Baby Diaries: The SassyBloom Subscription Box Review.

C: whilst having a little mooch about on twitter (you know, as ladies on maternity leave do), I came across the SassyBloom Subscription box and was very intrigued. My baby could have post already? I liked that idea a lot! Basically the idea is you let them know your due date/babies date of birth and they send you a monthly subscription based on their age/products that are suitable for them and you. Meaning as there are so many different items available nowadays, you can try out a selection for £30 a month and see what works for you and your baby without having to spend loads and loads of money. I really liked the idea behind it so decided to sign up and get a pre-baby box to see what all the hype was about. Here is what I received:

FullSizeRender-6

First up the box is beautifully packaged, which makes you feel very excited for all the baby things inside – its nice to get a treat every now and again isn’t it!? SassyBloom also email you a couple of days before your box arrives to let you know it has been dispatched, and I think I received mine within four days of signing up!

IMG_0124

Beaba Scissors RRP £3.99 – I haven’t seen this brand before to be honest, which makes an interesting addition to the box as its nice to learn about new brands! Baby scissors are also one of those items I can imagine many people forget about buying before baby arrives so its useful to include them in the pre-baby box!

My Buggy Buddy Clip RRP £6 – I was pleased to receive this as I can see it coming in handy! I haven’t even had my baby yet and I already struggle when practicing with my pram! This will help keep any well loved toys etc safe and sound, and is totally something I would never have thought of buying!

Keel Toys Belle Rose Bear Soft Toy RRP £10 – I think this was my favourite item in the box, it is so soft and super cute! Obviously I assume they would send a slightly manlier bear if you thought you were having a boy, but this is already taking pride of place in our little ones cot ready for her arrival!

Shea Mooti Mama’s Everything Body Balm RRP £16.99 – a good idea for any pre-baby box is some stretch mark cream! I was pleased to see this in the box, however it is quite a strange texture and once again from a brand I have never heard of! I shall be reviewing this for you all soon so I won’t ruin it too much!

Rock A Bye Baby Blanket RRP £15? – this is super soft and lovely, but for some reason isn’t included on my SassyBloom account for review, so I am not sure if I should have received it! I can’t find an online stockist, but these were on amazon for about £15 so I have guessed the RRP! This is a lovely addition to the box as there is no such thing as too many blankets when you have a new born baby!

Therefore giving this box an approximate value of over £50! Super good value for money when the box itself costs £30 including postage! There is also a points system where giving feedback/sharing your experiences/referring a friend earns you points, which in turn earns you a free box! I have paused my subscription for now (I still have 8 weeks to go till my due date) so my next box can be a review of the products received when baby has arrived, but I think this is an amazing idea as a present for a mum to be you know, or even as a little treat to yourself!

If you fancy signing up please use my referral link here, as you will get £10 off your first box! Let me know what you think of this/if you decide to sign up! #twolittleowls

January Pink Parcel

A: So it’s that time of month again, and my Pink Parcel arrived this week as a little reminder. This is now the third parcel that I’ve had, and you can see our other reviews by clicking here.

2015/01/img_5191.jpgPink Parcel is a monthly subscription box which allows you to choose your type of sanitary product to take care of those pesky periods, but also comes with a few treats to make your week a bit more pleasant! Every month, you get a bag with products ‘for now’, a box with products ‘for bedtime’, another box of products ‘for later’ and a finally a box ‘for you’. The ‘for now’ bag is designed to pop into your handbag, and the rest are self explanatory. You can choose either tampons or towels, whichever suits you. In total, I have received 20 daytime towels and 5 nighttime towels – more than enough for what I need.
The ‘for you’ box is the fun part. Pink Parcel put together a selection of goodies for you each month, and this month is a good one!

2015/01/img_5193.jpg

2015/01/img_5194.jpg
I received 7 products ‘extra’ this month, which is amazing! Firstly, some Balance Activ pH Balanced Feminine Wipes. I haven’t used a product like this before because I haven’t felt a need to, but I’m sure I’ll give these a go at some point. They don’t really smell of anything but I guess they’d be good for camping etc?
I also received an Earl Grey Tea and Cucumber Scent Melt from Flamingo Candles – a wax melt which is super strongly scented. I wouldn’t say that it smells of cucumber or tea to be honest, it just smells super clean and fresh. I really like products like this so I’m looking forward to using it!
Lastly in the ‘lifestyle’ bunch is a caramel milk chocolate bar from Divine Chocolate. Enough said really, I’m obviously going to throughly enjoy this!
The beauty products in this months Pink Parcel are my favourite part! A Richard Ward Silk Protein Hair Treatment which smells beautiful. I will use this on the ends of my hair mainly, and it’s not a brand I’ve heard of before so I’m looking forward to giving it a go.
Maxfactor False Lash Effect Mascara, something I’ve heard a lot about and a new mascara is always a winner for me. And finally, a Binky London Smooth Coverage Lipstick in Romance. Another brand I haven’t had the chance to try yet but I will be giving this a go as soon as I can, and it is a beautiful shade of red – something a girl always needs in her lipstick collection.

