Chloes April 2015 Empties

C: Hi guys! It is almost moving house time, which means… must. use. up. beauty. stash. Well, I have been trying anyway, so here is what I have finished using this month/what I thought about them.

photo(38)

Lush Dream Cream – an essential for any eczema sufferer, or lover of tattoos. We always have a pot of this in the house, to calm down sad skin or for post tattoo care. I think I am over my tattoo phase (mainly due to being a wimp), but L often still gets new ones and swears by this.

Repurchase? Always.

Batiste Dry Shampoo – Batiste isn’t my fav dry shampoo, but I always seem to still buy it? No idea why/probs cos it is always on offer. I suppose it gets the job done, I just prefer a coloured one so there is less of a grey tinge in my hair.

Repurchase? Realistically? Yes.

Soap & Glory Righteous Butter – one of my absolute favourite body butters. I love everything about this. The smell, the formula, how quickly it sinks in and how much it helps my dry skin.

Repurchase? I have about 3 more already!

Aromatherapy Associates Triple Rose Renewing Moisturiser – I got a sample of this free in a magazine (a great way to try out new skincare etc). It is very thick, which I am not used to as I usually use a gel/serum moisturiser but once I got used to this I actually really enjoyed using it. Plus I love anything that smells like rose!

Repurchase? Probs not, as I have too many to use up already!

No7 Beautiful Skin BB Cream – this was my fav BB cream, and then I started using the Rimmel one… and now I miss this one. So I may have to buy it again. They don’t do many colours, which was my only issue over winter as the lightest one is still too dark until I get a little Summer colour. But it is easy to apply, and makes your skin happy. Lovely.

Repurchase? Yes.

So there are my empties this month! Have any of you guys tried any of these products? Did you agree with my mini reviews? Let us know #twolittleowls

Fabric and Sewing Haul

C: so this morning we did our usual Saturday morning ting and went shopping! But instead of our usual sort of haul, we went fabric shopping instead! Annie is a super good sewer and I am super good at buying things ready made…. So we don’t normally do this sort of thing together! However, Annie found some amazing fabric that I NEEDED for curtains for my new house so we decided to go fabric shopping and then Annie is going to teach me to sew!

IMG_2211.JPG

This is the material we bought! The bee material is for my curtains and I’m in love with it. I love it too much to risk ruining so my mum is making me curtains out of this, but Annie is teaching me to make a cushion today.

The rest of the material is Annie’s which she is using for various projects that she will be sharing with you all soon!

IMG_2209.JPG

Here is the master at work! She is pro and just made a cushion in the 10 mins I have been writing this…. Mental! So anyway, let us know what you think of these prints and we will be posting the lovely things Annie has made soon, as well as my first attempt… Wish me luck! #twolittleowls

Review: Nivea In-Shower Moisturiser

C: Some of you guys may have seen my recent haul post, if not you can see it here, where I picked up some old favourites and some new things to try. One of which was the Nivea In-Shower Body Moisturiser which I had seen around a lot recently, and since suffering with preggo related super dry skin thought it was worth a try! So here is what I thought!

photo 1-23

Now the packaging isn’t exactly beautiful, but its functional and works well. No complaints there. The smell however… not sure if it’s my super human sense of smell (which is a lie according to Annies other half, no one has super human smell) but I hate it! I don’t even know what it smells like, and haven’t used any other Nivea products so I can’t compare it… I just aren’t keen. Its not particularly offensive though as once dressed and perfumed up you can’t smell it. So thats only a minor complaint too!

So on to its effectiveness. I love it! I apply it whilst in the shower, leave it on for a bit whilst I wash my face or something (it doesn’t say you have to leave it on, I just figured it might work more if you did) and then wash it off. It leaves your skin feeling silky smooth and moisturised. I personally still apply my body butter afterwards as yes, my skin really is that dry. But I would say people with normal skin wouldn’t need to at all. This has literally been a godsend. Before using it I still had horrid flaky, dry skin after using my usual body butter and this has completely got rid of it! Amazing!

