Spring Nails

C & A: Now that the days are getting sunnier and (slightly) warmer, we’ve decided to show you our favourite Spring Nails as part of Julep’s Spring Nail Art competition (they have beautiful colours, go take a look!).

A: I’ve gone for a daisy and polka dot look using a pastel blue as a base. I started with the usual cleaning, filing and buffing and then after a clear base coat, I added the blue. After this, I used a nail dotting pen wo add the white petals of the daisies on my ring finger and thumb. I then added the polka dots to my middle finger using the same technique.

After these has dried, I added extra coats as necessary as the white doesn’t show up fantastically on the blue. I then added the yellow centres of the daises with the dotting pen and did the usual top coat. I hope you like them! I’m really pleased with them because they look really fresh and spring-like but still subtle enough to wear for work, and the blue matches the colour of my car perfectly so I am totally colour coordinated!

An accidental study day haul!

A & C: So we are both in Lincoln today, studying away in the library like the good little nerds we are. We obviously had to have a break to eat nacho’s for our lunch in the name of nutrition and good mental health, and yet whilst in town we accidentally went shopping. I say accidentally… but everyone deserves a treat for doing lots of work right??

So heres what we got:

C: I got these amazing wedges from Primarni for only £10! I have been looking for some like this for ages as being 5ft11 means I can’t wear massive heels (or I hit my head on things and look like the BFG). I am so excited to wear them and I am going out tomorrow night, so keep your eyes peeled for an OOTD post!

I also got two nail varnishes from modelsown (2 for £8 across the whole modelsown range at Boots!). Both me and the ginger one have had our eye on the speckled egg nail varnishes for a while now but wanted to see the colours in real life instead of ordering them online. I got the “Duck” colour which is a beautiful pastel blue colour and then I got the Grape Juice colour from the scented (yes, scented) scratch and sniff range. I kid you not, scented nail varnish. Despite being a Psychology post grad student all advertising works on me and I had to buy it! I tried to have a smell (you get strange looks if you sniff nail varnish in the library…) and I can’t smell anything so it must be once you have painted your nails! Anyway, I will stop rambling on and actually do some work. I will be doing individual reviews of the items once I have tried them out/I am not stuck in a library.

A: Okay so I actually had some pennies left at the end of the month before payday so I thought I deserved a treat, and we’ve been working super hard today. From Primark, I got this lovely collared dress with a ditsy floral print for £13, and a sparkly jumper which was in the sale for £3! I obviously couldn’t say no to that! I also got some black moccasins, I’ve been looking for some flats for ages that are smart enough to wear for work but fun too, and they were only £8.

Like Chloe, I had to give in to the modelsown offer too, and chose the Magpie green from the speckled egg collection. I also chose the modelsown Lip-stix in nude, I’ve been lusting after one of the crayon type lipsticks for ages and I love this colour.

Chloe’s Spring Wishlist

C: Following Annie’s wish list (you can look at it here) I thought I had better share what I have been lusting after ready for Spring!

20140316-170647.jpg

1. No. 7 Pop and Glow Cream Blush Stick in Rose Blossom (£9.95). I have not used many cream blushers before but they are something I would like to start trying in the summer when I usually wear less make up! An easy and quick application in this beautiful colour would be a welcome addition to my make up bag!

2. Vintage O & O ’90’s Button dress (£45 from Urban Outfitters). I love this sort of dress for the warmer months, strappy dresses don’t suit my bingo wings so this perfect for me! It can also be worn with tights and a cosy cardi for those chilly nights out!

3. Ray Ban Clubmaster Sunglasses (price varies depending on choice!). I love the mock tortoise shell pattern ones and I really need a good pair for the summer. I am just worried as usually I break (sit on) all of my sunglasses so I don’t want to waste my money!

4. Essie Spring Nail Collection (£7.99 at Boots). This bad boy would not be in my wish list if it hadn’t been out of stock! Essie are my favourite nail polishes and these will be perfect to take you through from Spring to Summer!

Annie’s Spring Wishlist

A: I have spent so much time lusting after lovely Spring buys this last week (bring on payday!) that I thought I should share some of my favourites with you.

Image

1. I love the swing dress trend – and I know a strappy dress like this is optimistic for Spring, but hey, I can always layer it up. I love the colours in this one from ASOS. The rose pink hues and floral print are perfect for this time of year, and ASOS are offering 25% off dresses at the minute! Find it here for £26.00.

2. As you’ve probably guessed, I have a big thing for rose gold. I’ve been looking for a pretty watch for ages, but they all seem to have bulky straps – and these just don’t suit me. This one is perfect though, and a steal from River Island for just £28.00.

3. I probably already own about a billion pairs of sunglasses, but you just can’t have too many can you? These are Cheap Moday – the best place to buy them is from Urban Outfitters, the link will take you straight to them if you love them as much as me – and they are only £25.00! A perfect addition to any Spring wardrobe (and they will go perfectly with the ASOS dress!)

4. Sandals are my favourite type of footwear I think, although I do have an age old problem with cankles so I avoid any with an ankle strap. These  Deena and Ozzy Ballerina Flats are perfect to take you from Spring to Summer because they can be worn with or without tights. They are leather too so will last a while, and are another Urban Outfitters find – £38.00.

Chloe will be posting her Spring Wishlist soon so keep following! #twolittleowls
