February’s Empties

C: apologies for this being slightly late/the lack of posts… Our internet hasn’t been working which super sucks (mainly for the lack of Netflix or cat videos). This month hasn’t been particularly successful on the empties front, with only 7 items being finished! It’s one of those months where loads of things are running out but aren’t quite finished so hopefully next month will be a winner!

Original Source Vanilla & Raspberry Showergel – I get one of these every year in my Christmas stocking from the mother2 and I love it! It smells amazing and lathers up super well.

Repurchase? I would do if I use up my shower stash before next Christmas!

The Body Shop Ginger Anti-Dandruff Shampoo – I started using this when I had hormonal scalp issuess when preggo and I love it. I don’t have any scalp problems now but when I stopped using it I realised other products were making my scalp sore so I went back to this. It’s truly amazing.

Repurchase? Already have.

The Body Shop Satsuma Body Polish – both L and I always use this. It’s perfect at keeping skin smooth and smells nice!

Repurchase? Yes.

Rimmel 60 Secs Nail Polish in 310 Red Carpet – yeah that’s right… I actually used up a nail polish! Pretty pleased with myself about this one as my nail stash is getting pretty out of control and I always get bored of colours after a couple of uses! This was the standard quality you expect from Rimmel, a 3 day manicure that was easy to achieve.

Repurchase? Would happily buy Rimmel polishes again if my stash ever diminishes.

Loreal Revitalist Multiactive Daily Moisturiser- another product im impressed I used up! I have been trying to use up the many moisturisers I have received in beauty boxes and this was first to go. It’s too thick for every day use but at night it did a great job of keeping my skin moisturised. No idea if it helps with anti aging cos I like to think I’m not old yet.

Repurchase? It isn’t the sort of product I need so no.

Molton Brown Rhubarb and Rose Hand Cream- I loved this! It smells amazing and did a great job of keeping my hands from getting dry!

Repurchase? Yes if I ever use up the hand creams I have stashed away.

English Laundry perfume- I received this in a birchbox and I love it so had been using it on special occasions only. It smells so sweet but sophisticated!

Repurchase? I would if I’m ever richbut I think it’s too much for me to spend on a perfume! I might ask for it for Christmas or something though!

So there we have my slightly disappointing but mainly positive empties! Let me know if you agree with my mini reviews! #twolittleowls

January’s Empties Part 1 – Skincare and Make-Up

C: hi guys! We have been taking a little break from blogging recently but I can’t get out of the habit of collecting my empties to share with you all. There’s a definite sense of achievement in using up so much of my stash! I did super well in Jan so I’m splitting it into two posts and will be sharing my body care items another day!

Make-Up and Nail Stuff

Seche Vite Top Coat- this is my holy grail nail polish top coat. It makes my mani last ages and gives it a lovely glossy finish, only problem with it is the last bit always goes gloopy and horrid.

Repurchase? Yes.

Essie Nail polish in silver glitter-Iv had this so long the name has rubbed off! I loved this as it gave good coverage for a glitter polish and lasted well.

Repurchase? Yes if I can find the same shade again. I won’t be buying it again any time soon though as I have loads of silver polishes to use up.

Benefit Porefessional Primer – another blogger favourite that I actually really liked. I went off it for a while but used this sample up whilst away with family and re fell in love with it. I had forgotten how great it is! I find other cheaper primers last the same over time but nothing compares to how well make up applies over this.

Repurchase? Yes!

Bourjois 123 Perfect CC Cream – I have dedicated a whole post to this as I really love it and it’s a CC cream that’s actually pale enough for me! This is perfect for those days where you aren’t wearing much make up but still want a flawless base.

Repurchase? Definitely.

ELF Eyebrow Kit – I loved this and used it every day for about a year! However since using it up and trying other products I realise it probably isn’t as amazing as I first thought. In comparison to others it is a little cakey and the applicator provided is awful!

Repurchase? No.

Soap & Glory Kick Ass Powder- another product I loved! This was perfect at setting foundation and keeping shine at bay! It also lasted way longer than most other powders Iv tried.

Repurchase? Hella yeah!

Skincare

Garnier Micellar Water- won’t go on about this as everyone in the world knows about it. Amazing.

Repurchase? Definitely

Clinique Moisture Surge – I got my usual Clinique moisturiser for Christmas but I have been trying to use up the many samples I have hanging about and I’m so glad I did as I love this! It’s perfect for winter when your skin needs extra attention but would be too heavy for me in summer I think.

Repurchase? Definitely next autumn.

The Body Shop Camomile Sumptuous Cleansing Butter- I am so proud of myself for using this up as it was never ending! Definite value for money there! This was great at removing make up but did eventually end up making my eyes pretty sore, I’m not sure why!

Repurchase? No.

Green people Hydrating Firming Serum – didn’t like this, it was good at moisturising but made my skin feel sticky some how? I also like to think I don’t need my skin firming so just not the product for me!

Repurchase? No.

Herbal Essences Hydrating Shampoo and conditioner- not skincare but had to add them in somewhere! I got these for my baba hospital bag but I’m gross and didn’t use them so decided to finally use them up to make room in my very crowded bathroom. Iv used this brand before but this time they made my hair look greasy and gave me a super itchy scalp so obviously don’t agree with me any more!

