FOTD: Ladies who Brunch Feat. Kiko Cosmetics and Project Pan!

C: a quick FOTD for you all today! I went out for a late breakfast with Annie (and the boys, but we try to ignore them as best as we can) the other day and quite liked my make up so decided to share it with you! I was also wearing my S&G lipgloss from our Project Pan (you can see the post all about it here) so thought it would be a good way to update you on how said project is going!

Please do excuse my eyebrows… I am prepping them for a nice wax ha! Other than the monstrous brows (which I used ELFS brow kit to tame as much as possible), I decided to keep my make up quite low key, especially with my base. I have delightfully hormonal skin at the moment so kept my base quite light with my GOSH BB Cream and my ELF translucent powder. Although I have several blemishes on my chin, I decided against a heavy duty concealer as Annie isn’t bothered by my horrid face and I would rather not clog up my skin any more than necessary! Special occasions for posh make up only! To warm up my skin a little I used Benefits Hoola bronzer and a little Mary Lou Manizer to highlight – being preggo means I no longer actually have cheekbones so this just contoured my face slightly so I looked like the normal me!

For my eyes I used Benefits Stay Don’t Stray primer, as it was hot weather and I knew I was going to be out all day and then lined under my eyes with a Rimmel black liner which I smudged out slightly with a brush. I then used my Kiko Eyeshadow stick in 04 Golden Chocolate all over my lid which I blended out with a fluffy eyeshadow brush. I then reapplied some more in the crease to darken it slightly and add some definition. I love these beauties for easy make up that looks like you have spent ages creating a smokey eye – I reviewed this separately here if you are interested.

I then used a black eyeshadow from W7 along my upper lashes to add some definition and finished with a couple of coats of Benefits They’re Real Eyeliner! All in all I spent about 10 minutes at the most doing my make up, but was really pleased with how it came out! Lastly I applied my S&G Sexy Motherpucker lipgloss that I am trying so hard to use up for our Project Pan, but it is lasting forever! I have used it so much and it still looks brand new… may have picked the wrong product here but congrats on such a value for money product S&G!

So anyway what do you think of my low maintenance, low-key look? It lasted all day and is simple enough for any make up beginner! #twolittleowls

Review: Kiko Nail Lacquer in Grass Green

C: whilst deciding what colour to paint my nails, I decided to have a look through my stash and see which nail varnishes I haven’t used recently. I have so many that lots get abandoned and forgotten about even if I love them! I realised that I haven’t actually used this nail varnish properly yet – I have only used it for nail art or on my toes rather than for a full mani! My mother in law (ish) bought me this a while ago when on holiday in Italy (you can see what else she treated me too here if you fancy) so it was about time I gave it a proper go and shared my thoughts with you readers!

IMG_0096

Now the colour… when I first put this on I really wasn’t sure! I panicked a bit and then realised I was far too lazy to repaint my nails anyway so went out to meet Annie (we went for breakfast and then shopping as per our usual Saturday plans). By lunch time I had decided I actually love it! It is super bright and definitely a Summer colour but I really do like it! Plus its good to get out your comfort zone every now and again, and a nail polish is a super easy way to do that!

The formula itself is quite thin, but in a good way as it means its quite easy to work with. This is with two coats which is pretty much opaque, and has a beautiful glossy finish. I really liked the brush too, as it made it easy to get a professional looking manicure. However, due to the thin formula, I found it did sink into any imperfections on my nails, as my nails currently split quite easily due to being pregnant, so make sure you fully prep your nails and apply a base coat and then this polish will still look perfecto!

As for longevity, I would say these have a pretty normal lasting power. My mani lasted 3 days before any significant chips arrived which is pretty normal for me as I am quite hard on my nails (an hours bath and then washing up anyone?!).

This nail polish is still available here for currently just £2.50, although their polishes are normally £3.90 so get a bargain whilst you still can!

Let us know if you have tried any Kiko nail polishes! This is the only one I have, but next time I make an order I am definitely going to invest in a couple more – they have such a good colour range! #twolittleowls

A FOTD from Annie

A: My boyfriend and I were away a few weeks ago visiting his family, and we were having a party on the Saturday night – I got the rare chance to spend some time on my make up which is always a treat and I was quite pleased with the outcome, I’m still playing with eyeshadows (click here for my last eyeshadow look) so please bear with me! Here’s the finished look…

2015/01/img_5246.jpg

2015/01/img_5249.jpg So here’s the products I used, in the order I used them;

Clarins Instant Light Radiance Boosting Base in Rose (click here for a review!)

