Review: MAC Fluid Line Eye Pencil in Atomic Ore

A: I picked this little beauty up whilst on holiday a few weeks ago, I wasn’t expecting to find a MAC shop so decided to treat myself and have a little splurge! I refused to buy another lipstick (even I have to admit that I have too many now!) so the next best thing was surely a gold eyeliner?!

I’ve been loving using gold eyeshadow under my lower lashes with a winged liner on my lid – but eyeshadow doesn’t always last well so I swatched this, left it to dry for 30 seconds whilst I had a browse at the other MAC goodies, and then struggled to wipe it off once it had dried! so I knew it would be perfect for what I wanted.

It’s a beautiful pale gold, which is exactly what I was after because it’s yellow tones really make my blue eyes pop. It had a beautiful creamy texture too so it’s smooth and easy to apply, but also easy to smudge out with a brush. It was £16 though, which is pricey for an eyeliner but it’s not something I use every day so I’m pretty sure it will last me quite a while – and it’s just nice to treat yourself sometimes. They do lots of other colours in the range too, which all look beautiful (click here if you’re tempted)! I can’t wait to do a make up look with this to show you what it’s like/see what you think!

Have you tried any of the Fluid Line Pencils from MAC? #twolittleowls

Project Pan: Rimmel Lasting Finish in Birthday Suit

A: Chloe and I have decided to give Project Pan a go this Summer (click here to see our full post), and I’ve been loving using one of my lipsticks featured so I thought I’d share this look with you.

This is the Rimmel Lasting Finish Lipstick in Birthday Suit, a beautiful nude with a gold shimmer.

I did my usual base with Model Co BB cream, Rimmel Clear Complexion Powder and I then added a gold shimmer eyeshadow from my Bellapierre Get The Look kit (review coming soon!), and my go to winged liner and mascara.

I really think this lipstick works well with a subtle eye for an everyday look, but I’m also super excited to team it with a smokey eye for an evening look too! The texture is lovely and creamy, and keeps my lips hydrated all day. It’s not really long lasting, but a nude is easy to apply throughout the day so I don’t mind too much!

What do you think to this look? #twolittleowls

St Paddy’s Day Nails! (And a cheeky photobomb!)

A & C: so we thought that in order to celebrate St Paddy’s day we would share with you our themed nail art!

Chloe’s nails:

So firstly…. Look at the cat! Best photobomb ever! We laughed at this photo for ages and almost burnt our home made pizzas! To do this I used a paler colour on my middle finger and did 4 small hearts in order to make the clover shape! Gold also looks amazing with green so I used a gold glitter on my ring fingers (leprechaun gold obviously).

A: Bill was far too interested in eating by the time I took my picture, so no photobomb treats in this one I’m afraid. I used the same pale green as Chloe on my ring finger and the dark green and gold for my other nails. I then used a glittery red, the same glittery gold, the dark green and a purple to make a rainbow on the pale green nail. It took a lot of concentration but I think it’s worth it!!

What did you do for St. Patricks day? Let us know! #twolittleowlsblog

Nailed it with nail studs!

A: Nail studs are a really cool nail art idea, and one of my favourites to do because they look really professional! I guarantee everyone will ask how you managed to do them and they are SO SO easy to do!

Image

Step One: Choose your colours. Obviously use the usual clear for base and top coats. I normally go for black when I’m using gold studs, that way they go with pretty much all of my outfits but try to use a dark colour as your base, that way the studs will really stand out. The studs I’ve used are available here if you don’t already have some and the dotting pen is the same as Chloe used in her spotty nails post (you can use a cocktail stick, but I would highly recommend ordering some dotting pens, they come in handy for all sorts of nail art!)

Step Two: The usual cleaning, filing, buffing to prep your nails. Then add your base coat and then your colour (blck in my case).

Step Three: Now the fun can start…

Image

Add another layer of your coloured varnish to your statement nail and then place on your stud using the dotting pen. It does help to have everything laid out in advance for this, otherwise you can get nail varnish everywhere and then have to start all over again (trust me – I’ve learnt from experience!) Press down on the stud using the end of the dotting pen, make sure its secure. Repeat this for your other hand and allow to dry.

Step Four: Add anything else you want! I’ve gone for a coordinating gold glitter on one other nail. Once you’ve finished, add a clear top coat too all of your nails, your can paint over the stud with the clear varnish to make it extra secure.

Here’s another idea which Chloe tried out, using two studs on her statement nail and a brighter colour – perfect for summer!

Winter Nails!

C: This horrible winter weather (rain!) is not looking like its going to end any time soon, so we thought we would share with you our favourite winter nail colours/varnishes to cheer up your day! So even if it is horrible outside, atleast your nails look nice?!

Image

In winter, I tend to stick to darker colours like navy, a deep red and black as well as nudes and golds. I’m not sure why, but both me and Annie agreed that these are the colours for winter and brighter colours for the summer months! However, we cant just have boring dark coloured nails all winter, so here are our favourite Winter themed glitter nail varnishes to add too those colours for more sparkle and excitement!

Image

We use these to add sparkle to either all our nails, or just one statement finger. Stay tuned for our nail art posts, as we are scheduling our next one in for the weekend! Accessorize your newly manicured hands with a bold statement ring and some midi-rings (I just got some amazing ones from matalan – bargain!) for that perfect Winter look. #twolittleowlsblog
