Chloe’s Make-Up Wishlist!

C: Doing up a house is apparently a very expensive hobby, so all of my pennies have been spent on skirting boards and new kitchens rather than new make-up – resulting in quite a hefty make up lust list! So I thought I would share my wishlist with you guys! Let me know any opinions and whether the items I have picked are worthy of my saved up pennies!

photo 5

Nars Sheer Glow Foundation – every beauty blogger and their mother raves about this foundation and I still haven’t had the chance to try it! I have ordered a sample as there are no Nars stockists where I live and can’t cope with potentially spending over £30 on a useless product! I need a new foundation ready for gingers wedding next year though, so I am hoping this will be the one.

photo 4-6

Nars Creamy Concealer – same as above… would be ridiculous to get a new foundation and not try a concealer at the same time right? I don’t get too many spots, but I always have blemishes that need covering and pregnancy has resulted in some extra dark circles under my eyes that could do with some Nars magic.

photo 2-25

Anything by Tarte Cosmetics – I have seen some beautiful reviews of Tarte eyeshadow palettes and I really want to try one! I can’t decide which yet though, so if you have a recommendation please do let me know!

photo 3-12

Soap & Glory DIY Brow Bar – my beloved Elf Eyebrow Kit is slowly but surely running out and I need a replacement (boo ELF closing down its UK site!). I love S&G and have never tried a product I don’t like so I think this will be my next purchase to sort out my brows!

photo 1-24

NYX Lip creams or Butters – another brand I have seen everywhere and I am desperate to try! They seem such good value for money and so pretty… I so do not need any more lip products but that doesn’t mean I can’t want them eh?

So there’s the main make up items I am lusting after, obviously the mental list is much longer but I can’t seem too greedy now can I? Have any of you guys tried these products or do you have any other recommendations? #twolittleowls

Chloe’s Current Make up Base!

C: Since starting this blog, my love for make up/beauty products has got a little crazy… meaning I have a large collection of make up and items tend to get forgotten about. So recently I decided to have a little make up shake up and I have re fell in love with several products and changed my every day make up a little. I personally love seeing what base products people are using (mainly as an excuse to buy more), so thought I would share my current favourites with you!

photo 4(11)

Mac Matchmaster Foundation in 1.0 – this rarely changes as my favourite foundation, just because it is the one foundation I have found that completely matches my skin colour but doesn’t make me look like a ghost! It is true love and I will continue to repurchase this until I am old and grey or Mac stop making it. Whichever comes first.

Benefit Boi-ing Concealer in Shade 1 – another old favourite that until recently I had forgotten about. I always like trying new concealers but in the end I always return to this. It literally covers everything and anything and lasts all day. You hardly need any product, so 3g of this lasts ages!

Soap & Glory Kick Ass Instant Retouch Pressed Powder – I won’t go on about this as I reviewed it here – but this goes perfectly with my Mac foundation. I buff it in with my RT Buffing Brush and together this duo makes my skin look flawless! It gets rid of any telltale foundation marks and keeps shine at bay all day.

So there are my make up base essentials! Any of you guys use these products? Or have any recommendations on what I should try next? #twolittleowls

Annie’s May favourites

20140531-174618-63978059.jpg
A: Following Chloe’s May Favourites, it’s now my turn to show you what I’ve been loving this month.

My latest Yankee Candle purchase, this is more of a lifestyle choice but I LOVE candles and have them burning all the time. I’ve had a super stressful time since my holiday with exams and study but this has helped keep me calm. It’s Yankee Candle’s Wild Rose. Rose is one of my favourite scents – it reminds me of summer and it’s just so floral and pretty so this candle always puts me in a happy place – and you can never go wrong with a Yankee Candle. I got this from a local outlet too, so it was a bargain at £6.98.

My next favourite is this Avon corrector palette. I mentioned this in a haul post back in April but I haven’t had chance to review it yet. Quite simply, it’s brilliant. It has four different colour concealers which cover all of your cover up needs. I have really spot prone skin, so I need a good balance of concealers at all times. I have used the yellow one the most, as you can probably see – because it reduces redness. The orange is for dark circles, the pink is to act as a highlighter and the beige is a standard concealer. The palette comes with a small concealer brush which fits in the compact nicely and has a sturdy lid which isn’t likely to break easily. The consistency of the products are all the same and apply really well, without being clumpy or too drying but it is still long lasting. The only thing that would make this perfect would be to have a mirror on the inside of the lid. It was in a flash sale when I purchased it for £6.00 but you can buy it here for £10.50.

The next product, I have reviewed briefly before. It’s The Body Shop’s Tea Tree Facial Wash. I have been using this for a month now and I have fallen in love. Tea Tree has natural healing abilities so it’s perfect for those pesky blemishes. I use it morning and night, before applying and after removing my make up. It smells lovely although it does smell strongly of erm… tea tree. It lathers really well when you massage it into your face, and washes off easily, and it’s worked wonders for my pores! I did expect it to be drying but it isn’t at all, it’s cleansing and soothing. I do have sensitive skin but it hasn’t affected it in a bad way and my face feels super clean after I’ve used it. You can find it here for £5.00. Bargain!

Okay I’ve saved the best till last. I was lucky enough to receive this MAC lipstick for my birthday in matte Taupe. I can’t tell you how much I love this. The colour is beautiful and so wearable, although I obviously save it for special occasions! It’s super long lasting and has a really creamy texture, which is unusual for such a matte colour. Matte lipstick is my favourite and I have bought quite a lot (too many!!) but this is the best consistency by far. All I can say is if you haven’t got a MAC lipstick already, you should definitely treat yourself. You won’t regret it, they are little beauties.

What have been your favourites this month? #twolittleowls

Make up look: everyday

A: so following Chloe’s make up look, I thought I had better post mine (you can find hers here). Although we are both super pale, we have different skin types so our routine make up is fairly different from one another.