Model co BB Cream in Light

Bella Pierre eyeshadow primer

Kiko Colour Sphere Shadow in 26

Avon Mega Effects Liquid Liner in Black

The Balm Cosmetics Bodybuilder Mascara

Make up Revolution Triple Baked Blusher in Peachy Keen

Avon Classic Neutral palette (brows!)

Bare Minerals Powder Foundation in Fair

ELF Matte Lip Colour in Praline

Elizabeth Arden Lipgloss in Caramel

2015/01/img_5313.png This is a super easy look to create, and other than my usual daily make up, I didn’t have much packing space so didn’t have room for a massive eyeshadow palette. But this Kiko shadow is perfect for building up colour and definition as it can be used dry or wet to create different looks. It’s the only shadow I packed but proved to work very well! I’m also really getting into lip glosses – a year ago, I only wore matte lipsticks – but since finding an old gloss which has a beautiful gold shimmer, I’ve been applying it on top of every lipstick and I think it looks so lovely! Plus it’s makes the upkeep of pigmented lip colours so much easier! And here’s a photo of me and my beautiful niece to show you how well my make up lasted!

Review: For the Love of Kiko

C: the last time we visited London the first place we both decided we needed to go was Kiko. You can see Annie’s haul post here if you fancy a nosey! I also made a couple of purchases, as my lovely mother in law had previously treated me to a lipstick and a nail polish whilst she was staying in Italy and I had fallen in love with the brand. So here is what I picked up:

photo 2(22)

Smart Lipstick in 913 Rosewood – £3.90

Long Lasting Stick Eyeshadow in 04 Golden Chocolate – £6.90

photo(37)

So first lets discuss the lipstick. So its less than £4… that is basically free and the biggest bargain ever for such a high quality product. The packaging is sleek and practical, it has never opened in my handbag and still looks lovely and new. The lipstick itself is comparable to some of the high end lipsticks I have spent £15+ on, as the formula is amazing. It is pigmented, smooth to apply, hydrating and long-lasting. Literally couldn’t want more from a £3.90 lipstick, apart from that I now want all the colours/to try the other formulas.

As for the long lasting stick eyeshadow it certainly lives up to its name. I read about these on someone else’s blog (I can’t remember who but if I do, I shall post a link for you all) as these are not something I would normally buy. I just remember the stick eyeshadows from my childhood that lasted about 20 minutes, had horrid chunks of glitter in and came in bright blue or pink! This on the other hand is one of my new favourite products. I went for a brown, as I wanted something I could get a lot of use out of and I love a nice neutral eye (means you can wear more lipstick) but this is so much more than that! As you can see from the swatches it has the most beautiful gold glitter running through it. It is finely milled and doesn’t clump at all, Annie wanted it as soon as she saw the swatches! It also lasts all day without creasing or disappearing on me. After trying it out I am totally ready to invest in some more colours!

Have any of you guys tried anything from Kiko? Let us know (and send links in case it was your post that swayed me to try the eyeshadow sticks!) #twolittleowls

Review: KIKO MILANO Lipstick and Eye Shadow with swatches

A: We recently made a trip to London for a launch party (click here if you want to see more!), and whilst Chloe and I were taking the obligatory ‘we’re on a train’ selfies, I suddenly realised I had left my lipstick at home. But don’t panic, our route from the tube station to the event was planned by following make-up shops (we are beauty bloggers after all). Our first stop was KIKO MILANO – an Italian professional cosmetics brand that features a range of cutting-edge makeup, face and body treatments. We knew we would probably end up heading here anyway; regardless of the lack of lipstick situation, because Chloe’s lovely mother-number-two actually bought her some Kiko goodies back from a trip to Italy in June (you can find the post here). She loved the products, and with the first UK store opening in April this year we hadn’t had chance to visit one for ourselves (we live in the middle of nowhere) – until now!

