Junes empties!

C: I have been trying to use up my beauty stash this month rather than buying lots of new things (we are buying a house – exciting updates to come hopefully!). But apparently I haven’t done as well as I thought/ once again it’s mostly soap & glory products!

First up we have s&g’s mist you madly body spray which is my second bottle of this bad boy. I use this on a daily basis rather than perfume as you can reapply throughout the day when you fancy and it smells amazing. Whenever I spray this someone always asks me what it is or if they can use it!
Repurchase? 100% once it’s pay day!

Natural collection pressed powder. I have so many powders as I keep buying new ones in my search for the perfect powder! This product is certainly not my holy grail powder but for the price you cannot go wrong with this if you are on a budget.
Repurchase? No, as I’m still in search for my perfect powder and have 7 others to use up first!

Benefit They’re Real mascara. My lovely mother2 treated me to this ages ago as I was looking for a new mascara and I love it. I won’t go on about it as I have reviewed it previously and so many beauty bloggers love this!
Repurchase? I already have 2 more!

S&G clean on me shower gel. My love for S&G is no secret and this was one of the many products I got for Christmas this year! It has the classic S&G scent and a bottle of this lasts me so long! I love using it and it’s probably one of the only shower gels I could use for so long and not get bored of!
Repurchase? Well I would if I didn’t have 2 more bottles to get through!

Have any of you guys tried these products? What did you think? #twolittleowlsblog

Super haul day!

A: I was doing some last minute shopping today for my boyfriend’s birthday and stumbled upon these beautiful shorts which I just had to buy. These lovely light cotton culottes will be perfect for my upcoming holiday, and they also look amazing with a pair of black tights. I think they’re going to be really versatile, with flats for a summer day and wedges for a night out. They are from Peacocks and they were £8.00 each, I couldn’t say no!
And it doesn’t stop there, my Avon delivery came today too! I ordered this corrective palette, which I’m so excited to use – it will hopefully help me hide those pesky blemishes and dark circles! And because I’m a loyal customer, my Avon rep gave me a present – this infinitize mascara! #twolittleowls

A sensible (ish) haul

C: so I went shopping today and actually managed too only buy essentials (I got a no7 free gift so that made up for it), I hope you are all very proud! Here’s what I got:

So first of all lets talk about the trousers from H&M. I have no idea why they are so fluffy, but I needed some new trousers for work and these were only £9.99 and I liked the slimming black stripes down the sides, but I am really disappointed in their sizing – this is something I have always struggled with at H&M. I had to get a 14 in these, which wouldn’t bother me at all, but I’m a 10?! So according to H&M I am in need of slimming black stripes. A size 14. That’s 2 extra dress sizes. I was not happy. Hence the short sentences. I also tried on some jeans in H&M and the size 16 didn’t fit me so I do not know whats going on with their sizes but they should sort that shiz out. Like I said, I am usually a 10 in Topshop/New Look/everywhere (apart from the boobies, they require a 12) and these were smaller than my size 10 Dorothy Perkins jeans! Has anyone else found this? I will stop rambling and start some jogging probably.

I then went to Boots as I needed a new make up brush cleaner and my friend Helen recommended the No7 one. I also picked up their Beautiful Skin BB Cream which I use on a daily basis instead of foundation as it doesn’t seem to clog up my skin as much but gives good coverage. No7 currently have an offer on in Boots where if you buy two cosmetics worth over £20 then you get a free gift which is included in the above photo. It comes in a lovely pink box and contains miniature versions of: Exceptional Definitions mascara in black, a High Shine Lip Crayon in Delicate Pink, a Skin Illuminator and a minky coloured eye shadow (I can’t see a colour/name on the box!).

The free gift from No7 definitely cheered me up after my H&M fiasco (p.s. nothing wrong with being a size 14, there is something wrong with making sizes seem super small so people start worrying about how they’ve gained an extra two dress sizes in a matter of minutes) I absolutely love mini sized products, which I know is silly because more = better with make up, but they are just so cute! I also got Annie’s birthday presents today, but I can’t share them with you because she will see! Have you guys been shopping today? #twolittleowlsblog

Daily Make-up Essentials: part two

A: Chloe showed you her daily essentials the other day, and now it’s my turn. I’ve always struggled a bit with wearing make up – especially foundation, because I have WAY too many freckles. I used to wear loads of foundation in attempt to cover them up because I was so self-conscious of them, but as I’ve got older I’ve realised that this just makes my skin look really gross and haggard! So this it what I use instead…

make up daily essentials

1. POREfessional Primer by Benefit: this is the best primer I’ve used (Chloe said the same in her post too, so it must be good!) – it’s really good for reducing pores and helps make up stay in place all day.

