Our Favourites from the GQ Awards

A & C: We love a good awards ceremony, and last night the GQ Men of the Year Awards was no exception. Red carpets, shimmery dresses and flawless hair and make up – the ladies really stole the show. Here are our favourites;

Sheridan Smith suits this cute 70’s retro look perfectly. A gorgeous lace panel smock dress with nude heels and statement clutch.

Model Jourdan Dunn wore a sheer Zuhair Murad gown, and no one can deny that this girl looks amazing. We aren’t sure we would go for the sheer evening dress look ourselves…(still working off that pesky Christmas weight in September is acceptable right?) …but if we looked as hot as she did we’d be wearing them all the time.

Rita Ora has outdone herself again with this beaded slashed-to-the-thigh dress. Another Zuhair Murad creation with a strong shoulder and jewels to die for. 100 smokey-eye points to your make-up artist too Rita.

Amber and Yasmin Le Bon both looked super-stylish, but Amber’s cream embroidered full length dress was our favourite. We love that she’s teamed it with huge chandelier earrings and sweeping curled hair. Very sophisticated.

We had to include a few of the guys too, and Johnny Depp looked as cool as ever with his all-black suit and shirt combo and trademark sunglasses.

These two are some of our favourites, Bradley with his manly stubble and open necked shirt made all the girls swoon. And Jonah look dapper in his tux – is that a knitted tie we spy? A guy after our own hearts.

The Cape Trend

A: The Cape Trend is going to be massive this Spring, they are everywhere and the celebs are loving them too – Kelly Osbourne and Kate Hudson both wore beautiful cape dresses at the Oscar Awards last week, check out our post with pictures of their dresses here.

I’ve trawled the world wide web to give you some of my favourite cape trends, which are a little bit more affordable than the celeb versions…

This Miss Selfridge chiffon top would be a perfect addition to any wardrobe, it can be dressed up with a skirt, heels and some statement jewels, or dressed down with skinnies.

There are so many cape jackets and coats, but this Mango Military version was my favourite. The military embellishments make it a little more unique compared to other capes – and its in the sale at ASOS for £67.50!

This cape blouse from boohoo is ideal for spring – with its pretty pastels it can be teamed with anything, and can be worn buttoned up or left open for two different looks.

This is a little more pricey but it is DKNY and its dress perfection. The cheapest I could find it was £259 – but it’s totally worth it!

The Oscars 2014: Best Dressed Awards!

A & C: As you are all aware we both absolutely love any excuse to dress up, wearing something sparkly and look pretty! Unfortunately such chances do not come about for us often, so we have to be satisfied with looking at famous, beautiful people at awards ceremonies and this year the Oscars did not disappoint! So we thought we would share our favourite outfits/photos with you!

First of all, what more could you want than this:

And poor Liza Minnelli was stuck at the back because she was too short – we laughed so much at the photos bless her.

Anyway, getting distracted. Here are our absolute favourite outfits:

oscars 2

Kate Hudson wore this beautiful Atelier Versace dress, accessorized with a beaded cape and sweeping blonde locks.

Emma Watson always wears a high end label and this Vera Wang sparkly dress did not disappoint us at all. Her vintage style hair and make-up finished the look perfectly.

Kelly Osbourne looked amazing and pulled off yet another cape perfectly (they were everywhere at the Oscars!) with this white Badgley Mischka dress.

However, you can’t like everything and as much as we love Pharrell, we did not enjoy his latest red carpet outfit.

Pharrell Williams, Helen Lasichanh

A shame as he usually looks so good! But isn’t it a bit of a fashion sin to cut up a Lanvin suit? #twolittleowls

BRIT Awards 2014

A & C: Another awards bash means another chance for us to lust over beautiful outfits and their owners. Just like last year, we think our Brit Award invitations may have been lost in the post again so we had to settle with staying in with a take away (and wine, obviously) and tuning in to the television.

Here are just a few of our favourite ensembles of the evening…

Fearne looked super stylish in her metallic Prada dress. Silvers, golds and bronzes are so on trend at the minute and yet again she has perfected the look.

Ella Eyre had a costume change for her performance with Rudimental and Bastille (which was AMAZING!) but this leopard print number definitely won, Annie has a serious obsession with anything leopard print and we are both SO jealous of her amazing hair!

Peaches Geldof has yet again pulled of the vintage look flawlessly with this on trend off-the-shoulder crop top, full leather skirt and flawless hair and make-up.

Pharrell Williams was obviously going to look amazing, but this glittery Lanvin suit makes us both love him even more!

Lily Allen’s House of Holland dress was definitely a contender for stealing the show. Sequins, glitter and yellow dip-dyed ponytails, what more could a girl want?!

Lorde kept to her signature look with this full length black beaded dress, purple lipstick and big hair. This is a look she should stick to; it suits her so much and makes us 100% jealous.

The Arctic Monkeys stuck to their roots with their look at the Awards, we love the retro feel they go for, and our particular favourite was drummer Matt Helder’s tartan suit jacket. Good choice Matt!

We knew Beyonce would amaze and she did not disappoint. This stunning Vrettos Vrettakos couture gown looked beyond amazing and was completely covered in emerald sequins. All Hail Queen B.

The Grammys 2014

A&C: We all like to have a look at what the celebs are wearing so we decided to show your our favourite and not so favourite outfits from the Grammys this year!

So we have to admit, we aren’t sure of the inspiration behind these three outfits…

Madonna’s androgynous look isn’t her best, don’t get us wrong we are all for tailored suits BUT with some feminine accessories and styling!

Paris Hilton looks like she’s ready to walk down the aisle, not the red carpet! We like that you’ve toned down on the trashiness but maybe this was a step too far…

And Lorde, new girl on the block. We LOVE your music but were you trying to channel Bellatrix Lestrange? The make-up is gorgeous, statement lips with a natural complexion is so on trend right now but the witch costume is not!

But we did lovee these three…

We are not usually a big Taylor Swift fan, but her dress was elegant (and glittery) and fitted beautifully. Beyonce is… Beyonce, no comments needed! And Carey Mulligan shows us all how to do chic and stylish in this androgynous yet still feminine outfit.

And the winner is..

Alexa Chung!

She looked as on trend and lovely as ever in this feminine and amazing dress! The simple hair and red lipstick finished the look and made the whole outfit look more sophisticated.
