Christmas Nails

A: It’s only 8 sleeps to go until Santa comes!!!! In case you hadn’t already guessed, we are both so super excited for Christmas. And Christmas nails are always a must. Chloe posted about hers here, and so I thought it was time to show you mine.

I used three polishes, The Body Shop clear as a base/top coat, the Colour Club Gala’s Gems nail polish, and the Barry M Limited Edition silver glitter polish (probably the best glitter polish in the world). I also used some cute silver snowflakes which I bought off eBay last year for a couple of pounds.

After the usual nail prep, I used the base coat and then applied the blue polish as a colour base (this only takes one coat – not sure if all of Colour Club’s polishes are this good but this one is super pigmented). After this was dry, I used the snowflake stickers on my little finger and middle finger nails. I then added the Barry M glitter to my middle finger nail. I then added my top coat.

I’ve included a close up of the glitter, to show you how pretty it really is. This is amazingly just one coat!! There are other companies which do a similar polish but because this one was  a Limited Edition last year, it isn’t available anymore 😦

We’d love to see some of your Christmassy nails! #twolittleowlsblog

The Clothes Show Live 2014

A: On Sunday, my friend Helen and I did something super exciting –  we traveled all the way to Birmingham to go the The Clothes Show at the NEC! Now, I’m sure you’re all fully aware that I love clothes. New, old, vintage, flowery, velvety, glittery… the list goes on. So I was pretty overwhelmed when we arrived (obvs after running to find the loo cause I was desp). For those of you that have never been, The Clothes Show takes up 10 (?!) halls of the NEC, and has different areas of shopping; the Designer Outlet, Hair & Beauty, Boutique, Cheap & Chic and Vintage. As if that isn’t enough, there’s also different fashion shows happening all around the event, masterclasses, tutorials and of course, the main Fashion Show in the Fashion Theatre. We had tickets to the main event for 10 am, and arrived just in time to find our seats, get comfy and open our food stash (consisted of Skips and Jaffa cakes – the perfect way to make yourself feel better whilst watching super fit and healthy models fling themselves all over the catwalk). The show was introduced and presented by Rick Edwards and Jim Chapman (yay for vloggers!), and the first performance was from a girl called Bella Mac. She has the most amazing voice, I’ve searched all over the net for a video but can’t find one – but seriously guys keep your ears pinned back for her. Next was a ‘group’ called Stereo Kicks (I accidentally kept calling them Studio Kicks cause I had never heard of them lolz – sorry to any die hard fans out there), who were terrible (soz again to the fans…). I cannot stand boy bands, but the teeny-boppers obvs went cray for them. And then it was onto the main event, here’s a few photos I managed to take but they really don’t do the show justice. The clothes, the choreography, the music really was so amazing. If you even have a slight interest in fashion and ever get chance to see this show, you should go. I’ve seen it 3 times now over the space of nearly 10 years and it has stunned me every time.

Oh hai Jim Chapman.

Now the Clothes Show is also kinda famous for it’s Beauty goody bags. Most companies there offer them, and with the likes of Rimmel, Barry M, Fake Bake, W7, Model co…. and so many more showcasing, it’s really hard to choose. But I went for a Barry M goody bag, which cost me £10 and a W7 one – which were buy one get one free for £10. So here’s what I got!

Barry M

I won’t go through all of the details of each product because there was so many and this is already a pretty long post – but if you want to know about any of them, please just ask in the comments 🙂

p.s there was an extra lip bomb in the W7 bag – Chloe has already stolen it though.

Have any of you guys ever been to The Clothes Show Live? #twolittleowlsblog

Annie’s Summer Wishlist

A: So Summer has arrived and hopefully the Sun is going to stay for a while. I thought I’d put together a wish list of all the things I’m lusting after at the moment because I haven’t done one in a while.

Firstly, this Genie Lipstick from Barry M. I spotted this on The Oxford Owl’s blog and have been looking out for it ever since, she posts some really good product reviews – click here and check them out! Don’t worry – this isn’t green lipstick. Well, it is BUT is magically changes colour when it’s applied – to you ‘perfect personal shade of pink’. The formula adapts to the Alkali in your lips, to give you your own individual shade of lipstick. Clever hey?! It’s meant to be really long lasting too, so I’m looking forward to giving this a go! I’ve found it for £4.49 on the Barry M website here.

Next, I’m after a highlighter. I really want to try out the ‘dewey’ look and I think one of the best ways to achive it is with a cream highlighter. I know I’m pretty late to the game with this one, but as far as I can see, Benefit’s High Beam is going to be the best. If you have any other suggestions, please let me know!!

I’ve been looking for a midi-length skirt for a while now, and I think this navy spotted one by The Whitepepper at Topshop is perfect. I love the button through front panel and the way that it sits – high and on the waist. It’ll be perfect for those days that I want to cover up but still be summery. It’s £48 and can be found here.

Lastly, I am 100% going to be buying an ice-lolly mould this summer. I love making ice-lollies at home because you can make them exactly the way you want, and this Lollyring mould from Lakeland is adorable! You can make 6 rings in 3 different designs, and I know my nephews and niece will love making them. The set is £4.99 and you can buy it here.

What’re your Summer must haves? #twolittleowls

Spring Nail Colours!

C: as it’s officially Spring and it’s finally a little bit (emphasis on the little part) sunny we thought we would share with you our favourite colours to paint our nails this season!

20140408-121609.jpgSo starting from the left is Sally Hansens white nail varnish, an essential for any Spring time nail art, for painting on polka dots and flowers.

w7 nail polish in powder pearl, Essie in Where’s My Chauffeur, No7 in Stand Back and Models Own in Duck. Bright and pastel blues are the perfect Spring colours which allow your nails too make a statement when you haven’t had time to accessorise etc. We especially love the Models Own speckled egg nail polishes (Annie has the green coloured one) which we reviewed here.

Next up we have w7 in Sheer Lemon (amazing for the centre of flowers or for painting your toes ready for those new sandals) and Models Own in Grape. A pastel lilac is THE colour to have this summer so if you are thinking of investing in a new nail polish we would recommend this! I shall be doing a full review on this nail varnish soon so keep an eye out for that.

Finally we have BarryM in Shocking Pink and Essie in Snap Happy. I couldn’t manage a Spring nail post without having at least one pink and red colour in here. Bright pink is perfect for detracting attention away from other problems – my cuticles are currently horrendous from work and this coral red from Essie is the perfect small change to make from the darker reds we got used too this Winter if you aren’t ready for Spring just yet!

So what colours are you loving this Spring? If you would like some Spring nail art ideas please check out our recent post here, where we showed you buys how to re-create some simple but effective nail designs! #twolittleowlsblog
