Dry Shampoo: A Review/Comparison

C: so my friend Nadine asked us to do some reviews on the best dry shampoo which made both myself and Annie realise that we had only ever used Batiste and no other brands! So here are the selection we decided to compare:

1. TRESemme Instant Refresh £5.25 for 200ml
A: This product is my favourite dry shampoo. The TRESemme smells really nice and leaves hardly any white residue, although my hair isn’t really dark the residue from dry shampoos still shows. It also volumises and sets you up an extra day so you don’t have to faff with washing so often when you’re feeling lazy!

C: Not my favourite because I didn’t like the smell even though Annie did! It left a little white residue when first sprayed but once you brushed it through you couldn’t see it at all. Would also agree that it also gives good volume and absorbs grease (ew) really well.

2. Phil Smith Wow Brunette £3.50 for 75ml
A: Although I haven’t got brown hair, I gave this a go to test it as I had never used a coloured shampoo before. It does what it says on the tin and also smells really fresh, but obviously for me it was a little dark.

C: This was my favourite. For me dry shampoo is a product you use when you are in a rush and have little time. The coloured aspect was perfect for me as you couldn’t see any product in my hair at all, saving me on valuable brushing/checking for white patches time. It also smelt nice and gave good volume. Perfect. Phil Smith also do a range for red/blonde hair so you can get the colour that is right for you.

3. Bastiste Floral Blush £2.99 for 200ml
A: As I mentioned before, Bastiste is my ‘go-to’ dry shampoo brand and I always thought it was fine to use – but now I’ve used it after trying these other products, it’s not fantastic. Although it smells lovely, that’s really the only thing it has to its advantage. It leaves so much white residue that I might as well go old-school and use talcum powder!! I won’t be buying this in the future.

C: Same as Annie, compared to other products this does seem to leave more white residue, but maybe I will be giving their products for coloured hair a try. I love the scent and their bottles of dry shampoo do seem to last a lot longer/bigger sizes are available.

4. Bastiste Cherry £2.99 for 200ml
A: Pretty much the same as the floral blush but with a cherry scent – again Bastiste always win on how good the products smell, but not much else!!

C: My favourite scent out of all the products, but obviously the same performance as the Floral Blush dry shampoo.

So Annie’s favourite was the Tresemme but mine was the Phil Smith dry shampoo. But what have we learnt?! Don’t just stick to the things you know, there may be better products out there you had never even tried! Amazing!