We visited the store on Regent Street, just off Oxford Circus, and it was SO busy. The layout of the store is amazing though, with really good lighting (you know when you go in some make-up stores and the lighting is SO bright and makes you look/feel horrendous? Totally not like that, we didn’t feel too scared to look in a mirror) and the products were well labelled and stocked. There was a lot of pushing from customers though, with everyone desperate to have get a good look everything. The products were spread across two floors but we actually only had a look round the one floor because we didn’t have much time! So what did I purchase?

Velvet Mat Satin Lipstick in Autumn Pink Shade 611 – £6.90

“Mat satin lipstick with exclusive design”

This is the best lipstick packaging I have ever seen – hands down. It’s rose gold and beautiful – but does take a little working out (there are even instructions on how to open it on the inside of the box!). Once its open, you can see the quality of the product. It smells lovely and when it’s applied it super creamy and velvety too. This shade is a gorgeous deep brownish pink with a subtle red tint. It lasted all night too, I only had to reapply once, it almost has a staining quality.  As you can probably guess, I am head-over-heels in love with this. The colour, the formula – everything about it. Plus it’s one of the only pink shades I’ve been able to find that suits me!! Ginger and pink clash in a very bad way. I also cannot believe the price of this. I would even go as far as saying that I prefer it’s texture and quality to that of my MAC matte lipstick (!!?), and it’s less than half the price!

Colour Sphere Eyeshadow in Avio Multicolour Shade 26 – £5.90

“Baked silk effect eye shadow, brilliant and easy to blend”

I normally wear eye shadows as a liner, rather than an all-over lid colour, but I thought this could work really well for both – if I am brave enough to branch out a little. Plus I don’t have a bluish toned eye shadow and I read somewhere that it’s the best colour to wear for blue eyes (I might be wrong!). It has a navy base colour with undertones of grey and gold with a gold/silver shimmer and micro glitter. I’ve used this nearly everyday for since I’ve had it, it works so well as a liner applied with a damp brush for an every day look – but also smudged out more of a smokey-eye effect. It lasts all day too! The packaging feels really high-end and durable. Not something I would expect at all from spending £5.90, it almost has a MAC look about it. There are 30 colours in this collection, plus a massive range of other eye shadow collections, all at amazing prices!

I thought I’d include some swatches to give you a true photo of how the products look when they’re applied. I’m so happy with my choices, it wasn’t an easy decision to make because Kiko have such a wide range.

If you haven’t checked out KIKO already, you should head to their website right now. They are like ELF, but better quality – don’t get me wrong, I love ELF but sometimes their packaging can be a little off, and KIKO have hit the packaging nail on the head.

Have you tried any products from Kiko Cosmetics? #twolittleowlsblog

Kiko Cosmetics: An Introduction

C: my lovely mother (number2) got home from Italy yesterday and got me an amazing present from Kiko Cosmetics! I was super excited as obviously I love make up, and who doesn’t like a nice treat? So here is what she picked for me:

photo(19)

So firstly, a little introduction to Kiko Cosmetics as although I had previously heard of them I didn’t have any of their products. Kiko is rooted in Italy where they originate from but they now have stores in London and you can order from their super easy to navigate website. Kiko describe their brand as: “Be What You Want to Be.” Through its extraordinarily wide and diversified range of products, KIKO allows everyone to express their own personality with custom-made products. A variety of colours, effects and sensations that are unique in the market to suit your style, skin tone, skin type and specific requirements, at every phase of your life.

So what products did the mother pick me? First up is this amazing Nail Lacquer in 301 – Grass Green. A beautiful bright green that I cannot wait to try out – it is perfect for summer! Kiko also have an amazing colour selection available, and from comparing this nail polish to the swatches available on their websites, the colour samples seem very accurate.

I also received a Luscious Cream Lipstick in 501 Light Rose which is a beautiful nude colour and the formula is amazingly hydrating. However, lets just talk about that packaging! As soon as I took this out of the box I was super excited about how high end this looked – so high end I couldn’t work out how to open it and mother2 had to help me! This looks amazing in my make up bag and is really sturdy so you won’t have any squished lipstick incidents – perfect!

So my overall first impressions? 100% Kiko! I shall be doing full reviews when I have had a chance to test these bad boys out, but please do let me know if you have tried them before/what you think! #twolittleowlsblog
