Review: A Lush Christmas Lipstick Saviour

A & C: Today we wanted to share with you an absolute life saver over the Christmas period. It’s that time of year where you want to bust out the festive red lipsticks for all your parties, and yet we all have horrid dry lips from the wintery weather! The Solution? Lush’s Lip Scrubs! We bought one each when in London (you can see Annie’s haul post here) and we got a Mint Julep and Bubblegum flavoured one.

“Prep your lips with a buff and polish at the start of your make-up routine to ensure your lipstick glides on and stays put. Just apply with a clean finger, and let the exfoliating caster sugar and softening jojoba oil scrub away dead skin and infuse moisture to rejuvenate your smile. Bubblegum lip scrub won’t leave any greasy residue; just a sweet candy taste that you’ll enjoy licking off. Lip-smackingly good.”

“A gentle lip scrub with more than a hint of mint humbug about it. Turn chapped lips into mint-choc chip lips: warming peppermint and sweet vanilla combine with real sugar crystals give your lips (and tastebuds) a service, leaving them primed for smooth lipstick application. As soon as you gently rub Mint Julips on your lips, you’ll feel its invigorating peppermint oil tingling away while the sugar crystals buff away any flaky skin.”

Their ingredients are super simple, lots of lovely essential oils and caster sugar – that’s it. We would recommend using this first thing in the morning before your Christmas party to gently scrub away all that dry skin (you exfoliate everywhere else, so don’t forget your lips!) and then apply your favourite lip balm and let is sink in (our favourite is Bee Good’s Honey and Vanilla lip balm which we reviewed here). By the time is comes to applying your lipsticks, you will have a perfectly smooth base which makes lipsticks last longer and not cling to any horrid dry patches – because you wont have any!

Now we know what you are all thinking… couldn’t I just rub sugar on my lips and exfoliate them? Well yes, the answer is that you could. But you’d miss out on all of those do-good-oils and their amazing flavours – After Eight and Bubblegum flavoured Lush products which are edible and taste soooo good?! Well, maybe you aren’t meant too eat them, but we have slight issues with trying to eat Lush stuff (think of the sweet on top of the Creamy Candy Bars and the old popcorn wrapping – doesn’t taste good). Plus these are a bargain at £5.50, as I have had my pot since September and I have only used half!

Have any of you guys tried Lush’s Lip Scrubs? Let us know! #twolittleowls
