A No7 Christmas Count Down – Day 17 & 18!

C: ahh I had been doing so well at remembering every day!!! But alas, yesterday was just too busy and I didn’t have time… Well I did last night but I was too busy laying on the sofa drinking snowballs.

So yesterday I received the Stay Perfect Amazing Eyes Pencil in black. Now this is the third eyeliner of the advent calendar which would normally annoy me but I hadn’t tried these before and I’m absolutely loving them!

Then today I received a Stay Perfect Eye Shadow which is apparently a shade from the Moonlight Shadow Trio. It is a very pale pinky nude and looks perfect as an inner corner highlight (it’s a lot paler than I could photograph). Once again I am happy to receive this as I love the quality of no7 eye shadows!

What do you think of these advent calendar treats?! I shall try my hardest to post again tomo but you know… There’s Christmas films to be watching and chocolate that needs eating #twolittleowls

A No7 Christmas Count Down – Day 13!

C: hi guys! Unfortunately I am now officially half way through my advent calendar! Which makes me super duper sad cos I have been loving it! I definitely need one of these again next year.

Today I got a sample size (I think it’s about half a normal eyeliner size) stay perfect amazing eyes pencil in brown.

I am very happy to get this as I have been thinking about investing in a brown eye liner to try a softer every day make up look anyway! However it only seems like a couple of days since I got the gold eye liner in the calendar and I initially panicked that this was the same again!

It is once again super soft, easy to blend and super pigmented. It also seems to be really long lasting as I swatched this on my arm before my shower and it’s still going strong!

What do you guys think of brown eye liner? Any FOTD ideas? #twolittleowls

FOTD: Ladies who Brunch Feat. Kiko Cosmetics and Project Pan!

C: a quick FOTD for you all today! I went out for a late breakfast with Annie (and the boys, but we try to ignore them as best as we can) the other day and quite liked my make up so decided to share it with you! I was also wearing my S&G lipgloss from our Project Pan (you can see the post all about it here) so thought it would be a good way to update you on how said project is going!

Please do excuse my eyebrows… I am prepping them for a nice wax ha! Other than the monstrous brows (which I used ELFS brow kit to tame as much as possible), I decided to keep my make up quite low key, especially with my base. I have delightfully hormonal skin at the moment so kept my base quite light with my GOSH BB Cream and my ELF translucent powder. Although I have several blemishes on my chin, I decided against a heavy duty concealer as Annie isn’t bothered by my horrid face and I would rather not clog up my skin any more than necessary! Special occasions for posh make up only! To warm up my skin a little I used Benefits Hoola bronzer and a little Mary Lou Manizer to highlight – being preggo means I no longer actually have cheekbones so this just contoured my face slightly so I looked like the normal me!

For my eyes I used Benefits Stay Don’t Stray primer, as it was hot weather and I knew I was going to be out all day and then lined under my eyes with a Rimmel black liner which I smudged out slightly with a brush. I then used my Kiko Eyeshadow stick in 04 Golden Chocolate all over my lid which I blended out with a fluffy eyeshadow brush. I then reapplied some more in the crease to darken it slightly and add some definition. I love these beauties for easy make up that looks like you have spent ages creating a smokey eye – I reviewed this separately here if you are interested.

I then used a black eyeshadow from W7 along my upper lashes to add some definition and finished with a couple of coats of Benefits They’re Real Eyeliner! All in all I spent about 10 minutes at the most doing my make up, but was really pleased with how it came out! Lastly I applied my S&G Sexy Motherpucker lipgloss that I am trying so hard to use up for our Project Pan, but it is lasting forever! I have used it so much and it still looks brand new… may have picked the wrong product here but congrats on such a value for money product S&G!

So anyway what do you think of my low maintenance, low-key look? It lasted all day and is simple enough for any make up beginner! #twolittleowls

Review: MAC Fluid Line Eye Pencil in Atomic Ore

A: I picked this little beauty up whilst on holiday a few weeks ago, I wasn’t expecting to find a MAC shop so decided to treat myself and have a little splurge! I refused to buy another lipstick (even I have to admit that I have too many now!) so the next best thing was surely a gold eyeliner?!