20140511-151313.jpg

So here’s my super freckly face, I don’t normally look this orange but I’ve just got back from a holiday in 35 degree heat and surprisingly, I don’t tan – I just turn into an Oompa Loompa.

I’ve taken two photos for my make up steps, the first one is what I use on my face and the second is eyes and lips.

20140511-151734.jpg

20140511-153200.jpg

So firstly I use a primer, at the moment I’m using benefit’s stay don’t stray. This is really good to use as just a concealer if you’re in a rush (or feeling lazy), and a primer. I use this under my eyes an on my t-zone to help cover those pesky blemishes.
I then use Avon’s corrector palette. This is an amazing product because it has all the concealers you need in one compact. I use the yellow to tone down any redness and the pink and brown to brighten dull areas.
After this, I move onto a bb cream. This is a MODELco one and I bought it from Birchbox a few weeks ago. It’s good for every day use because it isn’t really heavy so doesn’t block pores, but you can build it up really easily if you need to. I use my mac foundation brush to apply.

After the base is applied, I move onto my eyes by using Avon’s glimmerstick diamonds in black ice. This is another good product from Avon, it’s a really pigmented colour and lasts all day. I apply it to my eyelids and then use a liquid liner to add flicks, this one is from a brand called W7 and it’s from a local beauty shop. I’m really particular with liquid liners but I love these as the brush is really stiff and allows to create really fine lines. I then use benefit’s They’re Real mascara. I don’t need to rave about this because we all know how amazing it is, it’s a must have beauty product. After my mascara is dry I add some of the glimmerstick eyeliner pencil along my lower lashes.
I then move onto contouring, using bareMinerals warmth powder. I always pull a stupid face when I contour, a bit like Dori off of Finding Nemo? Because this makes it easier to define your cheekbones. And it’s pretty funny. I use Chella’s Ivory Lace Highlighter on my cheekbones, which I need a lot of at the moment because my skin is so orange (and matches my hair – not cool). I use an e.l.f blusher in rose tea once I’ve finished contouring.

Finally I use bareMinerals Mineral Veil to set my make up and tone down any shiny parts with their Flawless Face brush. I then add a nude lipstick, my favourite at the moment is the Lasting Finish range by Kate Moss for Rimmel in shade 03, Chloe bought me this for my birthday and it’s really long lasting and smells lovely!

We would love some feedback on these features as it isn’t something we have done before, and it’s pretty scary putting a massive picture of our faces on the Internet for all to scrutinise. We are thinking about a going out face of the day post, should we go for it? #twolittleowls

E.L.F – review

A & C: We gave you a quick review of our E.L.F delivery last week because we were so impressed by its speediness! But now it’s time for a more detailed review of the individual products.

image

A: Okay, so I ordered these goodies…

1. Eyebrow Lifter and Filler in Ivory/Light £3.75 – the lifter is really good on this to use as a highlighter too, and it comes with its own sharpener in the lid, which is really handy! But I have found the colour a little harsh for my tone, I’ve got such fair eyebrows so it is really difficult to find a good colour

2. Lipstick in Voodo £1.50 – this is such a nice colour, a deep pink which is perfect for dressing up your look, and it’s a bargain – or practically free as Chloe would say!

3. Blush in Blushing Rose £3.75 – perfect colour for every day wear, when you just need a bit of an extra blush in your cheeks. It comes in a really good compact case that has a mirror too! The only thing I would say though is that a blusher brush would have finished it off.

4. Studio Matte Lip Colour in Praline £3.75 – favourite product! This particular colour is a really rich pinky/brown shade and is ideal for just wearing for work, or for going out. It’s a moisturiser too, so it doesn’t dry your lips out – just what we all need this time of the year!

General review: cheap, versatile products and definitely worth buying – lip products seem to be the best! But make sure you google colour swatches as the colours on the site arent true to life!!

C: So I ordered these:

1.Studio Eyebrow Kit in “Dark” £3.75 – the formula is lovely and smooth, and I love the idea of the setting powder (similar to Benefits Browzings). I found the colour was perfect for me, and it wasn’t too pigmented. So you could build it up or have a more natural look, it also lasted all day!

2. Complete Coverage Concealer in “Light” £3.75 – I really liked the 4 colours, making it easier to match your skin colour (the lighter ones made great under eye highlighters!) and it gave very good coverage. However, I did not find that it lasted all day, I did have to re-apply a couple of hours later.

3. High Definition Powder in “Translucent” £6 – This was the only product that I was not keen on. I have very dry skin but like to use a powder to set my foundation. I found this very drying, so would probably be perfect for someone with very oily skin? It did however last all day which I was pleased with, it just didn’t suit my skin type!

Overall I was very pleased with my products, particularly for the price! The eyebrow kit was my definite favourite though (and who doesn’t want perfect eyebrows!). They also currently have free shipping on orders over £15 so I’m considering another order to get some lipsticks! #twolittleowlsblog

A good post day!

C & A: We got our previously mentioned E.L.F Comestics in the post today, which we were very excited about! We love post! So we thought we would share some pictures and our first impressions!

Image

We placed our order on Tuesday night and it was delivered this morning, which we thought was really quick delivery! The packaging all co-ordinates really well and is appropriate for the product inside – no spillages or accidents during delivery! We were really pleased with all our items, the colours we picked were lovely but we would recommend googling the colours/items as the swatches that are online are not very accurate. Once we have tested them all out, we will do a more detailed review, but first impressions are great! I was really pleased with my powder and concealers, they blend really well but I dont know yet how long they last, and Annie was really pleased with her lipstick colours and formulas. Remember there is currently a 40% off sale that we mentioned in our previous post here. #twolittleowlsblog
