Review: Makeup Revolution Blush Palette in Golden Sugar

C: If you guys are regular readers, you may have noticed that Annie treated me to this amazing blush palette for my birthday! She knows how much I love a good palette, and this one certainly didn’t disappoint! I hate opening new things… because then they aren’t new anymore? But I have finally given in and busted this bad boy out so thought it was definitely time for a review!

Firstly lets discuss the packaging, the palette itself is a black shiny case which is pretty sturdy and includes a massive mirror! This gets bonus points from me as its perfect for travelling and applying on the go – you could just take this on holiday and have all the blushes/highlights you could need! Plus its just beautiful really isn’t it? Shiny make up in a palette = heaven to me.

As you can tell from the swatches, all of the blushes are really pigmented and pretty finely milled for such a bargain brand – although we all know Makeup Revolution don’t often disappoint on quality I was still impressed by these! There are 7 shimmery shades and one matte colour on the bottom right – this is pretty good for contouring actually, as although it looks quite orange in the swatch (it is the top colour) if you use it lightly it gives off a lovely colour and blends easily.

The rest of the colours are equally as easy to blend, meaning you can use as little as you like for a natural flush or build the colours up slightly for a more pigmented and dramatic look without looking like a clown – although a heavy hand is not recommended! They also lasted all day on me – although I do use a primer and setting powder so I wouldn’t know how well they last without these!

So what do you guys think of this palette? Have you already tried it or are you thinking of investing? I absolutely love having so many different options in one little palette, I can’t see myself getting bored of these bad boys any time soon! #twolittleowls

Review: Avon Face Pearls

C: whilst at Annie’s a couple of weeks ago I was having a busy afternoon of painting my nails and drinking fruit tea… and Annie got her Avon book delivered. So clearly I needed to add a few things to the order, one of which was these Face Pearls! I have always wanted one of these since being super young, as I remember my cousin using some and being jealous that I wasn’t old enough to wear them! So since they were on offer I went for it!

photo 1(31)

I absolutely adore the little pot that it comes in, looks way more high end than £5 from Avon! And the little pearls are adorable. I am clearly weird… but they make me way too happy!

To use all I did was swirl my blusher brush in the pot and then apply like a normal blusher. I really love the colour, as I don’t use super bright blushers (I am too pale!) and these give a beautiful wash of natural blusherness. Yes that’s a word. The only thing I would say is to make sure you don’t get too much on your brush at once, as the first time I tried I was clearly over enthusiastic with my swirling!

It lasts all day, although if I am going out in the evening I apply a little top up. L even said I looked nice whilst wearing this blush, which almost never happens – so they must be good!

Have any of you guys tried these Avon Face Pearls? Or similar from another brand? #twolittleowls

Review: Sunkissed Metallic Bronze Blush from P.S. Love…

A: This is another purchase I made during my Primark trip a few weeks ago (see what else I been buying here!), and something I have been really impressed by.

Blushers and bronzers are something that I have always struggled with because of my super ginger face, and I can’t really get on with using them in the traditional sense. I actually end up using bronzers as blushers, so this is a perfect product for me! I was a little worried it would be too dark for my skintone when I first picked it up, but when I mix all of the colours together I can quite easily create the perfect shade for my skin – so I’m guessing this would be suitable for most skin tones!

I’ve tried to show swatches of each of the three colours in the product, the dark brown, the gold and the white. When they are combined they create such a lovely iridescent shade which catches the light perfectly when it’s applied to cheekbones. It’s super pigmented too, and lasts all day. And I like the packaging too, although a mirror in the lid would be nice – I’m always a fan of that. This was just £2.50, and I think it will stay in my go to daily make up throughout the year because you can easily alter the tone to suit your skin depending on if you have a tan or not (or freckles in my case).

Review and Swatches: Make Up Revolution Triple Baked Blusher

A: Chloe got me this amazing baked blusher for Christmas and I knew I’d have to show you it as soon as I opened it on Christmas Day.

First of all, the packaging is adorable. I love cardboard packaging and this is gold and pink – what’s not to like!
Chloe chose the colour Peachy Keen for me, which is perfect for my skin tone. I definitely suit orange/coral and rose based blushers, they go really well with my complexion – I’m super pale but I have a warm rather than a cool tone. She knows me so well!
There’s two colours in this, which work really well on their own – as you can see from the swatches, but also look beautiful when blended. The orange based blush has larger gold chunks of glitter but the pink just has a shimmer. The pigmentation is amazing, and the colour pay off is impressive. It also lasts all day, something I always look for in a blusher. And because of the two different colours included, it can also be used as a highlighter, and used all year round! This is a particular bonus for me, although I don’t get an amazing tan (pesky ginger genes), I do get super freckly as soon as step out into any sunlight, so my make up changes throughout the year with the weather, but I know that this will see me right through. Make Up Revolution is a pretty cheap brand (not calling Chloe cheap – she knows I love a bargain as much she does), but this really is such a good quality product for the price range of Make Up Revolutions products. I haven’t actually used anything else from them, but I will certainly be on the look out for more because I really do love this.