Repurchase? No.

So there we have the first part of my empties! Let me know if you agree with my mini reviews! #twolittleowls

A No7 Christmas Count Down – Day 16!

C: 9 sleeps to gooooooooo 🙂

Today I received a mini nail effects polish in “sun rays” which has tiny gold glitter in various sizes throughout a clear topcoat. Meaning you can use this on its own for a glittery mani or under a base colour to add sparkle (which is how I will use it).

I love no7 polishes so I am happy to receive some more, and it’s good timing as my gold glitter topcoat from them has just gone to live in my empties pot! This is slightly different because it’s smaller glitter with different sizes but it will still make an amazing Christmas mani!

You guys tried this? #twolittleowls

A No7 Christmas Count Down – Day 14!

C: please say I’m not the only one who thinks December is going way too quickly this year?! I feel like iv missed out on half of the lead up, but thankfully I have finished my Christmas shopping now! Once again I opened my no7 advent calendar today:

I received a mini nail polish in “me me me” which is a bright pink. Not a particularly festive colour, but one that will appeal to most peopld buying a beauty calendar I suppose! Personally I’m not a very pink person but I often use it when doing nail art and flowers etc so it will get used I’m sure!

What do you think of pink nails? #twolittleowls

A No7 Christmas Count Down – Day7!

C: another day, another morning of no7 suprises and chocolate coins!

Today I received a Gel Finish Nail Colour in ‘red’. Genius name there guys! Normally no7 colours have fun names so this amuses me slightly this morning, clearly baba woke me up too early and I’m slightly crazy.

This is a lovely addition, firstly it’s in a classic yet festive colour. Up can’t go wrong with red nails at this time of year! I also have just almost ran out my only bright red nail polish so this is perfect timing, and a nice time to get a nail polish after the previous skincare and make up offerings!

I have also used a lot of no7 nail polishes before and I love them! The brushes are the perfect shape to easily get a professional looking mani and the formula is nice and thick to give an even covering that is long lasting and opaque in two coats. I haven’t tried anything from the gel effect line before though so it will be interesting to see how they compare!

So happy 7th December! Let me know if you have tried this range of no7 polishes before and what you think of them! #twolittleowls

Review: Binky London Blue Stargazer Glitter Nail Polish

C: I received this in one of my previous subscription boxes (a Pink Parcel I think!) and hadn’t had a chance to try it out until now – my nail polish collection is verging on ridiculous now/I need to stop buying more! This is a beautiful pale blue and silver glitter polish that has finely milled glitter as well as slightly larger silver glitter running throughout, making the name “stargazer” pretty apt really!

IMG_0193

I decided to use this just on my ring fingers, as a statement glitter finger… but totally regretted it as its such an amazing colour I am totally using it all over next time I paint my nails! As soon as I painted the first coat I was impressed – it was pretty much opaque glitter in one coat! With the second coat it was a full on glitter experience and you wouldn’t be able to see any of your natural nail colour under neath! It also painted on super smoothly and the brush was the perfect size for my nails, making the whole experience super easy to get a professional looking manicure.

In terms of longevity I wasn’t impressed or disappointed, it lasted the standard 3 days with a top coat – which I suppose is pretty good really considering this pot of glitter brilliance will only set you back £3.95.

Have any of you guys tried any of Binkys nail polish range? You can get this polish from here if you fancy trying it out for yourselves! #twolittleowls

Review: Kiko Nail Lacquer in Grass Green

C: whilst deciding what colour to paint my nails, I decided to have a look through my stash and see which nail varnishes I haven’t used recently. I have so many that lots get abandoned and forgotten about even if I love them! I realised that I haven’t actually used this nail varnish properly yet – I have only used it for nail art or on my toes rather than for a full mani! My mother in law (ish) bought me this a while ago when on holiday in Italy (you can see what else she treated me too here if you fancy) so it was about time I gave it a proper go and shared my thoughts with you readers!

IMG_0096

Now the colour… when I first put this on I really wasn’t sure! I panicked a bit and then realised I was far too lazy to repaint my nails anyway so went out to meet Annie (we went for breakfast and then shopping as per our usual Saturday plans). By lunch time I had decided I actually love it! It is super bright and definitely a Summer colour but I really do like it! Plus its good to get out your comfort zone every now and again, and a nail polish is a super easy way to do that!

The formula itself is quite thin, but in a good way as it means its quite easy to work with. This is with two coats which is pretty much opaque, and has a beautiful glossy finish. I really liked the brush too, as it made it easy to get a professional looking manicure. However, due to the thin formula, I found it did sink into any imperfections on my nails, as my nails currently split quite easily due to being pregnant, so make sure you fully prep your nails and apply a base coat and then this polish will still look perfecto!

As for longevity, I would say these have a pretty normal lasting power. My mani lasted 3 days before any significant chips arrived which is pretty normal for me as I am quite hard on my nails (an hours bath and then washing up anyone?!).

This nail polish is still available here for currently just £2.50, although their polishes are normally £3.90 so get a bargain whilst you still can!

