Chloe’s November Empties 2015

C: another monthly empties post for you guys this month and with a grand total of 13 products used up (most of which are full sized!) this is quite possibly my most successful empties post yet! Clearly having a baby and not being able to go shopping for new things all the time is super useful in using up your stash! I have split the photos up into the types of products I am going to talk about so it is a little easier to follow, so hope you enjoy my mini reviews!

Stretchmark/Baby Related Skincare

IMG_0341

Neals Yard Mothers Massage Oil – I received this in a gift set at my baby shower and was really excited about trying things from a brand I hadn’t really used before but unfortunately this product just wasn’t for me. I don’t like oils! They are too oily… which I know is the point I just personally don’t like them. Plus I managed to drop half of this on the floor as it came out the bottle too quick. It did smell nice though and was nice and moisturising, couldn’t comment on its stretch mark reduction though as this only lasted me about a week.

Repurchase? No.

Shea Mooti Mama’s Everything Body Balm – I received this in my Sassybloom subscription box, but unfortunately this was another product that I didn’t really enjoy using. When you massaged it in it turned to an oil and it smelt horrid. I don’t even know how to describe the smell but for such an expensive product I was pretty disappointed!

Repurchase? No.

Neals Yard Mothers Balm – I did actually quite like this! Although it turned to an oil when warmed up it sunk in nicely and didn’t leave me feeling all sticky and horrid. It was also super moisturising and although I don’t know whether it reduced stretch marks it certainly got rid of that horrid itchy skin you get when your skin is stretching/shrinking!

Repurchase? No, as I no longer need such products but I would consider it again if ever pregnant again.

Skincare

Plush Therapy Mild Dermabrasion Face & Body Scrub – I received this sample in a Birchbox, and although I am suspicious of multi use products I decided to give it a go/use it up out the way. As usual my suspicions were correct and this seemed a pretty pointless product to me! It wasn’t scrubby enough to be in anyway exfoliating for my face, and the pot was too tiny to really test my body with it more than once! It also didn’t really make my skin feel clean or nice or anything…

Repurchase? Nope.

Soap & Glory Peaches and Clean Cleanser – one of my favourite face products that I have reviewed here and features in many of my empties posts!

Repurchase? Yes! Its true love!

B. Pure Micellar Water – I am really proud of myself for finishing this up as I hated it! It stings my eyes/makes them water loads and makes my skin feel all sticky and horrid after using it! This lived in my work bag for emergencies for ages, and then I have finally finished the last little bit up as I ran out of my Garner Micellar water before I could get another!

Repurchase? No!

Body Stuff

IMG_0343

Soap & Glory Butter Yourself Body Cream – dunno if you can tell from this post… but I might just be a massive S&G fan! I received this little beauty for Christmas and have finally got round to using it! It smells amazing and is super moisturising. S&G body butters are my fav moisturisers so I go through them quickly!

Repurchase? If I didn’t already have some more to use up then yes definitely!

Dove Silky Nourishing Body Cream – another moisturiser I got for Christmas and have finally finished up! I wasn’t expecting much from this really, but I actually enjoyed using it. It smelt nice and was a lovely light moisturiser to use daily.

Repurchase? Probably not as I love others more, but I would happily use this again if I received it!

Soap & Glory Heel Genius Foot Cream – another item that I have reviewed here. Made my boyfriend give me lots of foot massages both pre and post baby, mainly because I couldn’t reach my own feet to moisturise them so this came in handy!

Repurchase? I would do, but I have a couple of little versions of this to use up first!

Beauticology Hot Chocolate Shower Creme – once again another Christmas gift! Definitely got enough bath/body stuff to last me all year apparently! I wasn’t keen on this though, the scent got a bit sickly after a while so I couldn’t use it every day, and I didn’t find that that formula lathered up very well either.

Repurchase? No.

Make-Up/Perfume

IMG_0344

Elf High Definition Powder – I bought this ages ago and it has lasted absolutely ages! I loved it when I first got it, but after a while it got a little bit clumpy/I got bored of making a mess every time I opened it. Loose powder isn’t the best product for us clumsy people!

Repurchase? No as Elf don’t deliver to the UK anymore *sad face*

Benefit Stay Don’t Stray Primer – I received this in a Birchbox and it has lasted me about 6 months! I just used a tiny bit when I wanted my eye make up to last that little bit longer, and this does a perfect job of keeping it there without your make up creasing/sweating down your face. Love it.

Repurchase? I have another little sample that I have started, but once that gets used up I will definitely be investing!

My Burberry Perfume – I have now finally almost got through my life time supply of mini perfume samples! I liked this actually and would happily own it again! It was very sophisticated and grown up!

Repurchase? I definitely would consider it!

So there we have the longest empties post in twolittleowls history! Hope you managed to stay till the end/enjoyed my mini reviews! We shall see if I can beat 13 empties next month, although I very much doubt it! Let me know if you have tried any of these beauties/if you agree with my repurchase choices! #twolittleowls

Baby Diaries: The Ultimate Baby Shower Gift!

C: Now I am still not entirely convinced about baby showers… it is definitely a very American thing to me (although when it comes to Halloween and Christmas they have got the art of celebrating down!) and I didn’t really want one! However, the sister in law can only minority be tamed, so I had a baby shower/afternoon tea on my birthday and it was actually lovely! I didn’t want people to feel like they had to bring a gift, so I made sure that was specified on the invites, but one of the gifts I received I thought deserved a special mention on the blog – the Neals Yard Mother and Baby Organic Collection which is £45 and available here.

