A No7 Christmas Count Down – Day 17 & 18!

C: ahh I had been doing so well at remembering every day!!! But alas, yesterday was just too busy and I didn’t have time… Well I did last night but I was too busy laying on the sofa drinking snowballs.

So yesterday I received the Stay Perfect Amazing Eyes Pencil in black. Now this is the third eyeliner of the advent calendar which would normally annoy me but I hadn’t tried these before and I’m absolutely loving them!

Then today I received a Stay Perfect Eye Shadow which is apparently a shade from the Moonlight Shadow Trio. It is a very pale pinky nude and looks perfect as an inner corner highlight (it’s a lot paler than I could photograph). Once again I am happy to receive this as I love the quality of no7 eye shadows!

What do you think of these advent calendar treats?! I shall try my hardest to post again tomo but you know… There’s Christmas films to be watching and chocolate that needs eating #twolittleowls

Review and FOTD: Cargo Color Palette

C: I received this Cargo Color Palette in my August Cohorted box (which I posted about here if you are interested) and have finally got round to trying it out. I wasn’t particularly excited about the colours to be honest with you, they are very neutral/looked more like blushers and bronzers to me!

IMG_0299

The packaging is quite pretty and is super sturdy, so you could travel with this easily without having to worry about it getting damaged or broken in your make up bag. If you look closely theres also a nice reflection of me in there with my sunglasses on my head apparently! Extra little selfie for you guys.

FullSizeRender-12

Inside there is a really large mirror which is also super handy if you were taking these travelling, and all four shadows are a really good size. However you can see why I initially thought these were blushers/bronzers right?!

IMG_0347

And here is the look I created using these! The eyeshadows themselves are so neutral I added a nice dark cat eye flick for a little bit of drama, but otherwise kept my make up light and natural as these aren’t the sort of shadows I would wear for a night out.

The shadows themselves are lovely quality, creamy and easy to blend. They also lasted all day with my Benefit Stay Don’t Stray primer, so I was really pleased with them in that way. Personally though this shade range just isn’t for me! I much prefer a darker or more glittery eye so this isn’t something I would have purchased myself (I may just use them as blushers!), however the quality of these for price (£10!) is amazing and I would love to get some different colours!

I can’t actually find anywhere that stocks these… so if you know send me a link to add pretty please! Or let me know if you have tried them/also received the Cohorted beauty box! I would love to see some looks you have created! #twolittleowls

Review/FOTD: Laura Geller Baked Impressions Eye Duo in Fine Wines

C: I recently gave in and ordered the August Cohorted Beauty Box (for the full post click here) and one of the items inside was this eyeshadow duo by Laura Geller. I have seen these beauties around, but never invested in them/found them particularly exciting so it was nice to receive an item I wouldn’t normally try. You can buy this from Amazon for £9.95 here.

FullSizeRender-10

The packaging itself isn’t anything too exciting, but it is sturdy meaning you can throw it in your make up bag without being too worried about it. It also has a tiny mirror inside which is a nice addition but not that useful really as its so small!

FullSizeRender-11

When you open it up it is embossed with a beautiful floral/grape print, which is in-keeping with its name “fine wines”. The colours are also beautiful for Autumn and although not normally something I would pick for myself I actually really liked them!

IMG_0314

And here is the smokey eye look I created using them! I added a winged liner for extra definition and I really like it! The eyeshadows are easy to blend and are super pigmented, they also last all day without creasing/disappearing!

So overall I am really impressed with these eyeshadows and pleased that my Cohorted box introduced me to a new brand. Have any of you guys tried anything from Laura Geller? What would you suggest trying next?! #twolittleowls

Review: Make Up Revolutions Awesome Metals Eye Foils in Black Diamond

C: another birthday present review today thanks to Annies excellent make up gift buying powers! I loved receiving this pigment from Make Up Revolution as it is so different to anything else in my collection!

IMG_0241

IMG_0243

I received this in the shade “Black Diamond” which is absolutely perfect for me as Annie knows I prefer to use a darker eyeshadow to create a smokey eye look, or to use as a liner when I am going for less dramatic eye make up. It is a dark grey foil effect shimmer and it is absolutely beautiful!

Included in the kit is a little liquid eye primer as well as a mixing tray, the idea being you drop a little primer into the tray and then mix the pigment to your desired pigmentation. You then apply this to your eyes, and build it up in layers to the desired effect! This seemed a little complicated to me… so I decided to show you my first attempt as a real review of how easy this is to use as well as how good the product itself is.

IMG_0272

So my first attempt at using this was reasonably successful! Next time I used it I applied more colour for a more pigmented look, but it is definitely about trial and error to achieve the look you are aiming for – which is perfect really as you can go as pigmented as you dare! I also really enjoyed playing about with this – it certainly isn’t something you would use if you were in a rush, but I really enjoy spending time playing about with my make up and trying new things so if you are a beauty obsessive like me I’m sure that won’t be a problem for you!

Once applied the primer did a great job of making this stay put. It didn’t crease or melt off my face like a lot of eyeshadows tend to do in this strange heat we had been experiencing in the UK! Meaning it will be perfect for a night out when I want to create a full on dramatic eye look! All in all I love this product, mainly because I have nothing similar in my collection and it is such a fun idea!

If you fancy trying this it is only £4 and available here – there are also lots of other beautiful colours, I particularly have my eye on the Rose Gold and Emerald shades! #twolittleowls

Review: Bella Pierre Get The Look

A: Okay so I have actually had this beautiful little trio for a long while now, and I hadn’t used it for ages – but it’s now one of my faves!

It was a bargain that I picked up from TK Maxx for £9.50, at the time I hadn’t heard of the brand – I just thought the colours were really pretty but after a bit of research when I got home, I saw that these kits actually retail at £39.99 which is crazy!