Pink Parcel has a monthly subscription fee of £9.95, but your first month costs just £5.95. This is such a good price for the products that you get, and it makes the usual chore of buying boring sanitary towels or tampons a little more exciting! Plus they know when to send your box out each month as you fill in the dates of your last period before you order, and can make any changes necessary as the months go by. They also offer Teen Parcel now, a great way to introduce teenage girls to periods.
Have you tried Pink Parcel? #twolittleowlsblog

November Pink Parcel

A: So you usually get Chloe’s reviews of her monthly Pink Parcel’s, but this time it’s my turn! For those of you that don’t know (where have you been?!), Pink Parcel is a lovely little subscription box which sends you all of the things you need for your monthly lady time. They have recently introduced pads too, which is the reason that I have now subscribed as tampons aren’t my favourite. It makes life so much easier, you don’t have to worry about if you’ve got enough supplies for the month, and they deliver it just in time for your cycle. Plus, the boxes are super discreet so not even the postman will know what it is.

Your first box costs just £5.95, and after that the monthly cost is £9.95. So what do you get for money?

So because I opted for pads (you can choose your specific brand/style too), I got a selection of pads ‘for now’, to pop in my handbag, then another box titled ‘for later’ which contains the rest of the pads I will need for the month and an extra box titles ‘for bedtime’. I wasn’t expecting the bedtime box, but it has pads in it which are of a more absorbent style which are perfect for night time. Lastly, the fun box – ‘for you’.

photo 3 (1)

In this box are all the goodies to help make you feel a little better when you most need it. This month, I received two sets of lashes (perfect for the upcoming Christmas parties!), a Doisy & Dam Orange and Goji chocolate bar (super yummy!), Roc Multi Correction serum, Gluco Tabs in Juicy Raspberry flavour (I’m giving these to Chloe because she is hypoglycaemic and these are perfect for her low sugar emergencies!), Elizabeth Arden 8 Hour cream and lastly a Tea Pigs Green Tea to help settle those tummy pains.

I think the selection of products in these boxes is amazing – and I am super excited to use the Elizabeth Arden 8 hour cream because it is such a highly reviewed product that I haven’t had chance to use yet – expect a twolittleowls review of this v. soon!

I am so happy with this subscription box, I’ve recently cancelled all of my other boxes because they just weren’t doing it for me. I think I will stick with this one for a while though 🙂

And just in case you didn’t know already, we are actually hosting a giveaway on behalf of Teen Parcel and Pink Parcel where you can win a subscription worth £55 – just click here for all the info (you deffo should because the prize really is amazing!). Foodie Friday: Hello Fresh’s Mexican “Dirty Rice” with Chicken and Chorizo

C: We posted last week about our Hello Fresh boxes that we recently received (you can see the post here) and I have been testing out some of the amazing recipes they sent me!

Here’s the first recipe:

20141017-095118.jpg

And here is my attempt!

20141017-095200.jpg

As you can see I did a pretty good job! The recipe card was super easy to follow, meaning I got a professional looking meal that was easy and quick to make. It was super tasty, I’m not normally a big fan of rice so I wasn’t sure I would enjoy this.

The herbs and spices provided made this so yummy that the boyfriend ate 3 bowls full – a clear sign that tea was a success! I really enjoyed making (and eating) this, so the recipe card has been kept so I can do it again!

I loved my first Hello Fresh experience as it means you can try something you wouldn’t normally make, and although a little pricey you get to keep the recipes to do again! Perfect! Click here to head to the Hello Fresh website – they update their recipes weekly so there’s always something new to try!

You Beauty Discovery Box October Edition

A: This is a beauty box that I find myself unable to unsubscribe from. I’ve had it for the last two months now (you can see September’s here), and you get between four and five products each month, two of which you choose from a selection which the team at You Beauty have put together. The price of the box is £6.95 – including postage! So here is what I got this month, the first two items being the ‘extras’, the second two being my choices.

photo 1

Gold Collagen Forte

“GOLD COLLAGEN® Forte is a new anti-ageing liquid beauty supplement; it contains a unique, potent blend of antioxidants (Q10, acai berry, pomegranate, lycopene, L-Carnosine and resveratrol) to reduce the oxidative stress associated with ageing in your 40’s.”