Have any of you guys tried this? If so what did you think? Any other recommendations for super dry skin? #twolittleowls

Chloe’s Spring Wishlist!

C: It is super sunny outside at the moment, and although it isnt exactly warm yet it is making me very excited for the coming Summer! So I thought, what better way to celebrate then by putting together a Spring Wishlist, in the hope that some lovely person decides to treat me to all these beautiful things (wishful thinking eh?)!

photo(39)

1. Asos Maternity Skater Dress in Check £28 – okay so most of you are not interested in maternity clothes, but I think we can all appreciate this as a great dress in its own right. I love checked prints, so this would be perfect for the Spring weather, as it would also look great with tights when its a bit chillier!

 2. Clinique Long Last Matte Lipstick £18 – recently Clinique have really upped their make up game and refreshed their lipstick line. I love their skincare so much, but have never been that interested in their make up until seeing these badboys. I think the Matte Petal shade (a super soft, girly pink) would be my first choice for Spring.

 3. Topshop Semi Previous Teardrop Necklace £10 – layering up jewellery is super on trend at the moment, so this necklace is the perfect place to start if you are unsure! I love the green colour, as it would make the perfect contrast to so many outfits.

 4. New Look Tan Leather Woven Sandals £24.99 – my favourite sandals finally died of old age so I had to throw them away at the end of last Summer (booooo) so I have been on the search for the perfect pair. I love the woven effect of these, brown goes with everything AND they slip on, so I dont have to panic that I won’t be able to do my own shoes up soon once super pregnant! Perfect!

So there is what I am currently lusting after, what about you guys? What do you think of my choices? #twolittleowls

Review: Sleek Highlighting Palette in Precious Metals

C: now this review has been a long time coming as Annie actually bought me this for Christmas! However, I have a slight issue with new beautiful things – in that I never want to use them as then they wont be new/look so pretty. But it has finally happened… I have given in and opened it!

photo 1(26)

Now it doesn’t look that exciting from the outside packaging… then you open it up and things get super exciting!

photo 2(25)

photo 3(15)

Look how pretty it is! Now I am aware this is the sort of packaging that will look grubby very quickly, but it goes with the precious metal theme and I enjoy it a lot. It is also super sturdy so you don’t have to worry about it breaking, although the lid is maybe too easily undone to just throw in your make up bag.

photo(40)

Now I am aware these swatches are rubbish, but this is the only photo I could get in the rubbish light that showed off the colours properly. Shades from left to right are: Platinum, Royal Gold, Renaissance Gold and Antique Bronze. All of which are cream highlighters, apart from Antique Bronze which is a powder.

I had never used cream highlighters before, so I was a little nervous about trying these but they are all super creamy and easy to blend and although there is a little fall out from the powder bronzer it is also easy to use. I used these with a primer, so they did last all evening – but as they are so glittery I have not used them in the day to see if they last that long. These are definitely something to be used for an evening look, else you might end up looking a little like Edward Cullen.

Finally, on a last note. My favourite shade is definitely Platinum, just because I am so pale and it is Winter. However, I can’t wait to crack out the others once Summer is here – you can deffo get away with more glitter in the Summer with a bit of a tan! But this palette is perfect for anyone looking to add to their collection, or if they don’t know exactly which highlighting shade is best for them!

This Palette is available here for £9.99. So what do you guys think? Has anyone else tried this? Any tips for the darker shades?

A Mini Avon Haul

A: Avon is one of my favourite brands, you can order beautiful make up and skin care from the comfort of your sofa, get it delivered by your lovely Avon lady – and if you’re not 100% happy with your purchase, you can return it free of charge with a full refund! Although I have only ever had to return one item, and that was because of my super sensitive skin. Chloe spotted my Avon book last time she was at my house, and couldn’t resist adding to my order. So what did we get?