Let us know if you have tried any Kiko nail polishes! This is the only one I have, but next time I make an order I am definitely going to invest in a couple more – they have such a good colour range! #twolittleowls

Review: Mavala in Black Night

A: I’ve had this Mavala varnish a couple of months now and I thought it was about time I shared the wealth with all of you lovely readers.

I’ve included a couple of photos to try and show you how the colour changes in the light – it really is beautiful. Dark nail varnishes are always my favourite and  I do love a good black varnish but this is a gorgeous twist from the standard black with the lovely green undertone and shimmer. It is almost two tone – but not quite, and it’s perfect for an evening out where you don’t just want to go with black nails. Plus green is my favourite colour!

It’s beautiful to apply, the brush is the perfect size and shape for my nails (they’re pretty small so not always easy to paint!) and it’s really pigmented, the photos above are just one coat! It’s long lasting too, I always use a top coat but Mavala polishes always seem to give me a few extra chip free days. They are available in Boots, and start at £4.75 a varnish – click here to see the full collection!

Have you tired any Mavala polishes? #twolittleowls

Review: Revlon Nail Enamel in Minted

C: I recently picked this bad boy up in my bargain haul post which you can see here, and loved the colour so much I used it to paint my nails as soon as I got home! I hadn’t used a Revlon nail polish before, so I didn’t really know what to expect (although their make up has always been on point so thought I might be on to a winner). This nail polish is available from Boots for £6.49 (and is currently part of a 3 for 2 offer) here.

IMG_0072

Now I don’t tell fibs on here, I always give 100% honest reviews so lets just say things didn’t start off well for this nail polish. I got a bit grumpy whilst painting my nails as it dried too quickly, as by the time I had done one brush stroke it was drying already meaning my first two coats were pretty patchy. Finally after the third coat (which is why I was grumpy – Im pretty lazy really) I had a pretty perfect looking mani and I bloody loved the colour. However, I did text Annie saying that although “Minted” was the perfect Summer colour, I am too lazy to probably use it again. As I said… not a good start.

So anyway, three days went by…. and my manicure was still perfect. Like seriously, not even one chip. Not even a tiny one. I started to get a little inkling that my first impressions were wrong about this nail polish and I should stop being so lazy/grumpy. Then 5 days went by and I only had a couple of minor chips that really weren’t noticeable and that was the deal breaker. I LOVE THIS NAIL POLISH.

Turns out, if you put the effort in this nail polish will reward you in pretty much a week of lovely nails. Which is totally worth the extra two minutes it took me to paint my nails, as usually I get annoyed at the chips and have to repaint my nails every couple of days. So say hello to my new favourite nail colour. Well done Revlon, well done. #twolittleowls

Chloes July 2015 Empties!

C: Hello Summer! Another month, another empties post for you guys! Once again I have done quite a good job of using up my beauty stash this month – if that isn’t a reason to justify shopping then I don’t know what is! I have basically used up my horrendously huge stash now – I hadnt been shopping apart from for beauty essentials since before Christmas! So more pre-baby beauty shops are definitely in order now and the perfect way to celebrate starting my maternity leave, so keep your eyes peeled for some epic hauling!

photo(45)

Soap & Glory The Righteous Butter – this is one of my favourite body butters, and since being pregnant I have been moisturising like cray to try and avoid the dreaded stretch marks! This is super moisturising, sinks in quickly and keeps skin moisturised all day – plus it smells amazing!

Repurchase – yes if I didn’t have several more lined up already!

Soap & Glory Peaches and Clean Cleanser – I wont go on about this as I reviewed it here, but this is my go to cleanser at the moment! I bloody love it!

Repurchase – I have already started my next bottle, so yes!

Anatomy Nutrients Instant Renewal Body Oil – I received this sample in a Birchbox I think, and when my skin got super dry I decided to give this a go and see if it worked better than my normal body butters. It did a good job of moisturising… I just hate the oiliness! Just not the product for me I’m afraid, I hate feeling oily and sticky but if you are a fan of body oils then I reckon you would love this!

Repurchase – Nope!

Models Own Nail Polish in Grape Juice – another product that I reviewed here, and I love it! This was one of my favourite colours in my collection but unfortunately I didn’t put the lid on properly and it spilt! I was so sad! I got a couple more uses out of it, but it is time to admit it is ready for the bin!

Repurchase – I certainly would buy this again if they still make the same shade.

Prada Infusion D’Iris Perfume – I am finally working through the samples Annie’s mum gave me just after Crimbo, as they are perfect for putting in my work bag! I wasn’t keen on this though, it apparently smells like clean linen sheets, ambience and italian voyage… bit weird. Smells like old people to me.

Repurchase – no thanks!

Jimmy Choo Perfume – I knew I liked this already as Annie has it and I steal some sometimes when I go round (soz Annie). This is a lovely floral fragrance that lasts all day. Beautiful.

Repurchase – I don’t like buying myself perfume, but it will certainly be added to the Christmas list.

So there we have it, another month of mini reviews for you all! Let me know if you have tried any of these products and what you thought of them! #twolittleowls