IMG_0186

First of all the packaging is absolutely beautiful, and I loved that it is a gift for mums to be as well as babies – its nice to get some pampering in before baby arrives as apparently I won’t have much time for that once my bundle of joy (poo and nappies) is here!

IMG_0187

Obviously I haven’t tried any of the baby products yet, but I shall make sure to update this post once baba has given her verdict on them (She’s still too young to be trying them)! However, the Mothers Bath Oil is by far my favourite product! It smells so lovely and relaxing, and really helps to calm down both me and my troublesome skin! Im not particularly keen on the Massage Oil just because I personally don’t like using oils/I keep dropping it and making a mess and L moans about the slippery bathroom! But the flannel is lovely quality and I enjoyed using the Mothers Balm on those pesky stretch mark areas – it stopped my skin getting itchy and kept it supple and moisturised!

This is literally the perfect gift for any mum to be! It is beautiful and functional, and the bonus is that it is all organic too where possible! I know a lot of pregnant ladies are super concerned about only using organic products on their body as obviously what your body absorbs is potentially finding its way to the little one, so this is perfect! Personally I have still been using what works for me as my skin is too sensitive to be swapping products around, but this is still perfect when you are unsure on what to buy someone for their baby shower – everyone buys baby clothes etc so its lovely to get something different!

What do you guys think of this from Neals Yard? I haven’t tried many of their products before, but I shall definitely be popping in to my local store to see what goodies they have! #twolittleowls

Review: Organic Surge Eye Gel

A: This was another Pink Parcel goody I received last month, and after both Chloe and I using it morning and night for the last two weeks we’ve decided to share our thoughts on it with you.

I don’t have problems with dark circles or puffiness (unless I’ve had a super late night with too much wine…) but I do like to use an eye gel, mainly cause it feels nice! The pump action on this is perfect and works really well – and the product is smooth and cooling to use. The gel is silky and not sticky at all – which I have come across before with eye gels. It doesn’t really have a scent, to be honest it does smell a little clinical which I was surprised about because Organic Surge use 100% natural products. I love their Face Polish (which I reviewed here), but to be totally honest I’m neither here nor there with this product. Whether that’s because I just don’t have a need for an eye gel, or because this one hasn’t wowed me I’m not sure. I also think it’s pretty pricey, at £9.95 for just 15 ml.

C: I agree with Annie in that the pump action works really well, and the product is lovely and cooling to use. However, I do suffer with puffiness in my tiny eye area so can comment a little more on its effectiveness rather than just its pleasantness to use! Since being preggo I literally cannot sleep enough, so have been suffering with dark circles and puffiness and this has really helped. Especially by applying first thing in the morning whilst I am still in bed, as by the time I get up I almost look normal! It also provides a lovely base on which to apply concealer/foundation in order to cover up those dark circles even more. So for me, this product is totally worth the pennies! If you don’t have puffiness/dark circles then this product isn’t for you – please comment below and inform Annie that she doesn’t need it and should allow me to keep it, thanks!

Have you got any eye gel or cream recommendations for us? #twolittleowls

Review: Organic Surge Skin Perfecting Face Polish

A: I received this in one of my Pink Parcels recently and was super excited to give it a go. I  love a good exfoliator, and this Pure Rosemary and Lemon Essential Oil Polish is beautiful.

I’ve been using this about twice a week for the last month, and I’ve been really happy with it – and actually looked forward to using it each time. It smells beyond amazing. Lemon is one of my favourite scents, and this smells like lemon curd so you can’t go wrong! It has a lovely silky and creamy texture, with beads for exfoliating and removing dead skin. therefore giving a smoother, brighter and softer complexion and makes my skin feel amazing. Plus, it hasn’t put my sensitive skin out of balance at all, which I’m impressed with.

Its a real treat to use – and the scents make it feel automatically calming. It’s also 100% free from parabens, synthetic fragrances and colourings – which is something I always try to look for in skincare products. And after using lots of different exfoliators, I’ve never felt pushed to repurchase any – but this I definitely would.

This is available from the Organic Surge website for just £6.99 (just click here!), and after having a browse on the site I’ve already spotted so many products I want to buy!

Foodie Friday: Hello Fresh’s Undercover Ratatouille with Lemon Roasted Sea Bream

C: Hi guys! Happy Foodie Friday! Today I am going to share with you another Hello Fresh recipe which I really enjoyed making (and eating). If you have not heard of Hello Fresh then make sure you check out our previous posts here and here, where we explain what they do and introduce you all to some of the other recipes we received!

photo(31)

So here is a picture of the recipe card/what the Sea Bream is meant to look like when finished and underneath is my attempt!

photo(30)

I don’t think I did too badly really! All the ingredients were super fresh and lovely, and the cards make it simple to re-create a professional looking meal. I had to add in roasted new potatoes, as the boyfriend doesn’t seem to think a meal without carbs is an acceptable one. To be honest, I did think they were needed/maybe we both eat too much!

Overall the food was lovely and easy to do – it only took 30 minutes to create a healthy and different meal to what we would normally eat. Perfect for week days when you don’t have a lot of time to cook after finishing work.