Okay this is weird. I actually opened this and smelt it before I read what it was, and I assumed it was a lotion because of it’s super sweet scent. Then I read that you drink it. WHAT?! This is a daily supplement, and it is recommended that you drink one bottle a day to support healthy looking skin, hair and nails. It’s also supposed to hydrate your skin, reduce the appearance of wrinkles and protect against oxidative damage (whatever that is). The flavour is Peach and Lychee, and I love anything that smells or tastes of peach but this really smells awful to me. The sweet, almost clinical smell makes me gag. There is no way I can imagine drinking this, and the retail price is £40 for a ten-day package. Not particularly cheap, but if it does what it says on the tin it’s probably worth it. It is aimed at the 40+ age group. Not quite there yet. Sorry You Beauty, this is not for me.

Cowshed Perfecting Night Serum

“Cowshed Anti-Ageing Perfecting Night Serum is the ultimate all-in-one anti-ageing treatment for busy women with busy lives. The innovative serum-in-oil hybrid is bursting with natural active ingredients and essential oils that work wonders on your skin while you sleep, so that you can wake up to a firmer, brighter and smoother complexion. They don’t call it beauty sleep for nothing!”

This is a product I am much happier with. I’ve seen a lot of Cowshed products about and have been wanting to try them out for a while. I am at the age (argh) where I should start to use anti-ageing products, so hopefully this will encourage me. Prevention is better than cure, as they say. It contains natural ingredients, such as Rosehip oil and Evening Primrose oil for cell regeneration and Jojoba oil with skin-soothing minerals such as zinc and vitamins B and E. Plus the brand was founded in an actual cowshed. Amazing. It does come in a little pricey though, at £48, but You Beauty are offering a code to receive a Skin Care Starter Kit with every purchase from the Cowshed website (click here). I received a sample size version of this, and although it is a little small I will be letting you know what I think.

Illamasqua Glamore Lipstick in Tease

“Illamasque Glamore Lipsticks are colour intense lipsticks with a long lasting satin finish. They offer ultimate comfort and smooth application without compromising on colour. Long lasting with intense pigment payoff, these lipsticks ooze both glamour and sophistication.”

photo 2

I was SO excited when I saw these lipsticks were available and headed online as soon as I could to add this to my box! I’ve never had a product from this company before, but I was expecting good things. The packaging really is lovely, super sophisticated and posh (plus it makes a lovely clicking sound when you put the lid on, does anyone else get an insane amount of satisfaction from that?!). But I am disappointed with the colour. Don’t get me wrong, I love a nude lipstick – most of my collection is made up of nudes but because of it’s amazing colour pigmentation, this applies like a concealer. It’s really strange! I’m hoping I can make it work for me though because the consistency is perfect, it applies beautifully – so keep you eyes out for a make-up look including this! This retails at £18.50 – so more than double the price I paid for my whole box.

Wild About Beauty Power Eyeshadow in Alana

“These eyeshadows are enriched with skin conditioning Aloe Vera & Vitamins E & C, available in an array of wearable shades, ideal for creating a multitude of looks. Apply to eyelids with an eyeshadow brush. If you’re looking for a Wild About Beauty brush, the brand recommends the Tapered Eyesahdow Brush.”

photo 1

I received a Wild About Beauty lipstick in last month’s box and loved it, so when I saw this I know I had to go for it. Now, I’m not a massive eyeshadow fan. I just can’t get it to look right on me, but I do like to use it as an eyeliner. This colour however is so lovely that I am going to try and branch out and wear it in a smokey eye look (wish me luck!!). It really is highly pigmented, and the little bee is so super cute. I find it really handy that it has a little mirror too! These retail at £13.

Although I was a little disappointed with some of the products in this month’s box, I am going to try and make them work for me (not the Collagen stuff though…). I will persevere with the lipstick and the eyeshadow, and try to do a make-up look using them both, so keep following! The total value of this box is approximately £36 – a real bargain considering I paid just £6.95. If I’ve tempted you, you can head to the You Beauty Discovery Website by clicking here.

