Blogmas 2014 Day 22- What does the festive season mean to you?

What does the festive season mean to you?

A: To me, Christmas is all about family. I am really lucky because all of my family live within a 10 minute drive from one another. This means that I get to see every single one of them over the Christmas period, and eat loads of yummy food with them! We each go to each others house for Christmas every year, so my Mum’s side of the family come to ours for a day, we go to theirs for a day, and the same with my Dad’s family. This normally means we have to start the festivities a little early to fit everyone in – especially now we all have partners and their families to think about, but it also means they go on for longer 🙂

C: Similarly to Annie the festive season is all about seeing family and friends. I love getting to see my family even more than usual whilst spending the day spoiling them with gifts and eating lots of yummy food. I also love Christmas time as it means that lots of friends come back who have moved away after uni etc to see their families and I get to see them too! My job also means that I often work over the Christmas period, but I am used to that now and making Christmas special for other people makes me very happy too!

Blogmas 2014 – Day 21! Sharing Our Christmas Day Plans

Share your day with us

C: I am guessing this means Christmas day plans? Oh well, that is what I am going to tell you about anyway! This year, L and I are staying at home on Christmas Eve (I am picking him up from town when I finish work, so I am guessing he will have had too many egg nogs). We live next door to L’s parents so after opening ours to each other we will go straight there (L’s dad really loves it when I wake them all up early on Christmas day) and do presents/breakfast with them before they drive to Sheffield to see the rest of their family. We are then going to my parentals at about 10 to see my Aunties and Uncles before we do our family presents. We will then have Christmas Dinner and take the obligatory photo of my dad with all the Party Popper streamers on his head (not sure why we do this, obviously a tradition started when I was young and immature). In the evening we will then both be going over to Jim and Annies to do presents/have drinks with our friends! Literally cannot wait!

A: This year my boyfriend and I are heading to my Aunt and Uncles’s first thing. My whole family will be there and my Auntie makes homemade sausage rolls, we drink Bucks Fizz and give our presents out. It’s
Something we’ve done every year since I can remember and it just sums up Christmas for me. For lunch, we are heading to Jim’s dads. His sister is making lunch, and then we will watch DVDs for the rest of the day. In the evening, as Chloe said they are coming to ours with the rest of friends so we can drink snowballs and chill!

Blogmas 2014 – Day 20! A Christmas Day make up look

A Christmas day makeup look

C: now for me Christmas Day is all about looking festive, but normally I don’t do my make up until after presents because everyone knows I love it so buy me some treats to try out! But… I’m thinking this year I’m going to obviously go for my dark smokey eye and a festive bright lip! So here is my practice run:

Our nephew was so excited about Christmas, so we gave him one of his presents early on Christmas eve – a Buzz Lightyear costume!

And a photo of my boyfriend when we had a Jamaican themed Boxing Day, and my cousins thought he’d look better with false lashes and lipstick. It worryingly suited him!

And one from this year, my boyfriend and I at the Winter Wonderland in Nottingham sipping on mulled wine 🙂

Blogmas 2014 Day 16 – Favourite Christmas Music

Favourite Christmas music

A & C: Ahh we love Christmas songs! So we are going to do joint answers to this one, as we obviously will end up picking the same!

2. Christmas Carols. Preferably with fairy lights and candles involved. It’s just so lovely and cosy 🙂

3. The Grinch Soundtrack. We watched this last week and Annie has been singing ‘You’re a mean one, Mr Grinch’ ever since.

Blogmas 2014 Day 14 – Share a Christmas Memory

Share a favourite Christmas memory

C: Although I absolutely love Christmas, it is all about children at Christmas time. I used to be so overly excited and wanted it to be Christmas so bad, that my brothers and I used to spend the lead up to Christmas making lists of plans on how we could make time go quicker. But my one memory, that is super funny and my mother always reminds me of is that when I was little I used to wear my best nighty, and make my dad lay the duvet over me super neatly and tuck my teddy bear in bed with me on Christmas Eve night because… I thought that if I looked cuter I would get more presents!!! Yes… I know. Learnt early ha! I honestly thought Santa would peep in and think.. what a lovely girl. I’ll give her an extra prezzie! Clearly this didn’t work, but it was worth a try!

A: My favourite Christmas memory is all the Christmases when I was little. My brother and I used to wake up super early (I still do now because I get so over-excited about Santa coming, I can hardly sleep on Christmas eve and I’m 24!!), and we’d know Santa had been because our Santa sacks would be brimming with pressies. We used drag them into our Mum and Dad’s room and sit on the end of the bed unwrapping to our heart’s content. I’d get the shakes and my Mum would tell me to take a break to stop me from getting too excited. To be honest i still do that too…

Blogmas 2014 Day 13 – Favourite Christmas TV episodes

Favourite Christmas TV episodes

Christmas TV is always amazing/horrendous – we can’t decide which!

C: I can’t think of any particular episodes, so I am just going to tell you my favourite programmes in general to watch! I have a bad memory… so sorry! I think Christmas is all about watching the classics, such as the Vicar of Dibley, Father Ted, Only Fools and Horses and… The Royal Family. I kind of hate the Royal Family (not the real ones… enjoy those a lot, espesh ol’ Phillip) but L makes me watch it every year and he finds it hilarious. So it is a now tradition for me to moan about it and for him to make me watch it anyway. Seeing him laughing so much at it is worth it though, apart from when he says it is like my family. No idea what he is implying there.

A: My boyfirends family watch the entire box set of Father Ted every Christmas. I literally can’t stand watching it anymore – it drives me crazy! Other than that, we don’t watch anything year on year, but one of our favourite things to do is watch all of the dvd’s we got as presents. This always happens – last year is was The Hangover trilogy and Alpha Papa – which are both super funny. To be honest though, I can pretty much find anything funny if I watch it with my bf – he has the weirdest/loudest/most infectious laugh ever.
