February’s Empties

C: apologies for this being slightly late/the lack of posts… Our internet hasn’t been working which super sucks (mainly for the lack of Netflix or cat videos). This month hasn’t been particularly successful on the empties front, with only 7 items being finished! It’s one of those months where loads of things are running out but aren’t quite finished so hopefully next month will be a winner!

Original Source Vanilla & Raspberry Showergel – I get one of these every year in my Christmas stocking from the mother2 and I love it! It smells amazing and lathers up super well.

Repurchase? I would do if I use up my shower stash before next Christmas!

The Body Shop Ginger Anti-Dandruff Shampoo – I started using this when I had hormonal scalp issuess when preggo and I love it. I don’t have any scalp problems now but when I stopped using it I realised other products were making my scalp sore so I went back to this. It’s truly amazing.

Repurchase? Already have.

The Body Shop Satsuma Body Polish – both L and I always use this. It’s perfect at keeping skin smooth and smells nice!

Repurchase? Yes.

Rimmel 60 Secs Nail Polish in 310 Red Carpet – yeah that’s right… I actually used up a nail polish! Pretty pleased with myself about this one as my nail stash is getting pretty out of control and I always get bored of colours after a couple of uses! This was the standard quality you expect from Rimmel, a 3 day manicure that was easy to achieve.

Repurchase? Would happily buy Rimmel polishes again if my stash ever diminishes.

Loreal Revitalist Multiactive Daily Moisturiser- another product im impressed I used up! I have been trying to use up the many moisturisers I have received in beauty boxes and this was first to go. It’s too thick for every day use but at night it did a great job of keeping my skin moisturised. No idea if it helps with anti aging cos I like to think I’m not old yet.

Repurchase? It isn’t the sort of product I need so no.

Molton Brown Rhubarb and Rose Hand Cream- I loved this! It smells amazing and did a great job of keeping my hands from getting dry!

Repurchase? Yes if I ever use up the hand creams I have stashed away.

English Laundry perfume- I received this in a birchbox and I love it so had been using it on special occasions only. It smells so sweet but sophisticated!

Repurchase? I would if I’m ever richbut I think it’s too much for me to spend on a perfume! I might ask for it for Christmas or something though!

So there we have my slightly disappointing but mainly positive empties! Let me know if you agree with my mini reviews! #twolittleowls

Review: L’Oreal Paris Infallible Matte Foundation

C: I kept reading such good reviews of this L’Oreal foundation offering, that when my Mac Matchmaster foundation started nearing the end of its long and happy life I thought I would give this a go and see if it would be a good drugstore (and therefore cheaper) alternative

IMG_0296

“A matte result that lasts up to 24 hours. Clinically proven; waterproof, steamproof. All the comfort, none of the shine. Perfect coverage. No Cakey effect. Easy to apply, enriched with perlite technology, and reduces the appearance of shine up to 24 hours”

IMG_0297

I picked this up in the shade “10 Porcelain” which was the lightest shade available, and actually is a very good colour match for me – lots of points for that as usually most drugstore brands aren’t pale enough for my skin-tone! But does the formula live up to its very ambitious claims?

Basically yes! It is easy to apply, blends in seamlessly with very little effort for a matte effect that lasts all day. I use this with my usual Garnier primer, but I did test it one day without and it still lasted all day, I only needed to reapply some powder late afternoon on a particularly hot day. I cannot comment as to it lasting 24 hours, as I have never worn my make up for 24 hours… but I suggest that claim is probably ambitious! My only other disagreement with the claims is that this is high coverage. I personally would rate this as having medium coverage as I still need a concealer in some areas, but that is perfect for me as I found high coverage foundations a little too much for everyday wear whereas this still feels light and comfortable.

However, overall for £7.99 (available here) I think this is totally worth the investment, and it has become one of my every day foundations (I have too many and about 8 on the go!). Have any of you guys tried this? What did you think? #twolittleowls

Chloes September Empties

C: HAPPY DUE DATE MONTH TO MEEEE! And anyway… moving quickly on (hopefully I will have a nice gory detail labour post on its way to you soon), welcome to Septembers empties! Since moving house I have had a chance to look through my stash and select the half used products I wanted rid of. Not because I didn’t like them, but because they were already opened and needed using up. So this month I have exceeded my usual 5-6 monthly empties and have used up a whole 10 products! Because there are more than usual, I have split the photos up a bit to make my mini empty reviews easier to follow! So here we go:

Stretch Mark/Baby Related Stuff

IMG_0112

Palmers Massage Lotion for Stretch Marks – this is the lotion I have enjoyed using the most, mainly because despite having a slight clinical use it actually still smells nice. Even though pregnancy sucks and all dignity is out the window, I still like being able to pamper myself and use products that seem at least slightly normal. This also keeps skin soft and supple so it can stretch without being itchy and horrid.