A Review and Swatches: Daniel Sandler Watercolour Blush in Passion

image1

A: I bought this a couple of weeks ago in the Feel Unique sale, and was so excited because I’ve been lusting after Daniel Sandler’s products since I saw them on Essie Buttons blog a few months ago (he created a custom colour especially for Essie, we were SO jel – click here to see it on her blog).

His watercolour blush’s are made from a silicon-based, oil free formulation which “doesn’t clog pores and suits every skin type.” The silicone means that its virtually rub-off proof and water-resistant – perfect for long-lasting wear. It’s a Multi-award winning blusher and contains Vitamin E and Jojoba to enhance application and nourish skin, which makes it even better. It did take me a while to decide on a shade because there are SO many beautiful ones. I went with Passion though and I am so happy I did because it suits my skin tone perfectly. It is a deep-rose pink with an almost coral hue, and it also has silver and gold highlights and a shimmery pigmentation – perfect.

Because it is a water based blush, it is super blend-able which is perfect for me as I don’t wear foundation – just BB cream and powder because I have an insane amount of freckles. I haven’t ever used water based products on my cheeks before but I am now a total convert. You can build up the colour as much as you like, but still maintain a natural look (i.e not look like a 5 year old who has found her Mum’s blusher). I just add a small amount to the back of my hand and then use my fingers to blend it onto my cheeks.

This cost me £11.60 in the sale, but they are normally £15 which is still a good price because I think it will last me ages -you don’t need much at all to achieve a good colour on your cheeks. My only problem is that now I want to buy more shades, because I love this one so much. I don’t know if I was super lucky with my choice because it suits my skin tone so much, or if they are all as lovely as this but I definitely want to find out. You can see the Daniel Sandler range on his website here. We have so much love for all of his products and can’t wait to try out more!

Review: Soap & Glory Peach Party

C: I bought this a few months ago, but it has taken a bit of practice before I felt I could review this product properly! So here goes…

photo 1-3

photo 2-5

So first of all… as with all S&G products the packaging is lovely. The case is really sturdy so it has never opened in my make up bag, and it has a handy mirror in the lid so you can apply it on the go. And then, just look at those colours! It contains a brown, a white, a pale peach and a pale pink colour which all blend together into an amazing peachy shimmer.

When I first tried this I had already done my contouring/highlighting and then used this as a blusher… epic fail. I looked like an orange clown and I took it straight off feeling very disappointed. It put me off using it for a while but then a couple of weeks later I couldn’t be bothered to contour and just applied this as a blusher. If you swirl your blusher brush across all of the colours and dust it lightly on your cheeks it gives you the most perfect summery glow. I am in love.

It really suits my skin colour (so pale I look blue…) but I think it would also be amazing on darker skin tones due to the bronzing aspect of the blusher brick. It lasts all day, and I have been using this for the past 2 months on an almost daily basis and theres hardly a dint in it! For me this is the perfect Summer look!

Have any of you guys tried this? S&G have impressed me as they always managed too, I definitely need to try some more of their make up. Any recommendations #twolittleowlsblog

Chloe’s May beauty and fashion wish list

C: Firstly I would like to apologise for the lack of post yesterday, I know we usually post every day but I have not been able too whilst Annie has been away – but she is back on Friday! Yay! So lets crack on with it… my May (yes, May!) wish list!

photo-10

Vans Chauffette shoes in pale blue (available here) for £45. I love Vans, and they are the only trainer type shoes I ever wear. I think these will be the perfect pair for Summer! I could’t find a good picture of them but these are pale blue with white polka dots!

Topshop Cream Blushes are only £7 and I have never used a cream blush before so I think these bargains will be the perfect place to start! I haven’t decided on a colour yet, so if anyone has any recommendations please do let me know!

This crop top is from New Look and is only £14.99. If you regularly read our blog you will know I love anything tartan/checked so this is right up my street! Would look amazing with my denim, high waisted shorts if it ever gets warm!

Last but certainly not least is this Mac lipstick (Creme Cup) £15. Annie got a Mac lipstick for her birthday and I was super duper jealous. I also have a tendency to buy bright, fun lipsticks and never any that are suitable for every day wear, so after reading several reviews I have picked this one as my next purchase!

What are you guys lusting after this month? Let us know! #twolittleowlsblog