Firstly, a beauty blender. This is mine, and an addition to the one I already have in my make up stash – it was just £3.95 so a bargain. I’ve actually reviewed this before, so if you want to find out more just click here.

I also spotted this Gold Strength Nail Experts varnish. I have really weak nails and am always on the lookout for anything to help. This has a slight gold shimmer in it, which I’m obviously a fan of. Can’t wait to give this a go and review it for you, and it was a bargain for £3.00

Next, the Sultry Lip Pencil in Naturally Naked. Chloe and I both ordered one of these because they were just £2.75. Amazing!

It’s a gorgeous wearable colour too – and I think it’ll be super long lasting (it wasn’t easy to remove this swatch!). Chloe and I will both be reviewing this, so keep following!

Lastly, Chloe ordered these Illuminating Face Pearls. I ordered these a couple of weeks ago and she was super jel so had to order them for herself, and for £4.00 who can blame her.

They have beautiful peachy tones, which will be perfect for Spring make up, and the illuminzed effect creates a gorgeous highlight. Another product we will be doing a joint review on in the next few weeks.

Have you tried any Avon products? We’d love your recommendations! #twolittleowls

Chloes Home Decor Update

C: I don’t know how much I have spoken about buying our new house on here, but we are currently in the process of doing it up/the longest hardest project ever. As we can’t currently live there, I have been able to contain my excitement by slowly picking up pieces for the house and whenever Annie and I have a weekend off we love to go house shopping! Whether its Homebase to buy paint, a quick trip to the Range or a long day of Antique shopping… we love it! So here are some of the pieces I have picked up so far! photo 1(27) First up is this beautiful antique washed wood wall rack. L chose this whilst we were looking round one of our local antique shops and I think we are going to hang it in our utility room. We are going for a cottagey/vintage/country home sort of look so this will be perfect! Whilst shopping with Annie on holiday last summer I picked up this basket, which is perfect for storing drinks in (wine) and these cute pots/glasses. I love to keep things like these on my dressing table to store little bits in/just to look pretty (“collect dust” as L would say!) And then we have one of my favourite purchases so far, which is this hexagonal mirror from the Range! It was only like £7 and I absolutely love it! It is so different, and will be going on my bathroom wall. Annie also bought this and sprayed it copper, which looks amazing too, but I personally prefer it as just wood!

photo 2(26)

Okay so I have issues with buying bedding/blankets, I think its because I just like napping/being so comfy! L chose this Catherine Lansfield stag/checked bedding and I chose the blue floral set from Homebase! L hates floral stuff, so this way we have compromised and we can alternate (/L never changes the bedding so I will just keep putting floral stuff on). I also picked up this checked throw (hey… can you tell me liked checked stuff?!) from the Range for about £15! It is super soft and cosy, so this will be going on the sofa in our lounge. There is nothing better than chilling in a nice soft throw in the evening with the fire on! photo 3(16)

Last weekend I picked up this herringbone lightshade from the Range (we are slightly addicted to the Range!) for £15. I find light-shades really difficult to pick, but this natural one will go perfectly in our lounge, as we are going for cream/brown walls and then checked curtains! Whilst shopping with L in some independent little home ware shops I also picked up this Bee cushion! I don’t know why I like it so much, as Bees scare me (/anything that might fly into and then live in my hair) but I love it! And then for Christmas I got L this stag candle from TKMaxx! He wanted a stags head for the wall, but they are a million pounds and they scare me a bit so he got this instead… unlucky for him!

So there is my house inspo so far! Although a lot of it is from random shops or isn’t available I love looking for inspiration from other peoples style so wanted to share mine with you! Let me know what you think, or if you have any amazing ideas for us! Now it is starting to be nicer weather, we will start sharing some crafts with you guys too as L doesn’t let me paint inside (I might be slightly messy…) #twolittleowls
