Chloes 2014 Beauty Favourites!

C: This has been our blogs first Christmas, and therefore our first New Year! To celebrate our first year (almost!) of blogging I have decided to do a post on my favourite beauty/make up items of 2014. Some of these I already loved before starting the blog, whereas others are new discoveries through twolittleowls! I have split these into several sections, because apparently blogging has been bad for my bank balance and I now have loads of favourites that I cannot live without!

photo 2-22

ELF HD Powder – my new favourite powder that is super cheap and lasts forever! I have used this every day since I got it 6 months ago, and it is still half full! It keeps shine at bay all day and makes foundation look super natural!

The Balms Mary Lou Manizer – I won’t go on about this, as I reviewed it here but it is definitely my new favourite highlighter!

Benefit Hoola Bronzer – another blogger favourite that is the perfect bronzer for pale skin!

Benefit Stay Don’t Stray – never thought I would be someone who wears an eyeshadow primer… I originally thought they were a bit of a lie/con! But they really do work! I received this in a Birchbox and it has lasted for ages, so I will definitely re-buy it when it runs out!

Benefit Boi-ing Concealer – this has always been a favourite of mine. Covers spots and darks circles perfectly. Heaven.

Benefit Professional Primer – never knew I was such a Benefit fan until I started this… but hey ho. This is perfect for covering up my pores. I wouldn’t use it every day as it does clog up my skin a bit but it is perfect for nights out and special occasions!

You can’t have nice make up, without investing in nice brushes! My favourite this year has to be my DaVinci Rondo foundation brush. It makes applying a smooth perfect base so easy! I love it! I have also become a massive fan of all Real Techniques brushes, and this precision eye shadow brush from The Vintage Cosmetics Company. All of these bad boys make my make up look almost like I know what I’m doing!

photo 3-11

ELF Eyebrow Kit – another beauty product I never thought I would love! I never used to fill in or do anything to my eyebrows (don’t panic I did pluck them), and now when I look at photos I freak myself out! This is comparable to the Benefit Browzing’s and a fraction of the price!

Urban Decay Naked Basics Palette – won’t go on about this too much, as there will be a review coming shortly but I am now in LOVE!

Benefit They’re Real Mascara – oh look. Another Benefit product! Perfectly separated, massive lashes. The only downside is its so long lasting that its super hard to remove!

photo 4-5

Model Co Lipstick in Kitty – another Birchbox discovery that I have since repurchased! This is the perfect pinky nude for me. It is long lasting yet hydrating, and definitely the product that sparked my love for lipsticks!

No7 Lip Crayons – I am not putting the shade, as this is a general love for all of them! I have a couple now, and they are amazing. They are highly pigmented, moisturising and long lasting. Definitely the perfect alternative to the Clinique Chubby Sticks if you are looking for something a little cheaper!

Laqa & Co Lip Lube – another surprise favourite. Purple lip lube you say?! never! But I love it! It is moisturising, pigmented and fades evenly so you dont need to worry about it being all over your face/looking horrendous.

So guys, what are your 2014 favourites? Any the same as mine? #twolittleowls

June Favourites

C: now you all need to be super proud of me… I haven’t bought anything new in June! I am saving for a house (which we have hopefully found! Pics to come if you are interested!) and so I have been searching through my beauty stash and re-discovering old favourites that I had forgotten about! So here is what I have been loving this month.

So first up we have Models Own scented nail polish in Grape Juice. I love this colour for the Summer months, and although if you use a top coat you can’t smell it anymore, it lasts for ages without chipping.

The Body Shop’s Camomile Sumptuous Cleansing Butter – I won’t bang on about this as I recently reviewed this here and I have been using it every day to treat my skin and removed all my make up.

St Tropez Gradual Tan… not something I would normally use as I like being pale! However, after getting a tan in a t-shirt dress and then being a bridesmaid in a strapless dress I needed something to even out the farmer tan/ make me look less like my dad. This was perfect for every day use and gave me a lovely natural colour without being orange/patchy. I would recommend for any fake tan newbies as if I can use it, anyone can.

Mac Blusher in Stay Pretty. I won’t go on about this either because everyone knows Mac is amazing, but this beautiful pink has been my go to shade this Summer/Spring. It is so pretty and blends out perfectly.

Last up we have the Balms Mary Lou Manizer – a beauty blogger favourite. I only got this a little while ago with my Birchbox points (and therefore doesn’t count as spending money) and I love it! You can use it for highlighting cheeks, eye brows, eyes or even as an eyeshadow. It also lasts all day and I just love it. The packaging is also super cute which makes me even happier every time I use it.

What have you guys been loving this month? Let us know! #twolittleowlsblog

Hair Oils: A Review/Comparison

C: So as promised here is todays post on the hair oils that we have recently tried out/tested for you all!

1. Avon Advance Techniques Morrocan Argan Oil
A: I LOVE this product, but I’ve already banged on about it loads in a review so click here to see it!

C: I liked this oil, it made my hair soft, reduced frizz and made it generally more manageable. For such a cheap price I would definitely recommend but unfortunately I didn’t like the smell. I can’t even describe it, I just prefer sweet smells and this is more fresh/citrus with a strange undertone.

2. Hair Oil by Beauty Protector
A: This was a sample we both recieved in our Birchboxes. I’m not totally sold on it to be honest. Unlike the Avon oil, it left my hair feeling greasy plus it didn’t smell very nice!