2. bareMinerals Original Foundaion: although this is a foundation, its in a powder form so you can really easily apply as much or as little as you need. I’ve included the bareMinerals brushes in my essentials because they are beautiful to use. The ‘flawless face’ is perfect for general coverage and the ‘max coverage concealer’ brush lets you use bareMinerals to its full advantage for covering those annoying blemishes and dark circles.

3. No.7 Amazing Eyes: this is a really versatile pencil, I use it as both an eyeliner and and eyebrow pencil (being ginger makes it really hard to find pencils that are the right colour for my brows because they are so fair!!).

4. bareMinerals All Over Face Colour: this came in my bareMinerals set, its really good for contouring and like all bareMinerals products it really lends itself to applying as much or as little as you need.

5. theBalm Whats You Type Body Builder Mascara: I LOVE this mascara, check out my review here.

6. W7 Liquid Eyeliner: I rarely leave the house without liquid eyeliner and I’ve been using this particular brand for as long as I can remember. It’s cheap, lasts all day but is also easy to remove and the brush is perfect for creating defined lines.

7. e.l.f Blush: a perfect every day blusher, lovely colour and easy to blend.

8. Model Co Party Proof lipstick in Get Naked: my favourite from the Party Proof range, exactly what you need to moisturise and add a tint to you every day make up. #twolittleowls

Daily Make-Up Essentials.

C: We thought we would share with you all our daily make-up essentials (so what we use on your average day), which will be coming in two parts. I am doing mine today and Annie will be sharing hers tomorrow!

1. Benefits Porefessional Primer – best ever for reducing the look of my bucket sized pores.

2. Mac Matchmaster Foundation 1.0 – best foundation I have ever found for my skin, perfect coverage.

3. No7 Beautiful Skin BB Cream in Fair – I used this instead of foundation for work. It makes me feel like I am doing my skin some good, even if I’m not!

4. Elf Complete Coverage Concealer – to cover up any imperfections and those horrendous dark circles after I have forgotten to sleep.

5. Powder – I like to set my foundation/concealer with a powder. This is a Collection one as I have not yet found the perfect powder, any suggestions anyone?!

6. Elf Eyebrow Kit – cannot leave the house without my eyebrows on. Love this cheaper version of the Benefit Browzings, does the job just as well for me.

7. Mac Bronzer in Medium/Dark – a natural, non-glittery finish.

8. Mac Blusher in Stay Pretty – a beautiful/girly colour thats super easy to blend

9. Mac Highlighter in Definitely Defined – true love. Two different colours depending on your mood, perfect for contouring.

10. Korres long lasting mineral eyeliner in black – so pigmented and lasts all day. Looks almost like liquid eyeliner when you haven’t got time for faffing!

11. Sleek eyeshadow palette in Au Naturel – perfect mix of glittery and every day eyeshadows that are highly pigmented.

12. Rimmel Glam Eyes Liquid Eyeliner in Black Glamour – easy to apply and lasts all day.

13. Benefit They’re Real Mascara – best. mascara. ever.

15. Maybelline Baby Lips in Pink Punch – keeps lips moisturised and looking pretty!

16. Model Co. Party Proof Lipstick in Kitty – received this in my Birchbox and I love it. Non-drying and a lovely colour that lasts ages and ages!

So turns out I wear more make-up on a daily basis than I thought! Hope you enjoyed that, let us know what you think or if you have any recommendations/questions! #twolittleowlsblog

Benefit Little Love Potions : Review

C: I got this amazing Benefit Little Love Potions set for Christmas from my lovely parentals. I thought it would be the perfect way of reviewing several Benefit items for all you lovely readers, and let you know which full size products I will be purchasing (when I’m less poor) even though the actual gift set was just available for Christmas.

1. The Porefessional – a primer that minimizes the appearance of pores. I absolutely love this, I have massive pores and nothing will get rid of them! But this amazing primer completely covers them up (second best thing to getting rid of them!) it gives a lovely smooth base for applying my make up, and it lasts ages. I will definitely be re-purchasing and Annie also got a sample of this in her Birchbox and she is buying one too!

