The Lust List: Annie’s Part 1

A: Recently I’ve been lusting over so many high-end products that I thought I would put together a series with my top branded products – starting with MAC.

creme

Cremeblend Blush

“a blush that manages to make a simple blush state-of-the-art. Creamy, easy to blend medium coverage formula imparts a natural finish that’s smooth, dewy-fresh and long-lasting.”

I love a good cream blusher and this is top of the list for me. It looks really buildable, which is perfect for Summer as you can apply as little or as much as you need – depending on your tan (I still need a lot, pale and pasty is an all-round-year look for me). I think my favourite colour is ‘posey’ because it’s a dusky pink rather than a red-pink, which would suit my skin tone perfectly. It’s currently for sale on MAC’s UK site for £18.00 here.

green luxe

Verluxe Pearlfushion Shadow: Greenluxe

“Five complementary shades that glide on and blend beautifully for infinite day-to-night looks: light peach, bright champagne with pearl, dark olive, blackened green with gold pearl and deep forest green with pearl. Matte to highly pearlized finish.”

I have only just started to get into my eyeshadows (I know!!), and this looks b-e-a-utful. I love wearing goldy/blacky/shimmery tones on my eyeline and blending them out with subtle shimmers so this would be perfect for me. It’s quite pricey at £30, but I think it’s totally worth it. You can find it here, along with lots of other shades.

brush

168 Large Angled Contour Brush

“For expert application of cheek contour. This brush is a large angled contour – the fibres form a buffed edge and are soft and firmly bundled. M·A·C professional brushes are hand-sculpted and assembled using the finest quality materials. They feature birch, linden and ramin wood handles, nickel-plated brass ferrules.”

Contouring is my new favourite thing, so I obviously need a new tool. This is perfect and I have other MAC brushes so I know they are amazing quality. The angle is ideal for contouring and blending – it is £27, but MAC brushes are super long-lasting so I wouldn’t mind spending that much. You can find it here.

sochaud

Matte Lipstick: So Chaud

“Colour plus texture for the lips. Stands out on the runway. Simmers on the street! What made M·A·C famous.”

I just had to include a lipstick, you can’t have a lust list without one can you? Orange is my favourite colour at the moment, and I can’t even explain how much I need this. I have a few MAC lipsticks already, in nude and wearable colours so a bright would be perfect to add to my collection. At £15 I may just have to treat myself. Kiko Cosmetics: An Introduction

C: my lovely mother (number2) got home from Italy yesterday and got me an amazing present from Kiko Cosmetics! I was super excited as obviously I love make up, and who doesn’t like a nice treat? So here is what she picked for me:

photo(19)

So firstly, a little introduction to Kiko Cosmetics as although I had previously heard of them I didn’t have any of their products. Kiko is rooted in Italy where they originate from but they now have stores in London and you can order from their super easy to navigate website. Kiko describe their brand as: “Be What You Want to Be.” Through its extraordinarily wide and diversified range of products, KIKO allows everyone to express their own personality with custom-made products. A variety of colours, effects and sensations that are unique in the market to suit your style, skin tone, skin type and specific requirements, at every phase of your life.

So what products did the mother pick me? First up is this amazing Nail Lacquer in 301 – Grass Green. A beautiful bright green that I cannot wait to try out – it is perfect for summer! Kiko also have an amazing colour selection available, and from comparing this nail polish to the swatches available on their websites, the colour samples seem very accurate.

I also received a Luscious Cream Lipstick in 501 Light Rose which is a beautiful nude colour and the formula is amazingly hydrating. However, lets just talk about that packaging! As soon as I took this out of the box I was super excited about how high end this looked – so high end I couldn’t work out how to open it and mother2 had to help me! This looks amazing in my make up bag and is really sturdy so you won’t have any squished lipstick incidents – perfect!

So my overall first impressions? 100% Kiko! I shall be doing full reviews when I have had a chance to test these bad boys out, but please do let me know if you have tried them before/what you think! #twolittleowlsblog

Chloe’s June Birchbox

C: I was super excited to receive my Birchbox yesterday – and the postman came early so I got a little sneak peak before work! So here is what I got and my first impressions, I will be doing reviews on singular products after I have had a chance to test them properly.

photo-14

So firstly the theme was “Global Strikers” and included beauty products from around the world to celebrate the World Cup. Personally I am not keen on football unless a pub/lots of cider is involved but I thought it was a good theme none the less, as I know there are a lot of football fans out there. We also received a mini flipflop keyring as a lifestyle extra. It was a nice touch but once again not my sort of thing.

So on to the products. The first thing I looked at properly was the Yves Rocher Sheer Botanical Lipstick. There is nothing better than lipsticks in a beauty box and I was not disappointed by this. The shade I got (I can’t find a name anywhere!) is beautiful and although “sheer” it is moisturising and build able. It also smells amazing…. like I want to eat the whole tube.

I then went straight to the Opi nail varnish – another favourite thing to get in my Birchbox. You can never go wrong with nail varnish or Opi. Once again I cannot find a shade name but this is a beautiful purple/grey shimmery/glittery shade. Excellent description there. Annie wasn’t sure on this straight away but I really like it and can’t wait to try it out properly.