I’ve been loving using gold eyeshadow under my lower lashes with a winged liner on my lid – but eyeshadow doesn’t always last well so I swatched this, left it to dry for 30 seconds whilst I had a browse at the other MAC goodies, and then struggled to wipe it off once it had dried! so I knew it would be perfect for what I wanted.

It’s a beautiful pale gold, which is exactly what I was after because it’s yellow tones really make my blue eyes pop. It had a beautiful creamy texture too so it’s smooth and easy to apply, but also easy to smudge out with a brush. It was £16 though, which is pricey for an eyeliner but it’s not something I use every day so I’m pretty sure it will last me quite a while – and it’s just nice to treat yourself sometimes. They do lots of other colours in the range too, which all look beautiful (click here if you’re tempted)! I can’t wait to do a make up look with this to show you what it’s like/see what you think!

Have you tried any of the Fluid Line Pencils from MAC? #twolittleowls

The Make-Up Clear Out!

C: now I have moved house and have started my maternity leave I decided it was time for the dreaded make up clear out. I am an epic hoarder and absolutely hate throwing away things that aren’t completely used up, I also used to take all my older make up in my work bag so I didn’t risk breaking or loosing something precious (broken UD palettes sound like a tragedy to anyone else?!). Now I have finished work I have absolutely no reason to keep some of these products that generally went un-used anyway, so here we have my make up clear out!

FullSizeRender-5

Aww look at all the sad, battered and bruised make up! As you can see most of these products are super old but previously very loved! So what exactly have I decided to throw out?

IMG_0077

Natural Collection Eye Case – I got this for Christmas when I was about 15 from my Auntie and I was in love with it! Unfortunately, I also dropped it and broke the black colour and used up the dark brown and almost all of the pale neutral shade. I basically kept this for sentimental purposes as it was my first eye shadow palette, as I have never really used the purple and pink shades!

IMG_0080

Avon True Colour Eyeshadows in Deep Forest – another well loved eye shadow product, that I would still be using today if it hadn’t died of old age. The shadows used to be super pigmented and blendable but have gone hard and horrid. I am not moaning, as I bought these at uni so they lasted a good couple of years! I would happily re-purchase these if Avon stocked the colour again (which they don’t, alas).

IMG_0078

17 Colour Compact – pretty sure my Auntie also got me this one Christmas too! Both of the neutral shades are basically finished and I would never use the blue eye shadow even if I do pretend I am adventurous with my make up – thats just too adventurous/13 years old for me to handle! I also never use lip products that come in palettes due to the obvious eyeshadow powdery/stickiness that you can witness here!

IMG_0079

Virgin Vie Lipstick in Sheer Candy – yes you read that right, I am such a hoarder I have still kept a Virgin Vie lipstick that is basically empty and definitely gone off. I haven’t used this in forever but once again another product I was struggling to say goodbye to as I hadn’t quite finished it (I am starting to think I take after my stingy father a little bit too much!).

Ted Baker Purple Eyeliner – there is no shade name on this, and I don’t think I have ever used it to be quite honest. It came in a gift set and I completely forgot about it! It is not very pigmented now, possibly due to old age so its time for the bin I’m afraid.

So there we have my make up clear out! Is anyone else as bad at hoarding products as me?! I don’t know what it is about beauty items, but unless they have ran out I just can’t seem to say goodbye! On the plus side, I am now all ready to set up my dressing table in my new house, so keep an eye out for my beauty storage posts that are coming your way! #twolittleowls

Review: Battle of the Avon Liquid Liners

A: Like most beauty bloggers, I am an avid liquid liner wearer – but I am still seeking my perfect product. I liked the They’re Real liner from Benefit, and W7’s liquid liner is one of my faves – but they just aren’t quite right. So when I spotted these in my Avon catalogue, I decided to give them a go because I hadn’t tried a ‘pen’ liner before.