October’s Pink Parcel

C: okay okay I know I said last month I didn’t need another Pink parcel…  but that doesn’t mean I didn’t want one?! I have had such a lovely experience with Pink Parcel, they are always on time, they always send you a nice email to let you know your box is on its way. They are just lovely. If you would like to see my previous Pink Parcels then click here and here, but lets get on to this months box!

photo 1-9

As usual you get a little bag of 5 tampons that says “for now” to put in your handbag and two boxes “for later” which both contain 10 tampons of your choice. Saving you from going out and buying your monthly essentials as well as containing a box of treats “for you”. This is the exciting part, and here is what I received this month:

photo 2-10

The first thing I noticed was the Loreal Revitalist Multi-active Daily Moisturiser that targets the 10 signs of ageing. This is a full size, 50ml bottle that retails for £15.99 – covering the cost of your box without even including those essentials. Amazing value and a product I am super excited to try out, prevention is better than a cure and all that.

Being a nail varnish collector (hoarder) I then noticed the OPI nail polish in “girl colour”. Not something I would normally go for, but beautiful all the same. It is a very pale glittery pink which I have already tried out as a topcoat over white… it looks amazing! Very Christmassy as it gives the perfect snow effect. Another amazing edition!

Included was also a Kubiss Lip Gloss, a brand I have never heard of before. I do not normally wear lip glosses, just because I prefer lipstick but I like the colour of this so I am looking forward to trying it out. I also received a sample of Yardley’s Uplifting Daisy body lotion which I can’t wait to try as well as the usual tea-pigs tummy tonic and a chocolate bar from Daisy & Dom. If you haven’t tried their chocolate  before then you need to seriously get some – it’s amazing!

So what did you guys think of this months Pink Parcel? I loved it as usual, amazing value for money and their customer service was spot on as usual. We have some exciting news coming your way about Pink Parcels future subscription services, so make sure you follow us so you can keep up to date! Review: September Pink Parcel

C: my second Pink Parcel arrived today, and as my August review went down so well I thought I would write a little review on this months as well (if you would like to see my previous box click here). As mentioned previously this is a subscription based around your time of the month, supplying your period essentials as well as some extra little treats to cheer you up. This costs £9.95 (including postage) for each box, but you can have a trial box for only £5.95. You just update your cycle dates and Pink Parcel will make sure you have everything you need, you even get to pick your tampon brand/type and pads are being made available soon! So anyway… over to the box itself.

photo 1(13)

As I mentioned last month, the packaging is super discreet so any of you that are embarrassed by your time of the month (you shouldn’t be!) can rest easily as no one will be able to tell what the postman has brought. Each box contains a “for now” bag which contains 5 tampons to put into your handbag (I found this very useful last month as I ALWAYS forget, I’m not very good at being a girl), along with two boxes “for later” which both contain 10 more tampons – so 25 in total! Once again these are nice to put in your bathroom cabinet as no one can tell whats in them.

photo 2(13)

On to the fun part – apologies for the bad photo, the tree outside/clouds did not make it easy for me.

Elizabeth Arden, Beautiful Colour Maximum Volume Mascara – Described as being able to dramatically thicken lashes as it separates and defines. It is also claimed as being smudge-proof and lasts all day. I was really excited to get this (I had cheated and looked at a spoiler already!) as it is a mascara I haven’t tried before and a well-loved brand. 10 points to Gryffindor Pink Parcel.

Witch Naturally Clear Anti-Blemish Redness Relief Moisturiser – apparently corrects redness and helps soothe skin. Clinique is my HG moisturiser provider but I am happy to try out others, especially those that apparently will reduce redness! My father-in-law apparently loves Witch products so they must be good!

Garnier 5 Sec Perfect Blur Smoothing Protecting Primer – another welcome addition to my box! I am currently using Benefits Porefessional primer and previously used a Mac one so it is great to try something that is more affordable/pink so will look nice in my make up bag.

As some other little extras I also got a Teapigs, tummy tonic peppermint teabag, perfect to reduce bloating during this troublesome time of month (I’ve got a food baby from eating too much carrot cake earlier, so hopefully this will help!). I also got another bar of Doisy & Dom’s maca, vanilla & cacao organic dark chocolate, and although I received the same bar last month I am pretty happy about it as it is AMAZING!. I’m still not entirely sure maca is, so please do enlighten me if you know! And last, but not least I got a little voucher for a free glass of bubbly at Cafe Rouge when purchasing any main meal – winner!

Overall I am really happy with my Pink Parcel this month! Unfortuately I will have to pause my subscription this month as my bathroom is over run with tampons (any chance we can just get sent the treats?!) but I really do love this subscription. An absolute bargain at £9.95! What do you guys thing? If you fancy signing up/having a peek at the website just click here #twolittleowls