C: I liked the smell of this… apparently me and Annie have opposite smell tastes. If that makes sense. I didn’t like this the first time I tried it, but I stuck with it and I can definitely see a difference in the overall condition of my hair. I see this as more of a leave in conditioner than the usual advantages you look for in a hair oil. It didn’t reduce frizz/fly aways but my hair feels stronger and more conditioned, so if that is what you are looking for then I would recommend! This is available on the Birchbox website (and the leave in detangler this brand do is also amazing!)

3. Morrocan Oil
A: This is the most expensive hair oil I’ve used and to be honest, I didn’t find a lot of differences between this and the Avon oil (I know, I know I’m biased – but it really is that good!!)

C: This is my favourite. The scent, the texture, everything. It makes my hair feel so soft and manageable, reduces frizz and fly aways. True love and worth every penny in my opinion.

4. Miracle Oil by Carino (Aldi)
A: I was pretty happy with this product, it’s cheap and cheerful – does the job and it makes my hair feel super soft with lots of shine!I

C: for £3.50 I have no complaints with this product. I would even say it was comparable to Moroccan Oil’s amazingness. It gives soft and shiny hair that isn’t weighed down/greasy and reduces frizz. What more could you want from such a bargain!

So have you guys tried any of these hair oils? Do you agree with our reviews? #twolittleowlsblog

Soap and Glory: A Review

C: I absolutely love Soap and Glory products, I have been using them for over 3 years now since I got my first gift set for Christmas. I love the beautiful packing and most of the time the product inside matches up to its beautiful exterior. I received a ridiculous amount this Christmas, including several products that I had not used before so I thought a review was in order. I also received so much I could give some to Annie so she could try them and give her opinions as well (yes, I know. I’m probably the best friend ever). I could go on and on about Soap and Glory, so we decided to cut it as short as possible and only include our favourite products and any problems that we encountered. So my favourite product is the Sugar Crush shower gel:

Its fresh limey/sweet scent is amazing and definitely my favourite out of all the different shower gel/moisturiser lines Soap and Glory do. However, I do think its a more summery smell so I have had to force myself to stop using it so I can save it for the sunshine (if we get any so maybe I shouldn’t bother!). It is also very moisturising, and although I have really sensitive skin I have never had a reaction to it or any of their other products. My only negative review of all the products I have tried is that I received a pump version of the Butter Yourself body moisturiser and the pump/bottle is awful. Only a tiny amount comes out at a time, and as I get dry skin and use a lot of moisturiser it takes me forever! it does still smell amazing and sink in quickly though so I shall let them off, just this once. I shall be purchasing some of the Soap and Glory skincare soon, as I have only tried their cleanser so I am really interested to see if their skincare range (Scrubatomic!) is as good as their other products!

A: Okay, so you’re probably all going to be really shocked but I have never used any Soap and Glory products. I know, I know, but I am kind of new to this whole beauty thing (Chloe teaching me the ways of beauty perfection was one of the inspirations behind starting our blog). I was pretty impressed when she let me have some of her extra travel sized versions of stuff she already had. But at the time, I didn’t have any idea how nice Soap and Glory is to use!! There was a massive hype about it and now I know why. Everything is nice to use and has really lovely fresh scents, but my favourite product is the ‘The Scrub of your Life’.

This smells amazing and is such a good exfoliator, and the best part for me is that it didn’t give me dry skin, which I was expecting! I have really sensitive skin anyway so I was really dubious about using the range, I normally stick to products which have no added scents or colours but I had no problems at all with Soap and Glory.

The only thing I didn’t like was the body butter – I thought it was way too greasy so was a bit disappointed. But, I’m not a fan of body butters anyway, Chloe loves them and the Soap and Glory one is one of her favourites! #twolittleowls

Our Favourite Mascaras

We both find mascara’s really difficult to choose and we both want something different from them, so having found our favourties we have decided to share our reviews!

A: I LOVE massive lashes – the bigger the better as far as I’m concerned! Not those horrible, clumpy lashes but separated, long, really thick and volumised. Being pale (and very ginger), my lashes are really fair and if there’s one thing I can’t do without, its mascara. I’ve tried loads of different brands, from cheap £2.99 mascara to YSL £25.00 mascara and I’ve always been dissapointed – until now!

I found this ‘Body Builder Mascara’ by the Balm Cosmetics on the Birchbox website. It’s only £12.50, which at the time I thought might have been a bit expensive if it had been rubbish when it arrrived – but I actually think it’s great value for money. It’s really nice to use and separates my lashes, volumises them and gives me that ‘wide-eye’ look all with a couple of strokes! It doesn’t need to be layered on at all like most mascaras so clumpy eyelashes are easily avoided and also means it’s really easy to take off and doesn’t need loads of scrubbing! If you still haven’t found your perfect masacra, I would definately recommend giving this one a go.

C: When I buy a mascara, I look for something that offers defined lashes that is easy and quick to apply. My mother in law (a true beauty expert) recommended and bought me the Benefit “they’re real” mascara, which costs £19.50 – a little pricey but I think it’s worth it, it’s the first mascara I have tried that I would buy again! Definately a success.

It’s so easy to apply, doesn’t clump and lasts all day. It gives you thick but defined lashes that are perfect for every day with one sweep or gives a false lash effect if you wait for it to dry and then re-apply. The only downside is that although it lasts all day it is difficult to remove. I double cleanse and use eye make up remover and I still end up with panda eyes in the morning! But for me that’s a price I’m prepared to pay for perfect lashes! If you look for something similar to me in a mascara, I would highly recommend giving this a try!