The Super Extend Liquid Eye Liner is currently available on the Avon website for £3.75, and I would highly recommend it. The formula is opaque and super smudge resistant, meaning it easily lasts all day. The flexible but fine nib means you can be really precise and create really smooth wings, and wing tips but it also lends itself to being applied ‘flatly’, creating a thicker and bolder line. In all honesty, it isn’t the easiest thing in the world to remove, it comes off best with a cleansing balm – but this isn’t an issue for me because you can’t have both long lasting and easy to remove.

The Mega Effects Liquid Eyeliner is priced at £3 online, which is super cheap. This is more like a felt tip, and has a slanted nip allowing you to easily create different looks. The line it creates isn’t as solid as the Super Extend Liner and does need a little more filling in – but the finished look is just as good. This one is also a lot easier to remove, but obviously isn’t as resistant to smudging. It has also not taken many uses to start drying out, I’m talking less than 10.

Comparing the two liners next to one another, you can easily see the difference between the pigmentation and the quality of the Super Extend. Although the formulas are similar, the Super Extend is a lot heavier – which is a plus for me but maybe not for others. I do like the shape of the Mega Effects nib – and how easy it is to create different looks, but the point could be a lot finer for precision, it’s a little clumsy. If were to recommend one, it’s would obviously be the Super Extend, I think I may have found my HG liquid liner, and it’s super cheap!!

Have any of you tried these and had a different experience? #twolittleowlsblog

Februarys Empties 2015

C: After a mixture of beauty related Christmas presents and January sales shopping, I decided it was finally time to sort through my stash. This has resulted in me throwing away several items because they have been opened too long, and in using up the many samples I have floating about from subscription boxes etc. All in all, this has resulted in a lot of empties this month! So here we go!

photo(35)

1. Lush Ultrabland Cleanser – one of my current skincare essentials! I won’t talk too much about this as we reviewed it here, but I absolutely loved it. If you have sensitive or problem skin then you need to check it out!

Repurchase? Yes once I have used up some of my stash!

2. Merumaya Iconic Youth Serum & Melting Cleansing Balm – two samples from one of my You Beauty boxes I believe. I only got one use out of each sample, so I cannot really comment on its skincare effects. However, both smelt amazing and I did not react badly to them (I have sensitive skin).

Repurchase? I shall definitely be doing a little research into the brand.

3. Yardley Uplifting Daisy Body Lotion – another You Beauty sample. I wasn’t that eager to try this out, and to me Yardley is an old person brand that my nan uses! However, I am happy to admit when I am wrong! This smelt amazing and did a super job of moisturising my stupidly dry skin.

Repurchase? Yes if I didn’t have about 20 body butters/lotions to use up first!

4. Mac Prep + Prime – another product we have previously reviewed here

Repurchase? Hella yeah.

5. Rimmel Nail Polish 500 Disco Ball – I bloody love this nail polish but it has gone gloopy. I have had it for well over two years though so I cannot complain! It is super glittery, easy to apply (but not remove unfortunately) and lasts a long time. Perfect.

Repurchase? If they still do it, I would happily repurchase.

6. Avon Glimmerstick Eye Liner in Blackened Night – I bought this ages ago and then kind of forgot about it, but now I love these! They aren’t too glittery so you can get away with wearing them every day, they are super black and easy to apply. For the price you can’t complain!

Repurchase? I already have another!

7. Aromatherapy Associates Revive Body Gel – now I received this in my first Birchbox, and even though I love the smell I still don’t understand what the point of it is. Like seriously, it says apply to problem areas such as thighs, feet etc but doesn’t actually say what for. So now its going in the bin. So if anyone knows what its for please do tell me!

Repurchase? Nah!

Well, that was a long empties post today! What do you think to the products I have mentioned? Have you tried any of them? Let us know! #twolittleowls