2. Its Potent Eye Cream – lovely and thick, I haven’t noticed much difference since using this personally but I have only been using it for about a week. My sister in law uses this every day and she says she would 100% recommend! It helps brighten up her eye area and she is convinced it has got rid of her wrinkles (she didn’t have any in the first place).

3. High Beam – a classic. I absolutely love this. Blends beautifully, looks amazing under my eye brow arch and at top of cheekbones. I’m not entirely convinced I want to give up my Mac Highlighter for this but I am seriously considering it/ re-buying both.

4. Posietint – a lip and cheek stain. I like this. It’s pretty and lasts a good while but that’s all I can say on it. I am not in love, just not my sort of colour but would be perfect on holiday/for a festival when you need products with a multiple-use!

5. Stay don’t Stray – primer for eyeshadow/concealer. This is true love for me. I have an embarrassing love for glitter and this will hold even glitter eye shadows all night without them slowly sliding closer to my chin. Perfect, definite re-buyer!

6. Watts-Up – Highlighter. I like this, don’t love it. I will use it up but I wont be re-purchasing. I just found it harder to blend than the liquid High Beam (probably my lack of skills but never mind). A lovely highlighter though.

7. Badgal Lash – another classic mascara that I am sure you have all heard of. I haven’t actually used this out of my set yet but I have purchased it before and I love it. Thick, dark perfect lashes. I love this and Benefits “They’re Real” Mascara.

8. That Gal – primer. Lovely texture and made my make up last all day. However I just don’t understand how it will “brighten” my face when my foundation is on top?!?! Any suggestions guys? I liked this, but wouldn’t re-buy as Porefessional is more suited to my skin type (I feel very inclined to include mean girls huge pore quotes. I’ll save em for another day!)

9. Hoola – bronzing powder. Really liked this, easy to blend and wasn’t too dark on my pale skin. I am un-sure whether I will re-buy this. I think a comparison between my Mac bronzers may be in order first!

10. Ultra Plush (Hoola) – lipgloss. A lovely colour and sheen, lasted a long time too. I doubt I will re-buy though as I much prefer lipsticks to glosses. However, if you like lip glosses I would recommend this as it wasn’t horrid and sticky like most others I’ve tried (it tasted pretty nice too).

Well I hope that has been interesting/useful. If you own/have tried any of these Benefit goodies please let us know what you think! #twolittleowlsblog

Our Favourite Mascaras

We both find mascara’s really difficult to choose and we both want something different from them, so having found our favourties we have decided to share our reviews!

A: I LOVE massive lashes – the bigger the better as far as I’m concerned! Not those horrible, clumpy lashes but separated, long, really thick and volumised. Being pale (and very ginger), my lashes are really fair and if there’s one thing I can’t do without, its mascara. I’ve tried loads of different brands, from cheap £2.99 mascara to YSL £25.00 mascara and I’ve always been dissapointed – until now!

I found this ‘Body Builder Mascara’ by the Balm Cosmetics on the Birchbox website. It’s only £12.50, which at the time I thought might have been a bit expensive if it had been rubbish when it arrrived – but I actually think it’s great value for money. It’s really nice to use and separates my lashes, volumises them and gives me that ‘wide-eye’ look all with a couple of strokes! It doesn’t need to be layered on at all like most mascaras so clumpy eyelashes are easily avoided and also means it’s really easy to take off and doesn’t need loads of scrubbing! If you still haven’t found your perfect masacra, I would definately recommend giving this one a go.

C: When I buy a mascara, I look for something that offers defined lashes that is easy and quick to apply. My mother in law (a true beauty expert) recommended and bought me the Benefit “they’re real” mascara, which costs £19.50 – a little pricey but I think it’s worth it, it’s the first mascara I have tried that I would buy again! Definately a success.

It’s so easy to apply, doesn’t clump and lasts all day. It gives you thick but defined lashes that are perfect for every day with one sweep or gives a false lash effect if you wait for it to dry and then re-apply. The only downside is that although it lasts all day it is difficult to remove. I double cleanse and use eye make up remover and I still end up with panda eyes in the morning! But for me that’s a price I’m prepared to pay for perfect lashes! If you look for something similar to me in a mascara, I would highly recommend giving this a try!