Firstly, the brushed alone are worth £14.99 each, and they are really lovely to use. The liner brush is super precise and the blender is lovely and soft too and lends itself perfectly to blending the metallic minerals.

So onto the shadows themselves…

As you can see you get three shadows in the kit; a light, a medium and a dark shade. The kits come in various colours – this is the ‘Pretty Woman’ kit. They designed to use together to create that perfect smokey eye look, which they work really well for – but they’re also beautiful on their own as an all-over eye colour because they are so pigmented and shimmery.

I’m really pleased I got my hand on this particular kit because the copper tones are perfect for me. The kit actually also comes with a primer (forgot to photograph this soz!), but this really helps to keep the shadow in place all day/evening.

I’m really excited to show you some make-up looks with these – if you want to see the whole collection by Bella-Pierre, just click here! #twolittleowls

FOTD: Ladies who Brunch Feat. Kiko Cosmetics and Project Pan!

C: a quick FOTD for you all today! I went out for a late breakfast with Annie (and the boys, but we try to ignore them as best as we can) the other day and quite liked my make up so decided to share it with you! I was also wearing my S&G lipgloss from our Project Pan (you can see the post all about it here) so thought it would be a good way to update you on how said project is going!

IMG_0097

Please do excuse my eyebrows… I am prepping them for a nice wax ha! Other than the monstrous brows (which I used ELFS brow kit to tame as much as possible), I decided to keep my make up quite low key, especially with my base. I have delightfully hormonal skin at the moment so kept my base quite light with my GOSH BB Cream and my ELF translucent powder. Although I have several blemishes on my chin, I decided against a heavy duty concealer as Annie isn’t bothered by my horrid face and I would rather not clog up my skin any more than necessary! Special occasions for posh make up only! To warm up my skin a little I used Benefits Hoola bronzer and a little Mary Lou Manizer to highlight – being preggo means I no longer actually have cheekbones so this just contoured my face slightly so I looked like the normal me!

For my eyes I used Benefits Stay Don’t Stray primer, as it was hot weather and I knew I was going to be out all day and then lined under my eyes with a Rimmel black liner which I smudged out slightly with a brush. I then used my Kiko Eyeshadow stick in 04 Golden Chocolate all over my lid which I blended out with a fluffy eyeshadow brush. I then reapplied some more in the crease to darken it slightly and add some definition. I love these beauties for easy make up that looks like you have spent ages creating a smokey eye – I reviewed this separately here if you are interested.

I then used a black eyeshadow from W7 along my upper lashes to add some definition and finished with a couple of coats of Benefits They’re Real Eyeliner! All in all I spent about 10 minutes at the most doing my make up, but was really pleased with how it came out! Lastly I applied my S&G Sexy Motherpucker lipgloss that I am trying so hard to use up for our Project Pan, but it is lasting forever! I have used it so much and it still looks brand new… may have picked the wrong product here but congrats on such a value for money product S&G!

So anyway what do you think of my low maintenance, low-key look? It lasted all day and is simple enough for any make up beginner! #twolittleowls

The Make-Up Clear Out!

C: now I have moved house and have started my maternity leave I decided it was time for the dreaded make up clear out. I am an epic hoarder and absolutely hate throwing away things that aren’t completely used up, I also used to take all my older make up in my work bag so I didn’t risk breaking or loosing something precious (broken UD palettes sound like a tragedy to anyone else?!). Now I have finished work I have absolutely no reason to keep some of these products that generally went un-used anyway, so here we have my make up clear out!

FullSizeRender-5

Aww look at all the sad, battered and bruised make up! As you can see most of these products are super old but previously very loved! So what exactly have I decided to throw out?

IMG_0077

Natural Collection Eye Case – I got this for Christmas when I was about 15 from my Auntie and I was in love with it! Unfortunately, I also dropped it and broke the black colour and used up the dark brown and almost all of the pale neutral shade. I basically kept this for sentimental purposes as it was my first eye shadow palette, as I have never really used the purple and pink shades!

IMG_0080

Avon True Colour Eyeshadows in Deep Forest – another well loved eye shadow product, that I would still be using today if it hadn’t died of old age. The shadows used to be super pigmented and blendable but have gone hard and horrid. I am not moaning, as I bought these at uni so they lasted a good couple of years! I would happily re-purchase these if Avon stocked the colour again (which they don’t, alas).

IMG_0078

17 Colour Compact – pretty sure my Auntie also got me this one Christmas too! Both of the neutral shades are basically finished and I would never use the blue eye shadow even if I do pretend I am adventurous with my make up – thats just too adventurous/13 years old for me to handle! I also never use lip products that come in palettes due to the obvious eyeshadow powdery/stickiness that you can witness here!

IMG_0079

Virgin Vie Lipstick in Sheer Candy – yes you read that right, I am such a hoarder I have still kept a Virgin Vie lipstick that is basically empty and definitely gone off. I haven’t used this in forever but once again another product I was struggling to say goodbye to as I hadn’t quite finished it (I am starting to think I take after my stingy father a little bit too much!).

Ted Baker Purple Eyeliner – there is no shade name on this, and I don’t think I have ever used it to be quite honest. It came in a gift set and I completely forgot about it! It is not very pigmented now, possibly due to old age so its time for the bin I’m afraid.

So there we have my make up clear out! Is anyone else as bad at hoarding products as me?! I don’t know what it is about beauty items, but unless they have ran out I just can’t seem to say goodbye! On the plus side, I am now all ready to set up my dressing table in my new house, so keep an eye out for my beauty storage posts that are coming your way! #twolittleowls