Repurchase? I already have!

Bio Oil – the jury is still out on this one, I think it has stopped my stretch marks from looking as red etc (they look like old ones rather than new ones really), but I don’t know how much it has prevented them so I maybe should just save this to use after labour!

Repurchase? Yep!

Derma Mum Superior Moisturising Cream – I reviewed this here so won’t bore you all with another review!

Repurchase? Not now as it’s such a large tub.

Montagne Jeunesse Face Masks

IMG_0114

Blemish Mud – I absolutely loved this, and reviewed this in full here if you fancy a goosey

Repurchase? Hella yeah!

Passion Peel Off – this made my skin feel super soft and moisturised and did do a good job of calming my skin down, but the peely-ness just isn’t for me. It felt horrid to peel off and freaked me out/made my teeth itch. I know thats weird… but no thanks. Not for me.

Repurchase? Not a peel one no!

Hair Care

IMG_0115

Batiste Dry Shampoo – not my fave dry shampoo but gets the job done – albeit with a slight white haze that needs lots of brushing through!

Repurchase? I always seem too! Although I have another bottle in my stash waiting to be used before I buy anymore!

Loreal Elvive Nutri-Gloss Shampoo sachet – I got this free in a magazine and thought it was about time I used it up rather than stashing it for some unknown occasion! I liked the smell of this, and it certainly made my hair soft and shiny but obviously its hard to tell how amazing a shampoo is from one go!

Repurchase? I would quite happily use this again.

Body Wash/Perfume

IMG_0116

The Body Shop Satsuma Body Polish – I recently re-bought the full sized version of this in my Body Shop Haul post here, so you can tell I liked it!

Repurchase? Already have!

Soap & Glory The Scrub of Your Life – this is one of my absolute favourite S&G body products. It has the standard S&G scent, but is super exfoliating at the same time. However, it is also really gentle and can be used daily, as it doesn’t even upset my super sensitive skin. Winner!

Repurchase? I have a full sized version of this in my stash waiting for me, but after thats used up I will definitely be buying another!

Calvin Klein Euphoria Blossom Perfume – yes you have read that right… I have actually given in and finished up a perfume! Normally I leave the last few pumps for special occasions as I have perfume separation anxiety, but I went all out and used this up! I bloody love this, its floral but not too old-lady-esque and the scent lasts all day.

Repurchase? this shall be on my Christmas list for Santa!

And there we have this months empties! Hope you like my mini reviews! #twolittleowls

FOTD: Birthday Tea! Featuring Christian Dior and Project Pan!

C: I recently went out for tea with some friends for a late birthday tea (nothing like spreading out the celebrations!) and really liked my make up, so decided to share it all with you!

IMG_0152

Products used:

Garnier Primer

L’oreal 24 Hour Infallible Matte Foundation

Soap & Glory Kick Ass Powder

ELF Eyebrow Kit

Benefit Hoola Bronzer

The Balms Mary Lou Manizer

Mac Blusher in Petal

Rimmel Glam Eyes Liquid Liner

Christian Dior Lifting Grey Palette

Benefit They’re Real Mascara

Model Co Party Proof Lipstick in Kitty

So apparently I used a lot of products to create this look! Overall, I think this is a really nice make up look for tea out and I chose to use my Model Co lipstick in Kitty from our Project Pan! This is the perfect choice to eating out as it is so long lasting but fades evenly, meaning you don’t have to panic about having lipstick half way round your face/ just looking like crazy lady lip liner! I also used my bronzer/highlighter/blusher choice combo to create a slight contour (pregnancy = no cheekbones) and my Dior palette which i reviewed AGES ago here, to create a smokey look! Hope you like it! #twolittleowls

Review: L’oreal Brow Artist Genius Kit

C: I recently picked up a new brow kit by L’oreal as my ELF offering has almost ran out and is no longer easily available to repurchase here in the UK. I didn’t do any research before buying this, as I was actually more interested in the L’oreal 24 hour Mattifying Foundation but their products were by one get one second price in Boots so I picked up the Brow Kit on a bit of a whim!

IMG_0121

IMG_0122

So the packaging is pretty sleek and sturdy, I really like that it contains a little mirror for travelling etc and its pretty safe when being knocked about in my make up bag. It also comes with a little pair of tweezers, although personally I would have preferred two different mini brushes: one for the wax and one for the powder compartments of the kit. If you use the same brush for both its gonna get sticky and nasty… no thanks!

IMG_0131

Heres a little selfie to show off my new L’oreal styled brows (please excuse the crazy hair). All in all I have decided that I like this kit, both the wax and the powder are easy to work with and my brows lasted all day. I was a little concerned I wouldn’t be able to use this easily, as I have only ever used my ELF brow kit but this was just as easy to tame my unruly beasty eye brows with!

