasted so long all the writing rubbed off/I have sharpened it too often! I loved this, but it was finally time to say goodbye to an old faithful friend and admit it was time to retire. It lasted all day and had great colour pay off so it was a winner in my eyes!

Repurchase? I would happily re-buy an eyeliner from The Body Shop, I shall be having a look when I next pop in!

So there we have it, a mixed batch for Octobers empties! Have you guys tried any of these products? If so did you agree with my mini reviews? #twolittleowls

Review: The Body Shop Blue Corn 3 in 1 Deep Cleansing Scrub Mask

C: if you saw our recent body shop hauls (which are here and here if you missed them!), then you will be well aware that a review of this bad boy was a comin’! I love a good face mask, and thought that I would make the most of having time to do one every now and again whilst on maternity leave before baba arrives! The lady in the shop recommended this one, and whilst having a perusal/doing some research on their website it appears that this blue corn mask is a best seller – and for good reason!

IMG_0120

The Body Shop claims that this three-in-one cleansing mask cleanses, exfoliates and moisturises normal to oily skin and is suitable as a weekly treatment. So did I agree with these claims? Basically… yes! I applied this before going for a bath and removed after about 10 minutes. My skin immediately felt very refreshed and clean without feeling tight and uncomfortable- always a plus after a face mask, especially when you have as sensitive skin as mine!

The next day my skin was less oily, but I had two new spots come up… not ideal but you know. The next day these blemishes had already disappeared! Like magic! So I am guessing this mask did an excellent job of clearing out some blocked pores – although I wouldn’t recommend using this for the first time before an event etc. I then left it a week before using it again, and although the benefits were still there – clean, exfoliated skin I personally find that using it twice a week is more effective at maintaining unblocked pores, otherwise you have the blemish situation every week (well I did anyway!).

The only claim I slightly disagree with is that it moisturises. I personally still needed to apply my moisturiser as usual after trying this, so although it didn’t strip my skin of moisture like most masks for oily skin do I wouldn’t say it added any moisture either.

The lady in the shop also recommended applying this with an old make up brush, meaning the product goes further and really sinks into your pores. I loved this recommendation, and I am really annoyed I didn’t think of it before as it saves so much product/mess and is way more hygienic than shoving your fingers in the pot each application! It also means this pot is going to last me absolutely ages, which when it was only £11 to begin with (cheap when you think you will get more than 11 applications per pot!) is amazing!

Have any of you guys tried this? If not I really would recommend trying it! It is one of the best masks I have tried in ages (and the colour of the pot goes so nicely with my bathroom!) #twolittleowls

Chloes September Empties

C: HAPPY DUE DATE MONTH TO MEEEE! And anyway… moving quickly on (hopefully I will have a nice gory detail labour post on its way to you soon), welcome to Septembers empties! Since moving house I have had a chance to look through my stash and select the half used products I wanted rid of. Not because I didn’t like them, but because they were already opened and needed using up. So this month I have exceeded my usual 5-6 monthly empties and have used up a whole 10 products! Because there are more than usual, I have split the photos up a bit to make my mini empty reviews easier to follow! So here we go:

Stretch Mark/Baby Related Stuff

IMG_0112

Palmers Massage Lotion for Stretch Marks – this is the lotion I have enjoyed using the most, mainly because despite having a slight clinical use it actually still smells nice. Even though pregnancy sucks and all dignity is out the window, I still like being able to pamper myself and use products that seem at least slightly normal. This also keeps skin soft and supple so it can stretch without being itchy and horrid.

Repurchase? I already have!

Bio Oil – the jury is still out on this one, I think it has stopped my stretch marks from looking as red etc (they look like old ones rather than new ones really), but I don’t know how much it has prevented them so I maybe should just save this to use after labour!

Repurchase? Yep!

Derma Mum Superior Moisturising Cream – I reviewed this here so won’t bore you all with another review!

Repurchase? Not now as it’s such a large tub.

Montagne Jeunesse Face Masks

IMG_0114

Blemish Mud – I absolutely loved this, and reviewed this in full here if you fancy a goosey

Repurchase? Hella yeah!

Passion Peel Off – this made my skin feel super soft and moisturised and did do a good job of calming my skin down, but the peely-ness just isn’t for me. It felt horrid to peel off and freaked me out/made my teeth itch. I know thats weird… but no thanks. Not for me.

Repurchase? Not a peel one no!

Hair Care

IMG_0115

Batiste Dry Shampoo – not my fave dry shampoo but gets the job done – albeit with a slight white haze that needs lots of brushing through!

Repurchase? I always seem too! Although I have another bottle in my stash waiting to be used before I buy anymore!

Loreal Elvive Nutri-Gloss Shampoo sachet – I got this free in a magazine and thought it was about time I used it up rather than stashing it for some unknown occasion! I liked the smell of this, and it certainly made my hair soft and shiny but obviously its hard to tell how amazing a shampoo is from one go!

Repurchase? I would quite happily use this again.

Body Wash/Perfume

IMG_0116

The Body Shop Satsuma Body Polish – I recently re-bought the full sized version of this in my Body Shop Haul post here, so you can tell I liked it!

Repurchase? Already have!

Soap & Glory The Scrub of Your Life – this is one of my absolute favourite S&G body products. It has the standard S&G scent, but is super exfoliating at the same time. However, it is also really gentle and can be used daily, as it doesn’t even upset my super sensitive skin. Winner!

Repurchase? I have a full sized version of this in my stash waiting for me, but after thats used up I will definitely be buying another!

Calvin Klein Euphoria Blossom Perfume – yes you have read that right… I have actually given in and finished up a perfume! Normally I leave the last few pumps for special occasions as I have perfume separation anxiety, but I went all out and used this up! I bloody love this, its floral but not too old-lady-esque and the scent lasts all day.

Repurchase? this shall be on my Christmas list for Santa!

And there we have this months empties! Hope you like my mini reviews! #twolittleowls

Review: The Body Shop Ginger Anti-Dandruff Shampoo

C: one of the lovely side effects of being pregnant has been a delightfully flaky scalp – something to do with the same hormones that ruin your skin and nails apparently. Lovely. Obviously, as I am pregnant I didn’t want to be shoving loads of chemicals and nastiness on my scalp to sort the problem, but also didn’t want my scalp to keep falling off so I did a little research and found this beauty.

IMG_0117

The Ginger Anti Dandruff Shampoo is £4.50 for 250ml or £6.40 for 400ml from The Body Shop, so not too expensive really, only a little more than your average drugstore shampoo. Now the hundreds of positive reviews on the Body Shop website speak for themselves, but I thought I would share my experience with you guys too. Basically… this stuff is amazing.

After one wash my scalp was no longer itchy/irritated and there was hardly any flakiness left. By the second use literally all evidence that my scalp had ever decided to fall off was gone. Literally, gone. Now I haven’t ever had this issue before, so I haven’t tried any other anti-dandruff shampoos to compare it too but with results like that I won’t be bothering to try any!

Also if you are worried about the scent, I am preggo with super human smelling powers and don’t like ginger… but it is fine to use. The scent isn’t over powering in any way and I actually enjoy using it. There doesn’t seem to be a matching conditioner, so by the time you have used your normal one there is no over powering ginger scent lingering about!

So basically, if you have any scalp issues you NEED  to try this! I have literally been recommending it to everyone! Has anyone else tried this? What did you think? #twolittleowls