I also received this generous sample of Silk + Honey Shea Butter Hair Mask. I love being able to try new hair masks/products as often they are very expensive and you never know if they are going to work for you. Plus once again, this sample smells amazing.

We then have Naobay’s Body Radiance Lotion. I really loved Naobay’s milk cleanser so I am looking forward to trying some of their other products, this is also a good sized sample which means you can get a good feel for the product and see how it works for you.

Lastly we have the Embryolisse Lait-Creme Concentre – posh name for a face moisturiser. I don’t use any facial moisturisers except for my Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturising Gel so it will be interesting to try something new. I would never invest in a different moisturiser as I know  that the Clinique product works for me, so this is the perfect way for me to step outside of my comfort zone and try something new. I will report back!

So overall a great box from Birchbox and probably the only aspect of the World Cup that I will really enjoy! It contained a great mix of skincare and make up and a good variety of new and old favourite brands. In my opinion Birchbox have really stepped up their game this month! #twolittleowlsblog

Birchbox Day!

A: the best day of the month has finally arrived! Our Birchboxes were delivered today, Chloe is going to giver a quick review of hers tomorrow – so yours truly (the better half of our blog duo obviously) is going to review today.

20140616-183916-67156070.jpg

Isn’t it just beautiful? The theme this month is Global Strikers, and the lovely people at Birchbox have taken their inspiration from the World Cup, with brands from all over the world.

So here’s what I received:

The Embryolisse Lait-Creme Concentre, a cult French moisturiser. The full price version of this is £12.99, but the sample I received is pretty small so I’m hoping it goes far.

Silk + Honey Shea Butter Hair Mask, a deeply nourishing mask that protects and softens. Silk + Honey actually offer ‘diy’ kits for £55. Birchbox have put this combination together, and I’m expecting big things because of the hefty price tag.

OPI Nail Lacquer, the Brazilian Collection. OPI are always on the ball for introducing new collections, and this one is inspired by Brazil’s tropical rain forests and sandy beaches – just the description makes me want to jump on a plane! I couldn’t find the name of the colour anywhere, but I received the purpley/gold. The full size version of this is £11.95.

Yves Rocher Sheer Botanical Lipstick in Rouge Groseille, a sheer, glossy lipstick infused with moisturising cherry oil. I had to include a close up photograph of this because, well new lipsticks just deserve that don’t they?! This is a vibrant red, perfect to add to my collection and the scent is amazing, plus it’s full size! The introductory price is £9.90 – not bad for high end.

Naobay Body Radiance Lotion, a lemony fresh organic lotion with shea butter. I’ve had products in my previous Birchbox’s from Naobay and I’ve always been really happy with them, so I’m looking forward to using this. A sample size again, the full size version is £14.

Lifestyle Extra – a Brazilian inspired keyring. This is a miniature version of a flip flop, and like any other girl – I love miniature versions of anything. I’m not that excited about the football to be honest, it just goes over my head, but this keyring is cute!

Review: Soap & Glory Peaches and Clean

C: I received this 3 in 1 wash off deep purifying cleanser in a gift set for Christmas which unfortunately got lost in my stash and forgotten about. After finding this bad boy about a month ago I think I have put it to a fair test and I’m ready to share my thoughts with you guys!

20140615-190829.jpg

This is a really simple product to use, all you do is apply a couple of pumps to your face and neck every evening/morning and then remove with water to de clog and cleanse your skin.

So how did it do? I really liked this (the scent was unexpected, I can’t smell peaches and think it smells more minty but still pleasant) it does not remove make up so I used this after my Bioderma but it really helped sort out my blemishes. A week after use my blackheads had disappeared and my blemishes were seriously reduced. Amazing.

I also used this as a quick mask some mornings by applying two pumps to clean dry skin and allowing it to sink in for 2-3 minutes. This quick treat really helped shrink my pores and it did not irritate my sensitive skin. So overall a multi tasking product that suits all skin types. What more could you want?

Have any of you guys tried this from S&G? #twolittleowlsblog

Chloe’s Summer Wishlist

C: it has been such beautiful weather the past few days that I have been dreaming of my new summer wardrobe/make up. I love it when the seasons change and you have the perfect excuse for a little retail therapy, so here’s what I have been lusting after.

photo-13

Topshop Leaf Print Sundress £38. I absolutely adore the print on this, and it is the perfect comfy dress to throw on when its hot weather. I might have to invest.

Maxfactor 3 in 1 foundation. I have heard great things about this and I really want to try it. This is perfect for festivals etc when you want good coverage/a primer but don’t want to waste time applying make up. 3 steps in 1? I am sold.

Topshop Giggle Geek Shoes £30. I love these/I am a geek so even the name fits me perfectly. I think these would be the perfect summer work shoes as they are still smart and not opened toed. I would have ordered them already, but I have to try shoes on as I am awkward/between sizes.

Revlon Lip Butters. Once again I have heard amazing things about these and to be honest it doesn’t take a lot of persuasion to get me to buy new lipsticks. I can’t decide on a colour yet so if you have recommendations please do let me know, but these sound perfect for low maintenance summer lips!

What are you guys lusting after this month? #twolittleowlsblog