Have any of you guys tried this brow kit from L’oreal? Any others that you recommend I try? #twolittleowls

A Maternity Leave Beauty Haul!

C: hello lovelies! I recently went shopping with my fellow preggo friend Danielle (who is now mother to a beaaaautiful baby boy), as she is on maternity leave and I finish in 2 shifts! So celebratory make up shopping and lunch was needed. I have become a bit obsessed with making sure I have a large enough make up stash for when baby arrives, which is quite the difference from trying to use up all my many samples/stashed products the past year! So here is what I bought!

FullSizeRender-4

Gosh BB Cream in Sand 1, £9.99 from Superdrug – I love BB Creams for every day wear, just because I find them to usually be more lightweight and comfortable on the skin. They also offer SPF which is good for preggo skin as I am more sensitive to the sun than usual! I decided to pick this up as I hadn’t seen any reviews, and the palest shade actually seemed quite a good match for me – usually I struggle to find a range of BB Creams that don’t look super orange!

L’Oreal PAris Infallible Matte Foundation in Porcelain 10, £7.99 from Superdrug – I decided to invest in this as I had seen so many positive reviews on this one! I have found that recently my skin is a lot oilier, and my base products seem to have disappeared by the afternoon so thought I would give this a go for those days when I need a bit more coverage.

L’Oreal Brow Kit in Medium Dark, £9.99 from Superdrug – as there was a get the second L’Oreal product half price offer going on I also invested in their eye brow kit. I currently use ELF’s eyebrow kit, but it has almost ran out and we can no longer easily get hold of their products in the UK so decided to try out some others. This offering from L’Oreal was the only kit without loads of unnecessary extra in (no I don’t want a bright pink glittery highlighter thanks) and that hadn’t clearly had someones mitts in, so thats the main reason it went into my shopping bag!

IMG_0040

Lastly, I then did my food shopping on the way home and a couple of standard essentials just fell into my trolley… first up Batiste Dry Shampoo. Not my fave dry shampoo, but it was on offer for a massive bottle so decided to invest as I have completely ran out! When I remember I want to pick up some COLAB offerings to try out, but this will have to do for now! I also got another bottle of Bio Oil. Being pregnant means the inevitable stretch marks that 90% of preggo ladies get, and although I have been quite lucky and not got many, I don’t want to start jinxing it now! Im not entirely sure these products work… but figured it can’t do any harm/its quite nice to have a nice belly massage to say hello to the little one!

So thats what I have been buying this week! Any recommendations, particularly on BB Creams that do super pale shades would be very welcome please! I am sure I will be reviewing these items in the coming weeks once I have had a chance to try them out properly, but if there are any that you are desperate for a review on please let me know! #twolittleowls

October’s Pink Parcel

C: okay okay I know I said last month I didn’t need another Pink parcel…  but that doesn’t mean I didn’t want one?! I have had such a lovely experience with Pink Parcel, they are always on time, they always send you a nice email to let you know your box is on its way. They are just lovely. If you would like to see my previous Pink Parcels then click here and here, but lets get on to this months box!

photo 1-9

As usual you get a little bag of 5 tampons that says “for now” to put in your handbag and two boxes “for later” which both contain 10 tampons of your choice. Saving you from going out and buying your monthly essentials as well as containing a box of treats “for you”. This is the exciting part, and here is what I received this month:

photo 2-10

The first thing I noticed was the Loreal Revitalist Multi-active Daily Moisturiser that targets the 10 signs of ageing. This is a full size, 50ml bottle that retails for £15.99 – covering the cost of your box without even including those essentials. Amazing value and a product I am super excited to try out, prevention is better than a cure and all that.

Being a nail varnish collector (hoarder) I then noticed the OPI nail polish in “girl colour”. Not something I would normally go for, but beautiful all the same. It is a very pale glittery pink which I have already tried out as a topcoat over white… it looks amazing! Very Christmassy as it gives the perfect snow effect. Another amazing edition!

Included was also a Kubiss Lip Gloss, a brand I have never heard of before. I do not normally wear lip glosses, just because I prefer lipstick but I like the colour of this so I am looking forward to trying it out. I also received a sample of Yardley’s Uplifting Daisy body lotion which I can’t wait to try as well as the usual tea-pigs tummy tonic and a chocolate bar from Daisy & Dom. If you haven’t tried their chocolate  before then you need to seriously get some – it’s amazing!

So what did you guys think of this months Pink Parcel? I loved it as usual, amazing value for money and their customer service was spot on as usual. We have some exciting news coming your way about Pink Parcels future subscription services, so make sure you follow us so you can keep up to date!
